    Hi Dave, it’s bloody awful that locals can’t rent somewhere to live at a reasonable cost for them. The government should stop people putting accommodation on air b&b sites etc unless it’s managed properly. All the locals I’ve ever met are nice warm & friendly people. The media here in the uk are saying that tourists from the uk are not welcome or wanted & IT IS PUTTING PEOPLE OFF going to Lanzarote & the other islands. If the government don’t act quickly, people will holiday in other places then the locals will lose their income & jobs which in turn affects the government, once again it’s the local people that lose out & the media is making things worse for the islands. Keep telling the truth……👍

    I love Lanzarote and the people of Lanzarote. You are doing a great job of setting the record straight. Airbnb is sucking the life blood out of so many places and I would rather not go on a holiday than to use it. We love Costa Teguise which is great if you have any mobility issues as it’s very level with plenty of dropped pavements and the people there can’t do enough to help you. It’s a disgrace they are being treated this way and I hope some good comes from the protests. Despite what the media say in the UK I can’t see it damaging genuine tourism and the people that love the island will still come and be respectful. We will be heading to another Spanish island this year but not because of these protests. People of Lanzarote, keep up the good fight! TravelOn thank you for speaking the truth.

    If you have no airbnbs then there is no affordable holidays. Hotels will charge what they want. The banning of Airbnb’s has destroyed tourism in Scotland. Prices have risen 50-100% in two years. Be careful what you wish for. Holiday homes are an easy scapegoat. Tourism is welcome but only if they pay lots of money in corporate run hotels.

    • @stineekebergcoaching4749
      @stineekebergcoaching4749 Před měsícem

      Hotel prices has gone up because the cost of living has gone up. I work in a hotel, and it would be impossible to run it without increasing the prices.
      A hotel is a business, and of course the owners want to make money. If we have kept the prices low, we would go bankrupt. Another thing is what has been said about "quality tourism".
      We see that the people who get "good deals" and pay a very low price, tend to be the same people who does not follow the rules of the hotel. The ones who throws a party, and the ones who leaves the rooms in an absolute ruin.
      We need people who know how to behave, both inside the hotel grounds and around the island.

Majority of tourists respect the local environment and the culture and if the hotels were not there with all due respect they wouldnt have jobs so what are they wanting rich tourists the issue is with the government allowing new hotels to be built so confused i have been going to Lanzarote for years and never disrespected the island infact its the best out of the three canary islands. You can undersrand us britts feeling unsure even ifvthe media is wrongly reporting.

    • @stevebrown7785

      The ‘questionnaire’ at the departure date will get you to tick a box confirming that you are indeed a ‘Quality Tourist’.
      Seriously, the message coming from the protest is about as muddled as the message coming from msm, so I get why it’s being reported that way.
      Market forces will/should dictate who survives and whether Lanzarote is your next holiday destination. If the hotels are unable to remain open, because their staff can’t find/afford accommodation, they will have two options: close or increase the wages.

    As a veteran traveller of the canaries. I've seen the change in behaviour since covid especially, the airport staff and police treat tourists like crap in Tenerife sur ....they are pointing this at the british mostly. Its the European's buying up property and renting it out as they are EU nationals. I read her cardboard sign and is says clearly territory limited , tourism unlimited! . So which you want the tourists or no tourists , or onlt the ones we see as worthy. The canaries are going to lose the holiday makers if they are not careful. There are cheaper and more welcoming alternatives. I know your on damage control but ive seen the change in canarian behaviour as i was over just a few months back. They are going to cook the goose that lays the golden eggs, they should bring it up with the canarian government for social housing foe residents only attacking a reduction is tourism is going to alienate visitors to the canary islands.

    Thank you so much for this video, we have been going to Lanzarote for 20 years and love it. So we were really concerned about what is being reported in the media. We now understand the issue - which is the same as us in the south west of England, too many homes now given over to tourism and holiday properties, so that younger people in particular are priced out of homes in their own area. I don't know what the answer is, but I have great sympathy with the local residents. I hope there is a solution for Lanzarote, it is a beautiful island.
