DON’T Buy This - QD OLED G8 Samsung G85SB Monitor Review
AWOOGA A brand new reasonably sized high refresh rate QD OLED monitor is available whaaaaaat I know what your asking, WHO can I throw my money at to purchase this work of art, but wait a minute, let’s first take a look at this bad boy to determine whether or not it’s actually worth buying
And starting off with the specs the Samsung G85SB a 175Hz glossy 34” curved 21:9 QD OLED panel with a resolution of 3440x1440 giving it a PPI of 109.68 and it boasts a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and a lightning fast response time of 0.03ms which of course will make this a fantastic gaming monitor blowing even the best LCDs out of the water.
Additionally it supports freesync and gsync technology, (though it does not have a gsync module), it’s rated for HDR400 True Black, has viewing angles of 178 degrees, and in terms of the ports.
It has one mini DisplayPort, one micro HDMI 2.1 port, 2 USB C ports, and a non standard power plug, so don’t lose it. And I'm sure some people will find the mini ports cool, but realistically nobody is going to have these cords laying around meaning if you want to use HDMI 2.1 I guess you better order a cable since mine didn’t come with one.

"The stand sucks". Thanks for the explanation. I just got this monitor in yesterday and decided for it over the AW partly bc of the stand. It doesnt intrude on your desk as much and you can actually store stuff on it so its like its not even there. You also could have mentioned the enourmous power supply. Does the AW have one like that too?
Thankfully I noticed no issues with my monitor so far and hope it will last a long time. Also what about the pixel care settings? Should I worry about it?

Got this monitor a few weeks ago using it for gaming and photo editing. The size, the clarity of the glossy screen, the colors (12bit @175hz) and the brightness are beautiful!! I was hold back to buy because so many people are talking about color fringing wich isn ´t that bad at all at least for me. You really have to sit with your face in that monitor to see any kind of fringing and who really does that?! I really don ´t get it! I will never go back to a lcd or what so ever. The image quality is what i was waiting for :) It´s not perfect, but its damn close!! Any LCD is looking broken after you worked/played with this kind of monitor. Best is to test for yourself and find out if its the right one for you!

Few days with these monitors and haven't run into any major issues. Samsung currently has it for $1000, down from $1500, also happened to be eligible for the Samsung EPP discount which brought it down to $800. At almost 50% off, I couldn't argue with the priced compared to other OLED's let alone QD-OLED.
Color fringing doesn't seem existent on windows11, seeing people only report it on w10. Either i'm blind, or I don't sit close enough to my monitor but i've yet to see this problem and honestly did not know about it until I saw reviews looking for color calibration options from professionals.
Signal loss seems to be my only issue so far, and it's not even mid gaming or anything obnoxious/dramatic inbetween gameplay or something important. What happens for me is if you let the screen time out (being AFK) upon coming back there's a low chance the singal might not be found and you have to fiddle around with unplugging cables real quick/restarting PC but the solution to this is if you know you are going to step away for a long period if time, manually shut down with the remote provided and you'll never run into this issue. It's only when it times out due to inactivity.
Coming from the 2017 Samsung CHG70 which is also a HDR (shitty btw) 144h curved (27 inch) monitor, I couldn't be more happier with my purchase that took me 7 years basically to find a worthwhile upgrade. It was honestly between this one and the Alienware one, along with the LG C2/C3 (size was the biggest con for me here as 42 is way too huge) but 34 is a definite sweetspot IMHO.
All in all this was a massive W going to 175 hz, a QD-OLED display. Being a smart monitor with the multimedia is also a pro, no con's here and every app I tested works flawlessly. Disney+, Amazon Video, CZcams all working great. At $1500 I will that's very steep and the Alienware would be the better alternative but when you can grab it on discount and if it's lower than the Alienware one it's a 100% must buy.

Was $999 after a $500 coupon on a $1,499 price (gotta love the comment section on wishlist as way to price track lol). It is 4K OLED, and yeah ONLY 60Hz, but it's an interesting topic. The LG 32EP950 and Asus PA32DC, I believe, use the SAME panel, and are $2,000 at their lowest, and like $4,500+ each. It's JOLED panel, which uses a TRUE RGB subpixel layout-- PERFECT for desktop use over WOLED or QD-OLED and their odd subpixel that can cause text clarity issues. Also, the LG panel can only get around 268 nits in a 100% SDR full field, while the Asus one, which never dropped below $4,000 can get 568 nits, because it chooses to turn off the ABL out of the box, where LG you can't turn it off in SDR. This Innocn on their product page advertised 540 nits, so I believe they're just a rehousing and rebrand of the Asus model at a quarter of the price?! G8 has it's strong sides (over DELL or Philips on the same matrix display, the last one is MSI) - full caribration options, HDMI 2.1 (40gb, when MSI has 48gb), HDR 10+ (working on aps form Tizen) and HDR10+ gaming (working only on NV gpus), Tizen OS and apps, noiseless (when Philips and Dell without F aren't). Some are small, and it has to be said, only DELL without "F" and MSI can work without issues with AMD gpus. Samsung, Dell with "F" and Philips have issues with AMD gpus (lowering max lumi and flickering with VRR more). Additional downsides of Sasmung are: lacking of usb hub, lacking audio output for speakers/headphones.

That's because Samsung Display and the vendors do the QC. Samsung Display is truly awesome but Samsung Electronics (which is responsible for this crap) rests in pure ignorance of success and doesn't see a reason to not be incredibly lazy. Samsung Display actually manufacture the displays and is fully responsible for the R & D. Samsung Electronics is responsible for the products themselves, marketing and distribution. Despite the same name. One is good and the other one is useless.
This monitor is a perfect example. Usually smart tvs are cheaper because they get royalties like putting netflix on your remote and collecting and selling your data. Meanwhile Samsung Electronics cheaps out further by using the same SOC as in their Tv's, collecting/selling your data AND having the audacity to charge 400 $ more than someone who doesn't buy it's displays from the parent company with the same panel.
I like the design much better than the Alienware and if it would have been a full metal contruction (including the backside) it maybe would have been worth the extra as not only does that look premium but could also be used as a heatsink to push the panel more and give an actual advantage over the Alienware models. But as it stands now avoid at all costs since warranty is unclear (Samsung made different quotes if burn in is covered or not) and it's more expensive with terrible QC and horrible Tizen.

i agree. I dont understand why he was so negative about the whole monitor. G-sync ultimate is actually not as useful on OLED monitors and as alienware has shown, its has only made it more difficult for users to even get upgrades in firmware AND it costs more. G-Sync module COULD be awesome and superior to VRR only. But Nvidia refuses to upgrade them. Did you know they still use the ANCIENT 28nm manufacturing node for it? 20nm for the version that supports HDR. That process node is from 2011/2014 !!
No wonder that garbage has insane input lag, draws 15 watts of power AND needs a damn fan to keep it cool, on which everyone cheaps out on of course becaues why use something good like Noctua when you can save 15 bucks per unit on a well past 1k display and have users complain about fan noise? Excellent choise from both Nvidia refusing to update their ancient module which doesn't support DP 2.1 or HDMI 2.1, user upgradable firmware, dolby vision (how is that STILL not a thing on monitors in 2023!?), has terrible input lag (if processing really takes that long, which I highly doubt can't be improved with a newer process node, why not at least implement a "fast" mode that works like a regular scaler?), no out of the box hardware calibration feature that unlocks every setting and the list goes on and on.
Given the price of that thing, the features it supports is downright pathetic and cheaping out with a process node from 2014 and forcing users to endure cheap fans from monitor makers is hilarious while at the same time not supporting essential features and the newest display cable standards just makes for a terrible of a product. Such incredible laziness from a company that during it's high was in the top 10 richest in the world should not be tolerated and needs to be punished by consumers by simply not buying it.
