    This might be good for podcasting, who agrees?

      Hi Bob - it will work quite well. I have an M3 which is effectively the same thing in a different body which can also run on a 9v battery. Just be careful of self noise as these are small capsule condensers and produce more hiss.

      I use mine for podcasting. Works amazing! (search: American Podcast shane simonsen 😎) episode 2 with Lisa Mitts was in a coffee shop.

    This and it's relative the M3 are small capsule mics. That's fine but it does mean quite high self noise compared to a large diaphragm condenser - these things are 10-15dB worse. No biggy for live stage use but you will hear that in a quiet room for voice over, and especially if you run compression which lifts the noise floor.

      Audio Hotline you mention reducing sibilants. Although I don’t usually have that issue, what do you do?

    I am using this for last 2 years and it is fab. The only hind side is: I bought it from Amazon uk, and since I received it, the on/off button doesnt work. Luckily it is on for me by default, so I can use it.

    Being a condenser, does it need phantom power?

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes it does require phantom power. It can take either +24v or +48v.

    This mic came out 10 years ago, how do you feel about the m3? Which one do think is better? What is your favorite handheld condenser microphone that is good at rejecting plosives?

    Is this a omnidirectional microphone?

    • @Pushing_Pixels
      @Pushing_Pixels Před 9 měsíci

      Super-cardioid. You need to point it at the sound source, as it rejects sound from other directions.

    Love the reviews you should do a comparison of the blue snowball/blue yeti or yeti pro/ and the blue ember i would love to see the differences there is in the sound and how they compare also the differences with the usb/snowball and yeti vs the xlr/ember.

  • @DihelsonMendonca
    @DihelsonMendonca Před 4 lety

    This mic deals very good with plosives. The behringer of U$ 45 that you reviewd is terrible with plosives. Even with a pop filter.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  Před 4 lety

      Dihelson Mendonca yeahhh.... the M2 is definitely better with plosives, but the RØDE M2 is also 4 times more expensive, so it is hard to compare the two.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  Před 3 lety +1

      I like the M2 personally, but the 2010 is a pretty great value. If the difference in money doesn’t matter, go with the M2.

      I live in an apartment, looking for something that is very quiet in relation to noise, that's why I'm selling my akg c3000b and looking for another microphone that captures less ambient noise. I live in Brazil, and this difference in value weighs favorably, is there any other microphone that you indicate in the profile I am looking for?
      In the range between $ 100 and $ 140, with very low noise and quality.

  • @EagleEye789
    @EagleEye789 Před 5 lety

    Surprised about the price. In Switzerland it costs between 85 - 120 Swiss Francs in 10 different shops. (About 85-120 Dollars) :-(

  • @dickginkowski6071
    @dickginkowski6071 Před 4 lety +1

    This is a good sounding microphone. It's also a terrible sounding microphone. Definitely has a big pit to hiss in and hiss it does. Big time. Also gain hungry. I put it up with a Shure SM58 cranked up all the way and the SM58 was clean and green by comparison. So, here's what you do if you want this puppy. I wouldn't pay the $179+tax MAP here. I paid $135 shipped from Thomann in Germany and spent $99 on a special Fethead for condenser microphones and that cleaned it up a lot. So, if you like the good sound of this microphone you need to hire a hitman to kill the bad sound that goes with it and it'll cost you $99.

      I think sellers just assume people don’t know about the warranty in general, and they are often a cheaper price.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  Před 3 lety

      Most mixers do have a phantom power supply for the XLR channels. Some less expensive ones (like the Behringer mixers) have a phantom power switch in the back. If not though, you can always get something like the ART PHANTOM or Behringer PS400 and then you know you’ll have phantom power wherever you play!

    Why does everyone making videos on CZcams and using a mic almost always fall into that subconscious trap of believing they need to somehow mimic a stand up comic even if they don’t have a single funny bone in their body.
