Yes I love it! I hope MLR stays around forever I really want North America to compete with the top tiered countries ! Much support from Australia
Very entertaining, good to see rugby in the US. Some decent defence coaches might be in order, though 😉
Ya it’s like seeing u11s
good game to watch, and still a pleasure to see Bastareau! New york have a good number 13 as well
Really happy to see Mathieu Bastaro enjoying rugby in the U.S
Their defence isn't the best to say the least.
Woeful would be the adjective I would use. Hence the high scoring match.
@@AlexEwan1 Who is the D coach lol
Their*
@@yoshihorror1948 Fair point my bad
That NY kit looks like baseball shirts 👅
Really entertaining to watch. Keep up the highlights for viewers like me in NZ.
Great to see rugby taking shape in the US. Would love to move there to become a defence coach.
Totally shocked to see Basteraud...
Love how USA are actually doing set plays out of the ruck. Dope seeing the game evolve over there!
This is awesome to see👏
Cool to see professional rugby in the US! 👍🏼
Excellent surprise.
If MLS can can do it why not MLR. See the growth of soccer from basically struggling to get play in the US in early 2000s to what it is today. I can see something like that coming for Rugby in US. Take some of the athleticism we see in the NFL and direct some of those young athletes to Rugby and watch the sparks fly.
Amazing rugby.
Mlr is nuts.
I love that new york jersey
Wow that 2 years ago these types of leagues were basically fringe. So happy to see rugby grow in the US (much safer and active sport than American Football).
good game that
I would cop that NY Jersey
so is tackling optional in this league?
Rugby in America 🤨👌🏼
jerseys are c00l
Why the hell is Basteraud the number 8?
He should be prop
😂😂
Rugby needs a worldwide club tournament of 40 teams, 8 pools of 5 teams, each team plays the other in their own pool home and away, then the top two teams in each pool advances to the play offs.
A worldwide club tournament with regional qualification is the only way that Rugby can stay relevant...
You know it's bad when Basteraud is made to look like Kieran Read!
I mean, at least it’s entertaining. Would be great to see the league standard improve and rugby expand as a sport
That 13 for NY looks pretty decent
Afraid of contact. Great runner no defense, he should have been exploited.
Wtf Bastareud playing number 8?
He's back in Lyon, and also playing N°8. Even if it's obvious that he is still lacking of technics in the scrum, it suits him well I think.
Long story short, he got fat.
@@thisguyhere5837 lol yeah if it wasn't obivous
No, he's playing pack.
He is not up to backs level nowadays with his weight and slow speed. No8 suits him well with his strength
Looks like they don't even try
Even South African high school team do not make defensive errors as bad as that. So more has to be done to improve that Austin team
As time goes by theyll improve
deben mejorar un poco la defensa
I definitely could go pro in Us
American football players should play rugby league as it is similar to their game. Easier to understand the rules too, and the field markings are like a gridiron too.
Theres no point because leagues international scene is lightyears behind union
Don’t give them ideas 😒
Why do their rugby jerseys look like nba themed 😅😂
I would love to see some American rugby players come down under to us Aussies and play in the NRL or in the rugby super league
🤠🤠🤠😎😎😎💪🏽♥️
Major league Rugby, thought I was going to see a Rugby league code game, still a good game tho
Just our terminology, like "Major League Baseball" and "Major League Soccer"
American Rugby is very different than French
レベル高
Man they’re terrible... I thought the level was similar to the former Super Rugby but it’s incredibly away from it.
Americans would prefer rugby league
Pathetic. Go back to your parochial misery. Small time. Always riding the big games waves. Nobody likes whats largely a glorified rugby training drill for 80 mins.
@@blairrobert3438 why do you hate rugby league😂
@@blairrobert3438 How many games of both codes have you played?
In my experience the only people who belittle RL are those who don’t understand what it takes to make 40+ tackles per game instead of per season...
@@yoshihorror1948 the rugby is played on the rucks..and it has nothing to do with fantasious number of tackles or anything similar. RL just feels unnatural and discontinuous..
@@jordifriascacho5614 I am replying specifically to the comment above mate, so a lot of what you'd said doesn't really apply here.
I would repeat my original question though: How many games of RU and RL have you played, and to what level?
This matters.
😂
Finally usa can get things going. They have the best athletes itw so its only a matter of time till they're up w the best. Just hope they dont rig the matches like how they do nfl, nba etc. Don't bring that stuff here
A slightly off topic question but I am just getting back into mixed martial arts after few year layoff and have grown to around to a mostly solid 300 lb @48"waist and absolutely none of the Mixed Martial Arts fight shorts will fit me because they're made in tiny Asian sizes maxing out at a 40" waist with tiny chicken legs LOL... rugby shorts have all the features MMA shorts do and are probably better quality
I need a 48" waist with very large leg openings plus the rubberized or silicone waist gripper...of course no pockets
It's so ridiculous that none of the MMA manufacturers have figured out that all their sizes are in Asian dimensions so they miss out on a lot of American Sales
Even the top brand MMA manufacturers max out at a -40" waist...how stupid is that?!?!?
Who asked?
@Belfast Blue you sound like a wimpy little guy who thinks 40" waist is big or an angry little flame troll, You guys never got over that Potato Famine huh?
@@FoxTrotSUBSCRIBE_PLZ a guy who wants to know if they make rugby shorts big men's sizes because MMA shorts max out at a wimpy 40"... that's just the American average LOL
None of the big men at my gym can buy real MMA shorts because they're made in tiny sizes
@@BURGAWMMA in short, yes. Rugby shorts come in bigger sizes as well and are made to endure stress. Depending on where you're based it's just a matter of finding a clothing store that sells them. Good luck!
@@Outkast-sv9es I'm 1000% certain I'm going to have to order them online... who would you suggest to go through for an East Coast United States delivery
Man it’s funny watching Americans trying to play rugby😂🤦🏼♂️
Unfortunately the XFL & USFL are starting too take viewership away from MLR. Most Americans would rather watch a bad football 🏈 game then a good 🏉 rugby match.
Man, this looks horrendous, can’t wait to se what it’s like in a few years! Won’t ever compete with super rugby or pro14
It will if they offer more money to entice foreign players
@@alexjack5158 Yeah i read all the initial team lists originally, but if they entice more foreign star players in their prime rather than a 60 year old Matt Giteau it could very well become big. But honestly i think its probably more important to create some american stars for it to grow further
@@alexjack5158 Yeah mate no shit it was a bit of hyperbole. Experience is great but you can get experience without having a man on the cusp of 40 in the team. Pick up a second string Super Rugby 10 and toss Giteau and you get a little less experience but alot more value. This isnt Richie McCaw we are talking about its Matt Giteau for god sake
@@alexjack5158 Giteau would be better suited to be a backs coach than a back at this point
@@alexjack5158 Yes i am rather aware that Richie McCaw is a foward and Matt Giteau is a back, jesus christ. I stand by what i said Matt Giteau would make a great backs coach(yes the coach that deals with all of the back positions) hes played most of them and as a 10 your job is partially to marshall the backline so he could definitely do it. But lets not act like Giteau is an amazing player right now, id much rather see younger better international 10s in his place to add more spark to the comp. I still cant believe someone thought it was a good idea a few years ago to pay Giteau the same as what Carter was getting at the time, complete madness.
These guys should watch new zealands under 10s for some defence tips 🤣
Union is the wrong code for America and we all know it.
Unfortunately now that Toronto was killed off by Super League, the NRL obstructed the Denver Test, the RFL hasn't accepted NYCRL...nobody's trying to bring pro rugby league to us in the US.
c'est marrant mais ils sont un peu nuls quand même
wow the standard is pretty awful, not as bad as their kit designs but still very bad.
Somebody done messed around and woke up the sleeping Giant!! Just a matter of time before Americans dominate rugby
can't wait about time. it'll make the game more interesting having another contender imo
tee_saw the greatest athletes are in their Four major leagues, if they could commit a percentage of those resources and athletes to rugby they’ll be lethal
@@dax274 are the greatest athletes not in the Olympics as that's where they have the most success
Samuel Pinder how many olympians you know can catch, pass, block and tackle? You sure as sh*t ain’t finding an equestrian or a diver lining up at the slot or attacking the A gap!!
@@dax274 Olympic rugby and also the olympics actually mean something on a world scale the superbowl doesnt
EUA no tiene rugby 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
League > union
Union>league
Boring......
