One thing I really wish Toyota did more with their higher end car is their wool fabric they've used in the old Century. Leather looks nice and everything, but they it gets hot, leather seat, no matter how much perforation and cooling they add, simply isn't comfortable enough on a long ride.

I can’t agree more with you. Our family owns a Toyota LC200 with fabric interior and I can tell you that a 10 hour long drive under 32°C it is so much better to have fabric seats than in our older bmw x5 with a full leather interior.
If the owner is frugal rich like Warren Buffet he’d go for the Century which is definitely less costly to maintain in the long run.

Toyota Sequoia

The backseat reclining feature gives the Century the win in my opinion. After all, that spot should be the focus for these cars.
I heard not anyone can purchase the car even if you have enough money. Here in Japan Toyota will interviews you to see if you really are a suitable person to be an owner of the Century and of course they could judge you are not. I'm not sure about overseas though.

Design isn't really innovative. True, being hand built is nice but the quality isn't in fact even good, trim pieces easily pull off, the headlights are flimsy plastic, the grille is cheap, but it does look fantastic, quite and comfortable.

When you see how the production of the Century is crafted, you'll think Rolls Royce is just another car. The logo alone takes 1 month to carve and they hand polish only two bumpers a day. The takt time for each car is 5 hours and they make 2 cars per month.

If you look at Toyota's current trend, I'm not surprised that they gave a new life to Century. They brought back Supra several years ago though it's not genuine Toyota car and they are bringing back Celica, MR 2 and new Land cruiser.
What I surprised was that Toyota, not their luxury brand Lexus, went 100% focused to build their best legendary luxury brand. I just can't imagine how exciting their engineers were when they heard about this project. Century has been known only in Japan because it was made for VIP use only. It has never been shipped to other countries because of the strict regulations. Now the original Century(V12) is more than 25 years old, you can buy it from individual dealers.
This Century looks to be perfect. There is one feature that this Century shares the same as the old ones: it's the rear seat that extends to the front passenger seat so that you can fully stretch your legs and relax or even sleep.
There is distinct difference between Rolls-Royce and Century. Rolls-Royce has been well known throughout the world as the most luxurious
brand. So this brand name ,as you know, comes with a premium price tag. Whether you want to pay twice as much as Century , it will come down to whether you want to associate with their brand names. Rolls-Royce or Century.
It's a luxury question and it's a $170,000 question. Do you want to pay that much extra for Rolls-Royce or not?
One thing I can say is that if you have money, it won't go wrong with either of them and I can see that some Arab rich people would buy Century and compare it with their Rolls-Royce.

@@Mr.Lambert777 ok you clearly don’t know the history of the century I think your view on the century is influence by the negative spell the mainstream North American car reviewers have put on the brand for years .. sir the century is what it is the century it’s a top class vehicle made by Toyota for years for only the Japanese royal families..after a some time after it’s production when they brought the v8 version out it was available for the high class folks in Japan ..but they only could get the v8 version the v12 version was still only reserved for Japanese royal families..now understand the century was wanted out side of Japan but wasn’t available for export because Toyota did not intent for that car to be exported because of the exclusive make of it only being a vehicle for the emperor from the jump…now you mention what you would not see rich folks drive aah sir rich Arabians love their Toyotas …..Toyota land cursers are in ownerships amongst them a lot and and a few more makes..same as any other rich folks in the world ..hell man a lot of wealthy folks have their Prius driving around in …so I am just saying don’t be a brand snob and a fanboy of what you think rich people would drive just because you have been brain wash to think that way ..rich and wealthy folks not just have rolls Royce and Bentleys park up their garage…some do but not all .

Toyota have produced a really great luxury SUV but it should really wear a Lexus badge at that price point. For me though it has to be the Rolls Royce.
It's academic to anyone who lives where cars must be driven on the right side of the road.

Admit it. People with money doesn't care about depreciation or fuel consumption. They want the best and prestige, they get rolls royce. For everyday use, they choose land cruiser or lexus LX, not Century, because it's toyota anyway

😂you ever tried the sedan? Big difference. This is new SUV based on Highlander or Lexus TX shared chassis. No it's not perfect or exclusive either, because it's mass production and will be exported to other countries
