Hello, how do I send you a little Christmas tree decoration made out of XMas cards? If you are interested, that is. They are cute and small. :)
New Patreon member here! Love all your videos, and I’m enjoying a Galison Christmas puzzle right now (“Winter Lights”). Thanks for sharing the puzzling joy! Also, my husband’s family is from Sweden, and we spent yesterday making sandbakkelse - delicious little Christmas tarts!
Oh my. As a swede my brain broke for a second when I was hit with swedish words. I can help with some of the translation as a thank you for such a cozy video:
1. Gula asken = "The yellow box". "Gul" means yellow, and a "Ask" is a box that you can close.
2. Aristospel = "Best game(s)". "Aristo-" means "best", and "spel" means game (or games) in a broad sense of the word.
3. Gammalt fiskeläge = "Old fishing spot / place". "Gammalt" means old. "Fiske" means fishing. "Läge" means a spot or a place. We usually use the word for places with special properties, like in this case, it's great for fishing.
I will update this list if I see more swedish words :) tack för mig och ha det gött Karen!
This is way more helpful than Google Translate was!
I'm learning Swedish and was like, "Old fish something..." and my mind wandered as to what the picture would be! Great explanations... tack!
Läge is translated wrong. It means more the word "position". As in you can use it to describe a geographical position or even a persons position(sitting or standing for example)
“Gul” for yellow. So it’s cognate with “gold” in English. Cool!
@@drivers99 yes but also no 😁 gold in swedish is "guld"! Similar words tho
You’re right Karen, the small holes are where they have held together several copies of the puzzle while cutting. Puzzle Michèle Wilson do the same thing, they will cut out around half a dozen copies at the same time and hold them together with fine nails.
Oh wow, that’s fascinating. Makes sense though. Here I was imagining that they carefully and lovingly cut out one puzzle at a time. Obviously that makes no sense business wise. But I still like the way my brain imagines it 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing this information much appreciated ❤
Thank you so much!
I'm not from Sweden but from Finland, so extremely happy to have a shoutout to our country here 😁 what a cool puzzle, the colours seemed really vibrant despite the notable age of the whole thing! And hope you enjoyed the Fazer chocolate bar haha, it's one of our national treasures 🍫
Maybe someone can send her some salmiakki :D
@@RoastedMarshmelon With a solid black puzzle.
@@JS... ohhhh this is a fun idea
@@RoastedMarshmelon I can't believe whoever sent this didn't! You have to torture people just a little.
Just leaving the obligatory TORILLE comment here, haha 😂
Ooh, you could use Alex Trebek's old scroll saw to cut out the shape of the missing piece, then decorate it to match so the piece would be fully replaced! That could be a fun way to show off the scroll saw :)
My thoughts exactly, that little gap is just calling out for his scroll saw! Sweden rocks.
I started watching your videos six months ago, and was inspired to organize a puzzle group - we meet once a month, put together 1000 piece puzzles, and have a grand old time. We've been using baking trays to hold pieces, but those trays look much better! Just wanted to let you know that your videos have brought our little friend group so much joy :)
I love to hear that!
That is SO AWESOME!
The wooden clack of the pieces fitting together is so lovely
So satisfying 😌
Especially along with the jazz background music. 😍
Those animal shapes were such a fun addition! I want to applaud the person who designed the cut 😄 No bonus points for me since I'm not in Sweden, but I got a nice surprise since I am in Finland! Hope you enjoyed the chocolate, Fazer is hands down my favorite brand 😊
I'm actually a Swedish woman watching this in Sweden. If you want music from Sweden from the 1940's you can look up these artists: Jussi Björling, Evert Taube, Alice Babs, Gullan Bornemark, Carl Gärhard and Edward Person.
The chocolate is the best brand ever from Finland. Their Cafe Fazer in Helsinki is so beloved and famous.
I screenshot your list of musicians from Sweden in the 40s. I love music from that era and am excited to discover new artists from that era. Blessings
This is the perfect opportunity to put to use Alex Trebek’s jigsaw!!
Wow, that's so nice! They didn't just send the puzzle, didn't want to spoil it as well as a sweet........... AWWWW!!🥺
I will never grow tired of watching you put a puzzle together. I’m especially living for the clack of those wooden pieces.
I’m from Sweden and saw many of these kinds of wooden puzzles with random piece shapes and no guiding picture in my grandparents home when I was little (they were alive in the 40s but I certainly wasn’t). Fun thing about the puzzle company Aristospel is that it was run by two sisters who started it in 1936. Fun to read about women in the puzzle business 80 years ago :)
Love that!
It looked as though, even without the pieces fitting tightly, there weren't a bunch of false fits. And it was satisfying to see them wiggled into place.
There were a handful of false fits, but eventually I noticed them and was able to swap things around. It wasn't too much of a problem!
This puzzle was all about Christmas - spending time and sharing a gift with those you love and those who love you!
I love how in recent videos (as far as I can recall?) you've kept the audio of placing the pieces in their spots. It's so satisfying to hear the pieces click together!! Good editing call, Karen hehe
As a swedish speaking finn, this episode was definitely a treat :) as for what they would have played in Sweden at the time the puzzle was made, the Swedish version of "Silent Night! Holy Night" is definitely a likely candidate, so full points there, lol
The pieces make such a cute little wooden noise when connecting!
Hi karen, My father had this puzzle that Tower Press put out (English company) (still extremely old but not wooden). If you type in Tower Press puzzles, this image will come up and then perhaps you would have the missing detail to copy. Hope this helps. I collect Tower Press puzzles, the old painting ones.
Good tip! I’ll have to look it up.
@@KarenPuzzles How did it go? Did You manage to remake the missing piece?
Love from Örebro, Sweden
I bought my little sister a Dimond Art multipack for Christmas last year and every time she finishes one she sends me a photo. It makes me happy and they are really beautiful art pieces.
The little clicks of the wooden pieces on the table are so satisfying. What a fun puzzle!
I just spent 1/2 an hour watching a puzzle being put together while listening to some chill music and Karen speaking, nice! That puzzle is quite well made no wonder it is still around all these years later. Nice video!
I am in Sweden! I definitely wasn’t alive in the 40s though. Fun to see some Swedish puzzles! I like old wooden puzzles with those shapes. We had some when I was a kid and I also did some at my grandparents house and so on. Now I buy if I find cheap in thrift shops. But I think I’m going to keep an eye out for some bigger ones. 600 pieces sounds fun! Most I’ve made were pretty small.
I am in sweden to and didn't live in the 40. But I love the pussel.
@@nettanbimbogirl88 I definitely wouldn’t mind a copy of that =) Looks fun!
You might enjoy Hello Fish's wooden puzzles. They're a bit pricey, but they're gorgeous, and I highly recommend them. They tend to be far smaller than these, but they're quite a challenge, at least to me xD
@@HmmmmmLemmeThinkNo They look very pretty! I’m way too cheap to buy them though. I like to thrift puzzles =)
At the front of the box it says "Gula asken" in Swedish means yellow box.
"Fiske läge", I would translate it to a fishing spot/place.
I live in Sweden, so bonus point for me 💛💙🇸🇪
Thank you for the translations!
I love how we’re going vintage. I can totally imagine you as Nancy Drew solving crimes and puzzles.
The little bits of sweater cuff, the wooden pieces, the classical jazzy (could have been 50’s) music, it’s the first time I’ve felt “the spirit” this year! Thank you, Karen!
Was going to suggest we all send her some decorations. But then she just has more “”stuff””” to store.
The way you collect things, is so relatable to me. I am autistic, and I always collect things for my special interests lol
Omg! Karen doing one of the Gula asken (meaning literally "the yellow box") puzzles - that is so exciting! I love doing these kinds of old wooden puzzles and having no idea what the image looks like until you actually do the puzzle. The descriptions can be quite quizzical and the image can really surprise you. I have one I haven't done yet where the description is "The colonel narrates" and I'm imagining this picture where an old man is yapping on, to a group of fairly uninterested younger people, but who knows😄
Send it to Karen when you finish it so we can all discover the answer!
@@asympti2185 Hahaha! That's a great idea actually!
The background music is so relaxing and the clicking of the puzzle on top so tingly. 😅 I already know I will watch this video a few times before I fall asleep. 🥰
I love watching your videos! I have only done a few 500 piece puzzles before but purchased your puzzle last week to support the channel :) It arrived yesterday and I love it! I know it's going to take awhile but hopefully I'll be able to complete it
Wow, that's a leap up! Good luck and let me know how it goes for you!
Just found your videos for the first time. Haven't done puzzles since a child (I am now 80 ) you have made me want to get started again WOW, you explain everything so well. You are such a joy to watch, happy young girl. How many puzzles do you have ...have you had ? ❤️
This one was very soothing and relaxing to watch! Vintage woodcut puzzles are so beautiful. I’m watching from Minnesota, which is pretty much the “Sweden” of the United States! ☺️
Sweden: That was so lovely to watch Karen. I have 4 wooden puzzles which I've actually bought from a specialist shop on Etsy in the USA and they are my pride and joy in my collection. They all have their own unique cut and their own special whimsy shapes, to match the subject of the puzzle. Putting together a wooden jigsaw is infinitely more mindful than the usual puzzles. The actual act of dropping a piece into its slot and the sound of the piece dropping is so fulfilling! Looking forward to your next vid, Karen! 🥰
Love the cozy vibe! This reminded me of an antique wooden puzzle my dad owned. A small puzzle illustrating different dog breeds, where the background pieces were randomly cut, but the dogs themselves were whole. My sister and I liked to play with the wooden dog figures. Just looked it up and it was the Victory “Dog-Wood” puzzle. Had to buy a copy for myself for Christmas. Thanks for your wonderful videos!
Really nice, vintage image that looks especially nice on wood. Even though it wasn’t a Christmas puzzle, per se, it lent itself to the nostalgic feelings of Christmas 🎄 Thank you to your viewer in Sweden! ❤️
I've said it before but I'm really LOVING the crisp snaps of the pieces into place! It's a little thing but it's so satisfying. ☺
Karen is the entire package this year! Thank you so much for blessing us with your brand and calmness. Merry Christmas!! Grab your favorite spiced warmed beverage and bask in the wholesome feelings of all your puzzles and puzzler friends.
I'd love to see more vintage puzzles. This one turned out lovely. Have a happy holiday. 🎄
still watching the video, but one thing you can do to verify that you have the pieces connected correctly is to look at the reverse sides.. you can see if the wood grain lines up across the pieces.
That's one of your best and more relaxing videos ever! Loved everything about it and the Diamond Art was so cool and pretty!
That cardboard tree is a work of art! Just watched the tutorial. I love that it folds and will store so flat.
Thank you for the video. I'm from Sweden and it was fun to see a swedish vintage puzzle. Always interesting to see these old treasures. 😊
I love wooden puzzles! They are much more expensive but they are generally heirloom quality. They'll outlast me, that's for sure! The whimsy pieces and general uniqueness of puzzle piece shape make a harder challenge than you'd imagine. So, even if they are pricier for fewer pieces, they do take longer to put together than a regular cardboard puzzle with normal piece shapes.
I wonder if the design was a poster that the company purchased from the UK for their puzzles? Also, my theory is the holes are from manufacturing...maybe they held the wood in place while the shapes were being cut out?
Never been to Sweden, but it'd be fun to visit there!
Such a nice image, reminds me of some Gibsons’ puzzles illustrations. The wiggly cut shape gives it such a fun texture to look at as well at the end
I love the sound of the pieces! And that little paper tree is adorable.
I love the cozy vibes of this video and of course the puzzle! The sound of the wooden pieces clicking together is so satisfying. Wooden puzzles have such charm to them, especially the cute shaped pieces and when they’re handcut. Great video as always!
I really enjoyed this video. It's nice to see you relaxed and enjoying it. I love how a viewer from Sweden sent you this special puzzle and that you chose it for your Christmas 🎄 video.
Just to say how much I enjoy your cheerful presentation and enthusiasm. Thank you for making me smile
I love it when I spot specific shapes in wooden puzzles 💜I like turning them upside down to see them better.
The audio was spot on! Loved the choice of music in combination with the asmr-like clicking in of the pieces. Enjoyed this so much.
Tack så mycket! Another great video Karen! Love any content from Sweden!
Just love the sound of the wooden pieces!
Those pieces are so cool! I love the look! Thanks for sharing!
The puzzle from Sweden was a wonderful Christmas video. Thanks for sharing.
I loved the sound of the pieces going in - a gentle and muted "fump". Sometimes with other puzzles, the "kathunk" is really loud and percussive and interrupts the chill peaceful vibe of watching you put the puzzles together (but I know some people love that sound!!). Very cool to see this puzzle make its way to you all the way from Sweden. Can't believe it's 80-something years old and in such good condition. Have a lovely holiday season Karen. Thanks for the videos.
Your videos have become my sunday routine! 🇧🇷 love your channel!
Your Christmas spectacular ranks right up there with Charlie Brown and Charles Dickens! Enjoyed the music and festive atmosphere. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Karen!
It was Very satisfying to watch it go together and how cool to build a puzzle that is 80 years old! I need a picture to complete a puzzle, so to watch you put this together without any guide in 5 hours and 20 minutes just blows my mind! You have a great eye for tiny details in the pieces. Fantastic job! 😃✨ I enjoyed your Christmas video.
I recently found your channel and it reignited my love for puzzles, it had been about a year since I did my last puzzle and after watching your videos I went out for 6 new (to me) puzzles that are more challenging than ones I’ve done in past, you make it look so easy!!! What takes you six hours is taking me like 40. I got puzzles that are like all purple with just varying shades and repeating pattern. I used to stray away from those knowing they were harder but watching you preserver through tough puzzle makes me want to just keep going. I love your channel and I can’t wait to buy your new puzzle I’m ordering it this weekend :)
That puzzle does look like fun to make. My father made me two hand cut wooden puzzles when I was very young (3-4) and I wish I still had them. I was alive in the 40s so I get some bonus points, but I've never been to Sweden.
So much fun to see you put this together!
It was enjoyable watching you have so much fun with this puzzle. Even though I haven't been a puzzler up to this point, but my wife and I are going to try a puzzle over the holidays. Wish our relationship luck. And happy holidays!
What a delightful puzzle. So nice to see how much you enjoyed doing it.
This was an incredible generous gift to send you..just the historic value..I think you did extremely well filming, editing slow to fast to close...I've watch a few other puzzle channels and you by far are more enjoyable to watch..you did this puzzle proud, lovely watching..I also feel you honestly had a fun time doing it..great job
I had no idea until today that wooden puzzle ASMR videos are my jam. Thanks for the relaxing vibes and cute vintage puzzle!
I am so thrilled that Diamond Art Club sponsored this video! I have been diamond painting for several years but have just recently found Diamond Art Club. Their kits are the best on the market. I’ve bought from many different sellers online and recently bought my first DAC kit a few weeks ago. I was blown away by how different the canvas was compared to the cheap diamond painting kits found at other places. Plus, you get fun extra supplies in their tool kit pouches. Their product is far superior to anything else I have purchased. I highly recommend their kits! (No, I am not a DAC employee, just a silly new fan!)
Beautiful vintage puzzle, nice relaxing video. Thank you!
Gorgeous puzzle from Sweden. I love the printing quality.
Such a cozy video! Perfect little dose of Christmas.
A big hug from sweden, so fun you did a puzzle from my country! Love your videos and have start doing puzzles because of you 🥰
Just thought Id say I was inspired and bought a puzzle and did my first ever 500 piece puzzle in about 15 hours. It was so fun! Thank you Karen for your generousity and fun while making these videos. You are a great help :)
I freaking LOVE Diamond Art Club. Seeing it featured here us is just... 💗💗💗
I’m obsessed with Diamonds Art Club too!!! Got all the extra tools we don’t need but make it better 😂 my light pad and large trays are the best
Diamond painting with diamond art club is my favvvveeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! Just finished one yesterday and starting a new one today!!
Before someone throws a fit, because they probably will. With the diamond painting, those aren’t rhinestones, they are usually resin or acrylic “diamonds”, aka drills. Although some kits do have crystals and even rhinestones in them sometimes. Welcome to the diamond painting world!
8 minutes in, and i'm loving the cut of this puzzle !!!
Love the pink Christmas sweater! Very cozy!
Merry Christmas and a Happy and blessed New Year to you and your family!!!
Happy holidays thanks for the great video
I am here for my Swedish bonus points 😂
Such a fun video. My family have a little collection of old wooden puzzles similar to the one you put together. Mostly bought at various flee markets. They are so much fun to put together, and the unique piece cuts always makes it a bit of a challange.
What a lovely puzzle from Sweden. This was a very enjoyable video! Merry Christmas!
That is a charming jigsaw, the music is just what was needed, Hope you have a wonderful Christmas Karen.
I remember when I told you diamond paintings. I’m glad you like it. Many other companies to choose from. You can also do custom paintings from some of the companies.
Love this one, thank you for keeping puzzling community company!
Thanks for including the links to the timer and trays. I've been looking for a timer that flashes. That's a good idea to set the mood with 1940's music. Never been to *Sweden*😞
The Hygge vibes of this puzzle were delightful! I would love to travel to Sweden someday!
Love this video! Thanks Karen! Love from the Caribbean❤
Karen, I just wanted to say, I just love all of your videos so much, thank you for all of the work you put into them 💚
Sweeden at Christmas time sound lovely! And I enjoyed the festive Christmas sweaters!
I love the Christmas jazz type music in this video
I thought it complemented the puzzle well!
Your Christmas sweaters are dope!
My mom's family immigrated from Sweden to the United States in the late 1800s/early 1900s. So nice to do a fun little relaxing puzzle!
Thank you for the most relaxing Christmas mood ensuring video. Gentle carols while listening/watching the puzzle pieces go In was so soothing to my post "children at Christmas" chaos brain. Such a beautiful Swedish puzzle too. I'd love to know it's story ... If only puzzles could talk
I really enjoyed watching you doing this puzzle. I think it's cool that it's from Sweden, and in good shape since it was from the 1940s.
Hello from Sweden. I recently did a modern wooden puzzle on foamboard and had the same issue as you. Very frustrating trying to keep the pieces together. Anyway I really enjoy your videos and wish you happy holidays from Sweden.
That's so cool! I love puzzles with fun pieces. Seeing that I remembered I also have an old puzzle. I can't remember what year, but it's an old wooden puzzle of Mona Lisa and it has whimsical pieces like a chair and bottle in it.
I love diamond art club I’ve been diamond painting for years!
Hey Karen, just want to say, thank you for making me interested in puzzle. Just bought 2 a week ago. And the thought of able to finish a portion of it give me boost to achieve anything i can do lol. Great video 💕
I've got a wentworth puzzle with similar squiggly pieces which I love.
I liked that puzzle. I thought it was a beautiful image. I can’t believe it’s as old as it is. It was in pretty good shape.
I've done wooden puzzles & it's helped to put a layer of that sticky-ish mesh that you use to hold carpets in place. They have it at dollar tree & it's a mesh, but it's pretty level & it just gives you a fighting chance to keep things together.
It is exam season for me and I find it very helpful to destress with a puzzle. This year I am doing one of gingerbread houses. What makes it different is that there are three sizes of pieces! I've never been to Sweden but my best friend was alive in the 1940s.
