I LOVE that you said “if you’re afraid to do your own hair you shouldn’t be because it’s fun!” 🙌🏼 🙌🏼 THANKYOU. Every stylists so uptight “oh my gosh you did your own hair?!?!?!?!?” And like you said, it’s just hair!! 💁🏼♀️ it’ll grow back!
I found you ? Last yr and followed your instructions and was thrilled with results. I've cut my hair a few times yrs ago when $ was so tight but had close access to someone who was trained to do hair etc and loved her doing it. Things changed and I went so long without a haircut, I was miserable. Your video made me think I could do it again. And I did and it turned out making me very happy. Thank you. I lost your video and found you tonite I've been cutting on my hair little by little the past few days. But now I can follow your video again !!! Yah🎉🎉😂
I get more layers when I brush all of my hair forward into one tight pony tail at my eyebrow line. I add more rubber bands down the pony tail for more control. I cut straight across and I get a v-line at the back, plus nice layers all over! One cut, done!
I do that too because my hair is fine but first I split my hair in half at the back and bring both to the front and put a pony tail holder up to the chin to cut off some length. Turns out really good.
I just wanted you to know that your video is the best I have come across on CZcams! I tried the one ponytail nonsense got a wolf look but this cut is the one I have been looking for and just wanted to thank you so much! Every single time I leave the hairdressers I’m so upset so decided to start learning how to do my own hair cuts! Love your real life way in your video just inspiring and your hair came out gorgeous with volume too! 😌
@@myle-jz9pi Your writing makes little sense, so perhaps you didn't understand her words. What she was saying was friendly, entertaining and helpful. She pointed out what she was doing, and why! Attempting to silence a woman on her own tutorial video is seen as beyond rude behavior! She is a lovely, smart woman and enjoyed giving herself a great haircut! You could have just muted the video, and yourself.
I grew up jw too.. I stopped feeling weird about celebrating my b-day or any other holiday once I finally researched the truth about 'the truth' and found out it's actually all a lie. Thank you for your video 💕
Where you went wrong was cutting the back ponytail straight up. You need to pull that one down in front of your face. You'll get better lauers in the back.
THANK YOU for this video!! I’ve been going back and forth with the idea of cutting my hair and figuring out how to cut it for about 3 weeks. And a few articles online said not to do a ponytail cut with shorter hair. But this style was exactly what I was looking for (a little longer but still!) and you gave me the push I needed!! You and your energy are fabulous AND I love my new haircut!!!
Cut my hair using your instructions and I am in love! I’ve been putting it off because I was scared I was going to mess up but something about your voice and confidence helped me a lot ❤ Thank you!
I'm not sure what you mean adding more rubber bands down the ponytail??? How many ponytails down the back of your head are you making and where about do you cut? I think maybe I don't quite understand what you mean, could you give more detail bc I really want to try it but not sure how you're doing it, thanks!
It was driving me crazy but it finally hit me. Shaylene Woolley…your mannerisms and eyes. So glad I realized it now so it wouldn’t drive me crazy for a week! Also, this is a beautiful cut. ❤️🤟🏻
Love it!! My hair is burned but I wanted to give it some shape and since it's so straight i couldn't find something right for me. Your technique was simple but worked out great!!!😊
good job, also well explained, yeah the thing with one pony tail method i did always ended up with wolf style and it was bit uncomfortable, but this 2 pony tail method which was mentioned in a shorts was good and your video really explains very well, btw you should celebrate your birthdays, you seem to be a wonderful woman and deserve good times & joyful celebrations,
People back in the day, would make their own clothes and usually one family member would cut everyone’s hair. They mowed their own grass and canned food and never ate out. So now is s revival of home cutting skills with oodles of DYI You Tube videos and I think up to a point, it’s fine. I need a professional shaping something fierce. After 3 years of cutting it myself, I’m going ALL IN, and getting a custom design by someone I will gladly pay and probably hug on the way out. LOL
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ best video for me to the point 👉 I feel like we live the same life in regards to our hairdressing experience, I never felt happy with hairdressers when leaving and I too would cut my hair after I got home 😂 thanks for this informative video I love it ❤
There is a disconnect from top layer to bottom layer. Might I suggest a third pony in between and over direct backwards instead of forwards. Just a thought. 🥰
Need an opinion...I've cut layers into my hair for a long time but I think my hair is thinning and maybe tons of layers isn't for me anymore. I think I might be better served if any layering happens closer to the length of the hair instead of shaggy all over. Wouldn't I achieve this if I lowered the height of the rear ponytail?
@@Kindness808 I would be careful with thinner hair. I would leave the bulk of your length and only do slight layer towards the bottom like you said. Definitely over direct on each side still. Good luck! 💞
I cut my own hair all the time. I have shake off all my hair to cutting it really short. It’s actually liberating. Short life story, I had to do chemo as a teen, I lost all my hair and I constantly lost all these year later ( which nobody tells you this). I rather cut my hair for free than pay $$$ for something I didn’t ask for
I want to try this too. But shorter on crown and top. But long as it can be on length and side length. I love a shag. I grew up in 70,s. Stevie Nicks days. Lol. And I get the BD's thang, I was also brought up JW. It gets somewhat better. A hard mindset to break. Love yourself. 😁🌹
Happy belated birthday! Turned out really nice! I've been growing mine out one length for years now except for some good trims so it's always just a bit shorter than yours. I'm sick of it & its boring so I'm doing something about it today! Going to watch a couple more vids first. Think I'm going for the Wolf Shag. Loved my hair shag cut back in the day but it's thinner now so thinking layers will make it look thicker. So goes the theory. Like you said, it's just hair.
I would have gone shorter on the top. I usually see it cut right to the bridge of the nose. That gives you better layers with the long hair and looks better.
Great tutorial your hair looks good and the way u explained it also maybe next time try 3 or 4 ponytails tied up like one for front 1 for each side parted and 1 for the back then u could try the wolf cut I recon u would suit that style and so easy and let your natural waves vote through by scrunching when hair is wet. Towel dry add some conditioner or dry shampoo to hair and go I call it you would look awesome 👌 🌻🌻❤️
Ha! Randomly googled diy layer haircut and your video came up.. thank you.. and just wanted to say I feel ya sister ;) Also grew up jw and still have a lot of residual birthday, chrismas and other celebration icky feelings... I hope you have recovered from being in that religion ☺️

Agree. He always says wet, wet, wet your hair first. Not to mention she cut below her fingers (which I don't understand) rather than above for more control.
Out of all the tutorials I tried third one has made the Most sense, but I don’t trust myself with scissors on my hair,so I am testing this on my American girl doll first
The original cut like this (by Brad Mondo, who created it) is not his wolf cut but his butterfly cut. The front pony is supposed to come in between your eyebrows, not be on top of your head like a unicorn. Also you’re not supposed to hold the hair straight up in the back while cutting it should be on an angle toward the front. Also all hair should’ve been wet.
😂 Brad Mondo didn’t create anything, we were cutting our hair using ponytails since the 70’s you nitwit. Actually, where did she say she was even doing what Mondo said to do? And I wasn’t aware of the “hair must be wet” rule.

Pulling the back sides to front to cut will still give U shape in back. Only way to make straight across Is to cut w hair all pulled back. She's only making her ends uneven. Stick to blunt cut bc u don't know these techniques.

Thank you! Hi!
Attend you supposed to cut on wet hair?
Really cute cut, I like it!
this is very random but i think you would look amazing in jewel tones like emerald green or berry colors !
Usually most people pull the front pony tail more in the middle of a tad lower on your forehead..hence, the unicorn ponytail
Brad Mondo's Wolf cut or the Butterfly cut.
I would have gone shorter on the top. I usually see it cut right to the bridge of the nose. That gives you better layers with the long hair and looks better.
It looks great!

this method suits for short hair too,
its far far better and easier to manage than the one pony wolf style,
And do we just leave the measuring up to God during the second ponytail?

Just an FYI…the ponytail in the front should be down lower between ur eyebrows & ur hair needs to b wet.
Every salon hair stylist I just watched do this same cut did not have the front lower and none of them cut wet hair 🤔
