Bream at his best. Wonderful phrasing. Flawless articulation. Lovely feel and real flare. Incredible variation in tone. Just outstanding. No other guitarist grabs my attention and keeps it like dear Mr Bream. An International Treasure.
exactly, i can listen to julian all the time, his sound and tone from his fingers is amazing, been my favourite guitarist for years, shame he's getting old now- absolutely one of a kind
I have never recalled ever hearing this piece. I have always shied away from playing any Aguado. I am so pleased to have heard it first hand from Mr. Bream. Thank you Julian.
there is no better then Bream...there are many engaging and talented classical guitarist but Bream puts the soul of a passionate musician in everything he plays...on top of that playing everything w/ technical brilliance and interesting showmenship...I once heard somebody say Bream is THE virtuoso of the guitar, couldnt agree more...there is NO BETTER THEN BREAM!
What can I say about Julian Bream that has not been said before...well anyhow julian bream you're a treat to listen to.Thank you for the lovely music.bilstew
I agree. He is just a superb genius. I doubt that there are too many people living that could do this piece anywhere near the justice it deserves. Just faultlessly composed and genius in its execution of musicianship. Sheer beauty...
The wellthiest person is not the one that the one who has more things, but the one that less needs. I can imagine that he was happy and what he needed he gets it, and almost sure that he never got hungry because of economical situations.
I have seen Bream in concert several times. He plays with a flair, tone and texture unequaled by any other guitarist. He plays loud in concert unlike Segovia who was difficult to hear in a concert hall. Brilliant!!
A fantastic play and set of comments on one of the greatest pieces by Aguado. Thank you Julian Bream for your incredible playing and teaching as always. Jeff Dwarshuis - Experience Music Webpage - www.jeffdwarshuismusic.com/ Facebook Business Page - facebook.com/JeffDwarshuisGuitar
no one can express the the beauty of music like bream, and i read somewhere he plays it differently to express more aggressive in the piece, some asian lady plays this and it is just not the same
Anyone can practice 8+ hours a day and become a virtuoso with superb technique, but there are some qualities you can't cultivate or practice. Bream had those special musicality qualities that made pieces come alive.
I love Julian. He is the most fantastic Musician. But I must say, watching his face when he plays can be funny... he looks like he's having a conniption trying to keep his fingers moving.
Bream is one of my favotrites guitar players. Maybe the number 1. He does, besides all, an extraordinary work with the "timbre" in his playing. The unique crime I heard he practise sometimes ( just sometimes, and not in this video for example ) is the noisy sound of the left hand gliding along of the strings.
For all guitar lovers - I recommend Brazilian guitarists Yamandu Costa, a genius of the instrument, although he plays a very different genre (fast Brazilian music).
@TheNonOriginalSheik Not just his understanding of any individual piece of music. His understanding of his chosen instrument is simply unsurpassed by any I have ever heard. He is a genius. He is simply the very best guitarist since recorded sound was invented. Possibly there may have been better before but I doubt it.
Great to see that Julian Bream has music posted on you tube. I think he should have a lot more views than Hannah Montana or Britney Spears. Anyways, great tone, phrasing and emotion by Bream.
Bream said DIGS not dicks. Digs is a dwelling place, common usage amongst jazz musicians. In some of the You Tube videos he is using a guitar by Romanillios with the famous arches rosette developed by Romanillios. Neil Ostbeg
phrase at 3:25 is shaped so well, his expression is so good. It's sincere, it's very distracting to me when performers are over the top and dramatize every single line to the max with head bobbing, body swaying, and retarded expressions on their faces. Bream's playing is so subtle...
Why do people persist with the Williams vs Bream debate, or who is the best ever classical guitarist. It's like saying Brie is better than Camembert. I like both equally well. And, yes, 'digs' is still in use! It is used thus: "Did you stay in digs whilst at University?"
I didn't know that Tarrega used nails in his technique - I find this piece to appear very challenging. I hope that I can bring my level of play up to this level! Amazing Piece!
Tárrega cut his nails at the end of his life . But this piece is by Dionisio Aguado an earlier guitar player . The link between Aguado and Tárrega is Julian Arcás , one of the best pupils from Aguado guitar school who taught Tárrega for some time.
"The guitar is too woody"!? Hilarious! The next time I see Jose Romanillos I'll be sure to tell him that his guitar sounded "too woody" in the hands of the most expressive guitarist of the 20th century! Unbelievable!
I am not so sure whether Bream is or not the true vision of the composer. Non Spanish guitarists have problems to express the true Spanish sound, especially playing a piece using distinguished rubatos, etc. It is the same thing for a Spanish trying to play Shakespeare.
You must be ON something! Julian Bream is one of the three finest classical guitarists on planet earth, the other two being John Williams and Chris Parkening. Please limit your comments to things about which you know something!
He is amazing, but some of his facial expressions make him look demon possessed. Maybe that's what happens when you're in the zone. I've never even seen the zone let alone entered it.
+oldwhtman I had the pleasure of sitting less than 15 feet from Bream at a concert years ago in Albany, NY. Some of his facial expressions were a bit distracting, but it didn't matter because his playing was so incredible.
Bream at his best. Wonderful phrasing. Flawless articulation. Lovely feel and real flare. Incredible variation in tone. Just outstanding. No other guitarist grabs my attention and keeps it like dear Mr Bream. An International Treasure.
He has the best interpretations almost all the places he played. He is a very special guitarists of all times IMO.
exactly, i can listen to julian all the time, his sound and tone from his fingers is amazing, been my favourite guitarist for years, shame he's getting old now- absolutely one of a kind
I have never recalled ever hearing this piece. I have always shied away from playing any Aguado. I am so pleased to have heard it first hand from Mr. Bream. Thank you Julian.
This must be one of the most beautiful pieces, played by the greatest master of Guitar.
there is no better then Bream...there are many engaging and talented classical guitarist but Bream puts the soul of a passionate musician in everything he plays...on top of that playing everything w/ technical brilliance and interesting showmenship...I once heard somebody say Bream is THE virtuoso of the guitar, couldnt agree more...there is NO BETTER THEN BREAM!
A have the Guitarra series on VHS which I taped when it was shown originally on, I think, Channel 4. Excellent 8-weeks of viewing.
What can I say about Julian Bream that has not been said before...well anyhow julian bream you're a treat to listen to.Thank you for the lovely music.bilstew
Gorgeous piece, a flawless diamond in the Aguado repertoire.
one of the best right hand technique i´ve ever seen . Julian ur the Best!
I agree. He is just a superb genius. I doubt that there are too many people living that could do this piece anywhere near the justice it deserves. Just faultlessly composed and genius in its execution of musicianship. Sheer beauty...
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The wellthiest person is not the one that the one who has more things, but the one that less needs. I can imagine that he was happy and what he needed he gets it, and almost sure that he never got hungry because of economical situations.
Guau..! Increíble técnica. Lo conocía, pero nunca lo había visto. Simplemente genial.
best performance ever, long live julian bream !!!
I have seen Bream in concert several times. He plays with a flair, tone and texture unequaled by any other guitarist. He plays loud in concert unlike Segovia who was difficult to hear in a concert hall. Brilliant!!
El perfecto camino de dos vías de la música.
Él disfruta al interpretar... nosotros con su interpretación!
Saludos

Very beautiful piece. I also liked the short and to-the-point comments by Bream while the piece was playing.
Elegant and brilliant - just wonderful!
he becomes the music he plays....magical
hahahha burst out laughing when that happened
also rewound a few times to make sure I heard what I thought
wt a great amazing feeling beyong reality...... deep emotions can't be reach by any player
no one can express the the beauty of music like bream, and i read somewhere he plays it differently to express more aggressive in the piece, some asian lady plays this and it is just not the same
fantastic! and a tremendous from the sound of bullets!

He has this cheerful style in his playings.
Absolutely beautiful playing!
El nivel interpretativo más alto que ha visto la humanidad.
Superb !!
Loved how this was shot... No one plays with more focus than Bream!
I love Julian. He is the most fantastic Musician.
But I must say, watching his face when he plays can be funny... he looks like he's having a conniption trying to keep his fingers moving.
Excellent.
I love his face. he has such great expressions =P
This is so beautiful!! Amazing!!
Dope.
Homeboy kicks ass.
Rock that shit.

Excelente!!!!
Más claro, no se puede...
Bien dicho.
i heard him play a strat though a vox ac 30...what tone!!
For all guitar lovers - I recommend Brazilian guitarists Yamandu Costa, a genius of the instrument, although he plays a very different genre (fast Brazilian music).
Julian amca çok müzikal çalıyon yaa:) greaat!!
damn ! he speaks during the best passage !

God, he was so good.

superb feel!!!! but skipped the beautiful intro of this wonderful piece of music....
maestro de la guitarra.
Wow!!!!!!!!!
No, I mean I'm just wondering if he was well-off. I'm happy for him that he did well. He's the man. True genius.
Hahaha, that's what I heard at first!
Great to see that Julian Bream has music posted on you tube. I think he should have a lot more views than Hannah Montana or Britney Spears. Anyways, great tone, phrasing and emotion by Bream.
you are crazy!
Bream said DIGS not dicks. Digs is a dwelling place, common usage amongst jazz musicians. In some of the You Tube videos he is using a guitar by Romanillios with the famous arches rosette developed by Romanillios. Neil Ostbeg
i wish i could play this!
phrase at 3:25 is shaped so well, his expression is so good. It's sincere, it's very distracting to me when performers are over the top and dramatize every single line to the max with head bobbing, body swaying, and retarded expressions on their faces. Bream's playing is so subtle...
I think he says "digs", actually. It's British (slightly old fashioned) slang for a place to live.
Why do people persist with the Williams vs Bream debate, or who is the best ever classical guitarist. It's like saying Brie is better than Camembert. I like both equally well. And, yes, 'digs' is still in use! It is used thus: "Did you stay in digs whilst at University?"

asking 14 years later, have you nailed it yet?
Tárrega cut his nails at the end of his life .
But this piece is by Dionisio Aguado an earlier guitar player . The link between Aguado and Tárrega is Julian Arcás , one of the best pupils from Aguado guitar school who taught Tárrega for some time.
@Warchild281 Thats why they called him "Sor"
I wish i could have seen the quarrels between Dionisio Aguado and Fernando Sor
It isn't really old-fashioned - it just refers to a place you stay and pay for in someone's house, rather than a hotel.
mimiklerine bayılıyorum Julian amcanın; 2:13' e dikkat edin...
He did use them, but indeed not later in his life due to some condition of his (arteriosclerosis I think).
Regards
I cant physically have Julian Bream's babies, but I'm willing to try.
He IS....
2:28 they shared WHAT?! together??!!!! LOL
"The guitar is too woody"!? Hilarious! The next time I see Jose Romanillos I'll be sure to tell him that his guitar sounded "too woody" in the hands of the most expressive guitarist of the 20th century! Unbelievable!
pero ahora si revisas los ultimos videos..a mejorado notablemente...pero bream es uno de los mejores de estos tiempos..
fucking hell... 'nuff said.
Julian Bream
he said 'gigs'. dirty mind
que chingon sonido, muchos cambian el sonido por tocar hechos la verga.
@ me...guess thats why they called him Sor?
Hey, this has nothing to do with this piece, but I'm wondering... How well-off was Bream in terms of money. Just a curious question.
@piqueniquepants no one takes interpretation more seriously and better than Bream.
They should make him Sir Julian Bream. How was his relation with segovia btw?
your quite good, how long have you been playing for?
frig!!!!
3:37 hehe :)
Just my opinion, but I think Segovia's torch goes to Bream.
I am not so sure whether Bream is or not the true vision of the composer. Non Spanish guitarists have problems to express the true Spanish sound, especially playing a piece using distinguished rubatos, etc.
It is the same thing for a Spanish trying to play Shakespeare.

Digs = Flat or penthouse, etc... check an online thesaurus. British nomenclature can be tricky for us Americans.
Practise
Its all about getting to know your instrument
Try as I may.
I've used guitarpro! XD Until my teacher said i'd to play through notes.. ;)
Lie Jie who?
How does he play that shit without even looking at the fret board? Jesus.
He is amazing, but some of his facial expressions make him look demon possessed. Maybe that's what happens when you're in the zone. I've never even seen the zone let alone entered it.
