I honestly am quite excited for this release, the other two Magnus figures in the past four years have been decent at most but this one feels worth it.
The price isn't the issue for me, it's just something about the size and shape of him that doesn't do it for me. I'm still happy with my upgraded Siege Magnus. This Commander version is taller than Grimlock. That doesn't look right.
The thing is I don’t think there’s ever a scene with Magnus and Grimlock standing next to each other when Grimlock is in Bot mode.
Totally agree. Great looking in bot and vehicle.....WAY too big and the scale ruins whole thing for me sadly. I'm sticking with Kingdom he simply looks better with rest of mine.
Considering the engineering that went into having him stay one piece and not be a "partsformer" it is easily worth the price. Yeah he isnt as tall as jetfire for example but he has better engineering and more articulation. He is basically a mainline MP🤷 I was hesitant but got mine today and I am very happy. Towers over the siege with dna kit 🤘
He’s definitely better than leader class but I don’t quite think he’s commander class. Feels more like a 80$ figure than 100$ figure.
I think it is way too big for a start. On its own it is a nice looking transformer but it is just far too tall and wide for the range. He actually makes Grimlock look small.

I bought it 2 days ago.I had the MP ultramagnus and all the siege variants. This studio 86 ultramagnus is the best of the entire lot. It's huge, is articulated similar to an MP, and is detailed and sculpted as good as MP. It's also better balanced and proportioned than the MP. The matrix chamber is sprint loaded. He comes with his normal rifle and a pistol, and a whole bunch of effex parts. It's worth the price, easily. It's a better figure than the MP. This is an incredible figure.
Yes, the windows are clear plastic inserts, held in by a sturdy tab.

I just got him! He's worth it, I live him! It's not perfect, but the good outweighs the bad. I think it could've been cheaper without the pop off limbs gimmick which very few of us are going to use.
Looks amazing and have my pre-order in already, plus cab robot bad and always had made magnus worse after g1
Might get it if i can verify that the Perfect Effect PC-17 Magnus can fit inside it. It's still expensive so this will be on my low priority list until it becomes discounted. I'm still trying to get NewAge's Ultra Magnus variants..
Totally worth it if it means I never need to buy another ultra magnus again, and it looks that way.

They look like Combiner Wars connectors, but they go in the wrong direction... CW the pegs are on the limbs, Magnus the pegs are on the body and the _sockets_ are on the limbs

I don't like the price 80 is a bit high for him it's a great figure but I think 59.99 would have been a better point . I can't complain to much because I personally did get him for 64.99 plus tax .
i would've been happy had they just upscaled that iron factory final battle city commander figure we got 2 or so years back. Everything about that figure imo was better executed. Don't get me wrong this ss86 magnus is definitely impressive for what it was trying to go for but even with the extra joints for the added articulation of the scale it still appears to pose awkwardly most the time compared to a figure who is smaller, much much better proportioned and articulated and achieved more at a similar price point when initially released albeit the iron factory figure was based on the mtmte/lost light IDW design.

I know people are beaten to death with G1 Primes, but I really do want an update to the earthrise one now. With Rodimus and now Ultra Magnus out and looking as stellar as they do, I can’t be the only one who feels as though Prime (and his trailer by proxy) are beginning to feel a bit dated right? Maybe time for a Studio Series 86 Prime?
honestly I did not clock in the combiner ports. now, this doesn't boost enough to justify the price on its own, but playability really spiked up for people here in a while
him being bulky and massive is in the setup, no one but combiners and above weightclass should be looking him from anywhere but below the chin. commander class feels justified for the city commander, but commander class is a can of worm in the first place, so I believe it is good as it is

I'm absolutely spoiled by Masterpiece scale and larger. And the engineering on MP bots appeals to me more.

@@finlayyyyy Not necessarily, though that would be nice. I just prefer Masterpiece sized figures for my collection. Or larger. Not really into anything smaller. Additionally, I prefer the advanced engineering quality of the Masterpiece line as well as 3rd party.
Mainline ain't really my thing, with few exceptions. Not to say that mainline CHUGs aren't super dope, as many of them are! They just don't work with my tastes.
THIS figure in the OP video is awesome, no question. But it's waaaaaaay too small for MY collection.

I think that Magnus being commander class makes perfect sense. This figure has lots of gimmicks and features. You have to consider costs of lboe and production as well, in today’s day and age yeah magnus needs to be a commander but 10 years ago absolutely would’ve been a leader. Unfortunately, when measuring his price against the economy, it does make perfect sense. Sky Lynx was a simple ass transformer but I’d still argue when you hold him in hand he feels worth the price
Yes . Definitely. He’s chunky , wide , and got a lot of accessories. You figure we spend 70 on games that we play ONCE .. honestly, I’d go 120.00 .
Looks fun and durable. Make sense as main line release and mix it up with the rest of ss86 crew, I don’t have expectation for robot mode to look like animation as it’s not MP.
