- In my quest for looking for an aquarium light that would work for both my low tech and high tech planted tanks I found my new favorite aquarium light, the Hygger 028 (aka smart light, bluetooth light).

That looks like a very nice Hygger light. I have a few of their 24 hour full spectrum lights and quite like them.
I have other hygger lights and I will say that this one is much nicer than some of their other models. Thanks for watching!
I got mine yesterday and its pretty nice, the app works great and has the ability to group lights, so if you have 2 on a 75 for example you can control both as if it was a single light.
I hope they dont abandon doing some updates to the app as it could use some small tweaks for example the moonlight scene is wayy to bright. Also the sunrise/sunset allows you to set a scene for the daylight times but not for the moon rise/set which would be handy as then you could use one of the user defined ones for color and brightness of your choice.
Overall its a great light for the price and colors look way better, even the gravel looks better than other lights including the fluval 3.0.
A few tweaks to the app would be great but I agree the light looks pretty ggod.
Yes, the moon light scene is useless as it's super bright.
Dis you notice that If you use the sunlight scene in the 8 time schedule it's not as bright.
Oh and the 48 inch version doesn't produce as white of light as the 36" and below. I think the power supply is not powerful enough.
I put 2 on my 6ft but group control doesn't work which is a real pain 🤦♂️
Just ordered mine yesterday as i have a replacement factory light unit coming at a uncertain time and i have an aquascaper coming near the end of the week so want to make sure i have a working light unit before he comes. I ordered the HG-999 model which i believe is the latest model and is suited for planted tanks.
Return it and get the 028. It's the one in the link. I have both and much prefer the 028 but the 999 will do the job.
For anyone buying these lights, specifically the 3ft 50w model there's a faulty batch. To discern if you have one of these lights, using the manual controls set the light to sunlight mode then using the up and down arrows reduce the brightness to the lowest setting then start increasing it. If the light turns a pinkish colour on the way back up at any stage you have a faulty LED driver on the green channel. I bought 4 of these and 2 were faulty. Run the test a couple of times to be sure.

Great review from you Ian from Ian 😉 here in the uk ,been looking for another light i have the fluval 2 hate it not bright enough and that yellow look ,wondeirng if this could be the one 🤔
Personally I like it better than the fluval but the app can be a pain to set up initially. I'm not sure if it's brighter as I don't have a PAR meter.

It would depend on the depth of the tank, what plants, and how much nutrients you are using.
Does the 8 times through the day work for any1 i cant get it to work
It works for me but I don't use it. I just set it for 3 times. It does need an hour between each time set so that may be part of your issue.
Is it model hg 978 is Bluetooth?
No its not the same as the 978. There is a link in the description you can check out.
I just bought a bluetooth Hyger light and my iphone cannot find the light. Yes, the bluetooth function on my phone is turned on.
Did you download the tuya app?
Yes, the light can never be discovered unless you unplug and plug the power 3 times to force it to go into discover mode.
How is the light working now as it's getting close to a year or so?
I'm still loving this light and happy with its quality.

I first got some Fluval 3.0 but I kind of feel they are super overpriced as they don't seem that bright and the spectrum is a bit weird with no green or red just a weak pink LOL
before I return the Fluval I will do some comparisions. I had the fluval next to a Hygger 957 and the 957 is brighter LOL

@@BassManStrikesI got a pair of these to try on my 6ft and for viewing pleasure there's no comparison, I'm replacing all my plant 3.0's with these. Currently though group control seems broken and I have to control each light individually.

Good catch! I didn't even notice. I'll reach out to the company for some clarification on what they mean by fully sealed.
The company got back to me and said that there are plastic plugs on both ends of the light beads are glued for sealing. It sounds like the electronics are fully sealed but not the case.

@@felixliao5801 poorly made products and the company itself is one I would not deal with because of their business practices. They also Buy reviews . If you don’t like their products they will tell you to remove the negative. If you want cheap I’d just say go with Nicrew
