More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.
The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm British but have heard a lot about working life in USA and can fully envisage the "groundhog" existence. The one thing I do envy you for is the flexibility to take the state pension early. I've been effectively retired since I was 51 but I can't get my UK state pension until I'm 67, another 3 years to wait. When I was 51 the retirement age was 65 but they changed it.
We’re about to get our SP age 66 it’ll give us £700 each (after tax) every 4 weeks so a nice cherry on top but we’re lucky we have other pensions. We retired at 60. I can’t imagine how people cope who only rely on SP as it’s a pittance….

This was a very nice Testimony, Thanks for sharing about your past. You have been growing and Changing with the times, accordingly and adapting to it.
Thank you for the backstory Old Dog. Been a long-time sub. What I enjoy about your channel is you show PI for what it is for an expat ... the good, bad, and ugly. Glad you found happiness in PI. All the best to you and BM.
🎉 life is short, your life with Mae is strong and enduring. I am 77 and envy your life style. I lived in PI for 5 years while in the Navy. It is a wonderful place to live and the most caring people. Enjoy your life with your lovely wife. ❤
Never say never!
When we are in a pack, our instinct is mainly to conform. Good to break out of traces & live our best lives possible. Old dog, new tricks - it is on us to delve into what works for ourselves individually.
And we are never too old to learn.
Supersize the house build! Love it. :) Great video.
You've built an amazing life for yourself after retiring to the Philippines. Well-done, and good job on doing what you can to take care of Baby Mae once your time has come.
Your videos are inspiring to all of us still working in the U.S.
I married a Filipina in the US. I’m 68 and she’s 62. We were planning to retire in the Philippines. We sold everything and were ready to make the move, unfortunately she passed suddenly. My point is you just never know what the future holds. Best wishes to you and Mae.
So sorry for your loss.
No Paul your not a hypocrite. Just facing the truth and reality of life.
Just... never say never.
Just enjoy the day.
Hi Paul,.. great 👍 video.
From what you explained, you have made the RIGHT choices has your life progressed and you're making those choices and changes at a good time in your life and in that regard, I CONGRATULATE you.
I must say this, that you serve has an INSPIRATION for me and to many other guys who think like yourself.
Thanks and keep up the great work Paul.
3 years will go by fast.
We’re about to get our SP age 66 it’ll give us £700 each (after tax) every 4 weeks so a nice cherry on top but we’re lucky we have other pensions. We retired at 60. I can’t imagine how people cope who only rely on SP as it’s a pittance….
Definitely not a hypocrite my friend. You’re just in what I call the final chapter of your life and you are going about it the right direction. I myself and…like you pulled the trigger and left Canada. I’ve started my new life in the Philippines-(Bohol) and it’s best thing that’s ever happened. I admire your brave move and positive reinforcement that you give to you subscribers
You are not a hypocrite. You seem to be a good honest guy who is blessed. Enjoy your retirement and your new life. Be Well.
Paul. your wisdom is contagious, plus I'm waiting for the house building videos! If I ever live in the Philippines, this is information is golden! I'm in the midst of a new relationship with a traditional Chinese woman, and can take your advice and apply it to any heart issues! Keep up the great work and don't ever give up!
Paul, you found your paradise. I’m happy for you and I can only imagine myself to be in your place. Perhaps if and when I pull the trigger and retire in the Philippines that I will find my Cinderella (baby Mae) like you did 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. BTW your looking better today than a few years back looking haggard 😊
In the Philippines/CZcams/Baby Mae, you found your proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.... A very fortunate man indeed.....
Be happy
LADYBOYS ARE CUTE
I was pleased to hear your thoughts and when you enumerated the fastidious steps you took to manage your life I agreed with each step. How refreshing! I am a female 82 years old and want to make the leap. Like you I am not interested in a twosome but rather having reasonable care when I need it and being able to afford it. Also like you I am rambling along in a 2500 sq ft house that I don’t need. Thank you for your kind and informative message. What a blessing to find a like minded individual.
Best video yet Paul thanks for sharing lots of great information.
Would love to see you document your build journey as well i.e costs, plan design timeframes.
Paul, your a good person, probably always have been, you said it all, your doing something for someone else, that doesn't work in the US, all the best, PEACE!!!
Thank you
“Sharing is caring “😏♥️
Hey Paul, been a subscriber for a long time, probably within the first 2,000 subs. Always appreciated your honesty and most of your videos. I've probably watched 75% of them in entirety,. things change, life changes, and really seems that yours has been for the much better. Stay good and stay real!
Aloha
Continue to live, learn and evolve. Remaining rigid just leads to suffering.
Hey hey hey coming to you from the lake hey Paul 👋🏻
Soon Paul will be releasing his new autobiography on Amazon entitled "Hi I am Paul in the Philippines, and I will show you (even at a ripe old age) how to get the hot girl, the custom house, the new car and 2 pure bred pooches, and let CZcams pay for it all" it's a potential top 10 bestseller!
I've been watching all these CZcamsrs for a few years I've been living here retired happily for a few also I don't need you tube to survive I worked 46 years in the steel industry I earned it now they're here panhandling on CZcams almost like a GoFundMe page I laugh it's so funny that subscribers are funding their lifestyle that's why they keep doing it
@@timtarr9364 It is sad that you think that way. Paul always shared good topics on his channel. We are happy subscribers. Being old does not mean that old people should succumb to misery. He is an inspiration to a lot of people his age. He is happy and he shares this to his subscribers. If you do not want to watch you don't need to but thanks for your comments. It makes me see the other side of positivity.
We are happy subscribers. Yes we will buy any book he will write and it will be a book that inspire people his age .
@@MsLarry91 I most certainly agree!
@@MsLarry91Well said,I’m living the same life in thailand with a lovely filipina partner & now & then I met jaded guys! I’m living a much better life than them on 75% less then they are with no stress! ❤
Great video Paul. You've given me much more confidence in making the move.
Thanks Paul the video was great, but the ending advice was fantastic..

And they say women always change their minds. Maybe it's time to call you Paula. 🤣Good luck, Paul.
Well said, currently I’m in a Groundhog Day position here in las Vegas but you give me an incentive to change that. Thank you for your story, I won’t call that hypocritical, because every person has the right to a better life as long as it doesn’t infringe on others.
Congratulations man! live your life to the fullest, many including me would love to live your life, it takes some guts and an adventurist spirit to get where you are.
Life always creates change.
Thanks for sharing this video with us
Very interesting, thank you for your wisdom.
Honest and real as always Paul! God Bless you both and glad your a hit on YT. Add the word Shit to our great friends in France.
I totally agree!!
I'm heading to the Philippines late Sept. I'm a retired Pastor looking forward to a change. Funny how close my life has mirrored yours. Have enjoyed you a lot. Maybe we will run into each other to say hi.
Enjoyed that! You've changed your life around for the better and I think that's great!
Very interesting perspective. Thanks for sharing that. I look forward to seeing the builds progress.
I am 81. My wife died 14 years ago and I was pushed to expat to Southeast Asia after that. I should have done it. I do have a fiancee from Vietnam though that I met here in the US. But I did have to spend 2019 on chemo from cancer. It sucks getting old but too many don't have that opportunity.
Impressive self examination. Thanks.
Paul… Great video!!! I felt goodness in my heart after watching this video. Your plan to take care of your wife is admirable and my hat is off to you………
❤❤❤ wow is this such a great video of pertains to me I'm kind of in the same spot 65 just now retired here recently so thank you for this
Awesome video
Life hasent gotten any better here in the US,if nothing else it has worsened. I can't wait till we make our jump.Groundhog day is my absolute #1 favorite movie ever, don't forget in the the End Bill Murry became a better person, found peace and got to find true sincere love. .😊
Thanks Paul for the history and a great perspective. Enjoy your videos!
You are a great storyteller Paul, you are not hypocrite, your just being real!
Don't expect a Filipina to leave her dating sites or deleted the men she's met on the sites,' even after you're having a strong relationship and giving her security.'' If they won't let you see their phone after your having a strong relationship,' dump her and save all the drama and money..'' If you're dating one,' check the dating sites.''
That is very good advise. Thanks
Don't bother with expecting commitment. Just enjoy their bodies and keep it moving with your other girlfriends.
I am also an older man who met the love of my life in Cambodia after telling myself i was going to be a butterfly for the rest of my days ... It is such a peaceful co-existance being married to a younger than me Cambodia girl. There is no gender role confusion and with out even trying my wife by just being so comfortably female gets all she needs from me without even asking ... best decision I ever made ... I never knew such contentment ... I am convinced the peaceful bliss of what married life is like here and used to be like in the west will add more years to my life than was previously probable ...
That awesome . 👏
Awesome!
Hello Paul, this is really, really excellent. Thank you so much for sharing your story. My story is very similar to yours. I married my Filipina wife after meeting on-line and I started my new life here in the Philippines this past Christmas. I sold it all, retired early and moved here from California to permanently be together with my wife. I’m very, very happy here. My wife and I have been married over two years and have been in a very healthy relationship for over 3 years now. The Philippines saved my life. I’ve been following you for nearly three years now and just wanted to check in and say hello. I really appreciate your posts and hope to enjoy a cup of coffee with you someday. 🌴🥰🙏👍🌴
