Really glad that you finally got around to her...Had recommended her long time back...It's a bit unfortunate that you chose to experience her first in a Hindi song although this song itself was beautiful...there are a ton of her magical songs in Tamil starting with 'Narumugaye' to the whole album of Vatsalyam, her rendering of Subramanya Bharati (especially 'Uyire') and a ton of Harris Jayaraj composition starting with 'Vaseegara' (original of Zara Zara)

Agree Ullas; that because only Hindi is promoted as a language when India's more talented artists are from the South who are non Hindi singers....GUYS wake up...India has over 250 languages/dialects

India has talent all over be it north south north-east or west.
I agree Hindi is often pushed as "the" indian language because usually most western countries are devoid of the concept of having individual languages for their own region whilst living in the same country.
And that is something I think we should be really proud of as Indians.
I will say that South-India and North-east have been neglected for far too long but hey times are changing. It'll take a while and slowly but surely one day all the different cultures/languages of India should have equal represntation

A BIT UNFORTUNATE that you got to experience Bombay Jayashri's singing via a Hindi composition. Don't get me wrong - this is a great sample, but by no means her best.
