Terminology for the Most Commonly Used Defensive Concepts

  • This video is meant to serve as a dictionary for defensive concepts. We breakdown everything from being in a gap, to X-ing out off ball screens, to giving context and names to ballscreen coverages.
    At the end of the video, you'll hear me say that the terms I use for each of these concepts are what I've learned along the way in my coaching/playing journey. That is not to say that if there's a different term someone uses that any of the terms are wrong. I believe sharing terminology, and studying film makes everyone involved a better student of the game.

      Glad this was helpful. Most coaches call every concept SOMETHING, but finding out what’s most common can be hard to do. Ultimately, I think your team’s vocabulary just needs to be the same. Let me know if I can help in any other way
