- The Südwesterlied (or "hard as camel thorn wood") is originally a song written by Heinz Anton Klein-Werner for the German Scouts of South West Africa. Due to its great popularity, it became a group-specific anthem of the German Namibians.

Das kann ich voll und ganz bestätigen. Bin Mitglied in einer Reenactment Gruppe und meine kaiserliche Uniform sieht einfach klasse aus.
@@warriorman1708 DDR fand ich besser als BRD. Insbesondere die Barette zur Paradeuniform gehen garnicht, das sieht einfach nur schlampig aus. DDR hatte wenigstens Schirmmützen.

@@nikolairostov3326 Nein, der Text dieses Liedes ist tatsächlich aus dieser Zeit, aber als Melodie hat man eine gecoverte Version des deutschen Panzerliedes genommen. Das ist das einzige Lied, dass die gleich Melodie hat.

Als altem Südwester kommen mir jedes Mal die Tränen. Schade nur, dass man aus diesem schönen, ursprünglich für die Pfadfinder geschriebenen Lied, einen Popsong gemacht hat. Obwohl ich den Sänger, Gé Korsten, sehr geschätzt habe (RIP), wünsche ich mir, er hätte dem Lied mehr Respekt entgegengebracht als Heino dies getan hat. Dem könnte man zugute halten, dass er es nicht besser wusste, aber Gé Korsten lebte den größten Teil seines Lebens in Südafrika.

Das Lied ist übrigens von Gé Korsten - er sang normalerweise Lieder auf Afrikaans.
Wirklich interessante Herkunft! Koblenz das Tor zum romantischen Mittelrheintal ist aber auch fantastisch^^
Ich sehe noch immer den Schrecken in den Augen meines Geographielehrers, als ich von "Deutsch-Westafrika" für Namibia gesprochen habe. Es sah aus, als hätte der Wahrhaftige das Klassenzimmer betreten. :-)

The man singing was a South African called Ge Korsten, this was yay back when Deutschwest was still a part of South Africa as a protectorate after WW1. Most Germans from Deutschwest now live in South Africa - my English teacher was also an old Deutschwester. Man, I wish the German Empire could become a thing again and re-colonize Africa - at least Deutschwest-Afrika. The German people needs a Kaiser now more than ever in my opinion.
Mnr Korsten was born in the Netherlands.

Except for the Communist Bloc - they actively helped the ANC terror-agents. Anyway, Ge Korsten died via suicide when he found out he had throat cancer. He was still living in SA at that time. What a tragedy, that man had a great singing voice.

Das Deutsche Reich hatte juristisch keine Kolonien, sondern schutzgebiete, in die auch investiert wurde --im Gegenteil zu den gierigen Franzosen und Engländern. Darum sind die Deutschen in diesen Ländern heute noch hoch angesehen. Auch hier arbeitet Z!on an Geschichtsverdrehung, was wir nicht zulassen dürfen.

Ich war dort schonmal ! Es ist ein wunderschönes Land mit guten und anständigen Menschen( die auch teilweise noch Deutsch sprechen) leider sind sie wirtschaftlich arm ( daran sind die Britten und Amerikaner schuld)! Ich hoffe , dass es den Namibianern bald wieder besser geht ( vieleicht auch durch zusammenarbeit mit Deutschland)!
