    Welcome to our CZcams channel, where we bring you innovative ideas to make your printing business more successful!
    This video takes a look at some of the different options for creating a jig (template) for your Roland DG flatbed UV printer.
    There are many ways to create a jig and we look at methods including:
    📐 Printing a draft of the outlines of your designs for alignment
    📐 Using a corner guide
    📐 Cutting your own jigs from a print
    📐 Printing a grid template
    📐 Laser cutting or CNC
    📐 Vacuum forming
    This is not a definitive list but just some of the options you have to help speed up printing processes with accurate alignment. Hopefully this video helps when creating templates for your jobs.

    My company would love one of these - would save a fortune on the machine engraving + inking we have to do, although I think we'll have to hold off this year - Great technology Roland, and a very informative video, thank you.

      Hello MD! The VersUV Flatbed Printer is truly amazing! At Frames 2:43 and 4:29 , looks like they're saying to mount/embed your phone cases as level/flush as possible inside your "mass produce printing" Phone Case Jig to help prevent overspray. I can easily apply a similar technique to my traditional Paasche Airbrush Projects.

      Hi Ramiro,
      You can print onto some fabrics, but not garments to be worn on the skin due to the ink absorbing into the material it may not cure 100% and uncured UV ink should not go on your skin.

    Please could you explain further how to create the jig layout on Photoshop? Thanks

    • @RolandDGEMEA
      @RolandDGEMEA  Před 5 lety +1

      Hiya, normally it would be advisable to create your layouts using a vector based package (like Illustrator) however you could also use Photoshop. You would just need to create shapes that relate to the print area/outline of your items and lay them out on an artboard the same size as the print area of your printer.

    • @r-joule
      @r-joule Před 5 lety

      @@RolandDGEMEA Thanks. I have Coreldraw. So I create a boundary of the item I'm printing on in there, what width of print area do you recommend? Do I then export as a jpeg to photoshop?

    • @RolandDGEMEA
      @RolandDGEMEA  Před 5 lety

      @@r-joule It will depend on what printer you have, and how many of each item you want to print at once. But if you have an LEF-300 for example and you want to fit as many as you can on to a page you would make your artboard 770x330mm and export as eps or pdf. Use the outline as your template and then use the same file to add the graphics, remove the outlines and export as eps or pdf again for print! Just make sure your export is at full print size, i.e. 770x330 so you may need a bounding box.

      @r-joule Před 5 lety +1

      @@RolandDGEMEA Thanks. Any chance you could do a on screen video of you making one of these print templates? It would be very helpful as there are no videos on this subject and very little on uv printing in general. Thanks

    Some actual instructions on how to set up a jig file in AI would be great. The video needs to be much more in depth. I am not sure that all laser cutting machines can produce jigs that can work with roland uv printers. We have used our laser cutter for years and whatever we do we cannot get the jig to marry up with the print! It is always 5mm out. We have tried different software and no luck. Getting so frustrated with it. Some simple instructions would really help as it may be something wrong we are doing with the file. Please help Roland and please provide more in depth videos that actually show how to do something instead of a video that merely skims over the subject it would be really great!

      This video was a bit of an overview for people to get a broad understanding of jigs. With many products and template varieties it is hard to do a full how-to from the design side. We do have another short jig video that may help? czcams.com/video/eWb-IJC1zmY/video.html&t
