    Enjoy the new dishdrawer. We installed two singles on either side of our sink in 2002, and apart from a couple of minor repairs they are still going strong.

    Cafe Double Drawer Dishwasher installed in January 2024; I LOVE IT! It’s spacious, quiet & cleans the dishes well. Multiple settings; normal, pots/pans etc..allows you to adjust based on your load. Designed to take powder detergent vs. pods. However, the pods can be placed in the silverware container. Great investment.

      I just got mine in February and I love it, too. It's perfect for a single person. Maybe I've been doing something wrong, but some of the washed dishes have detergent granules on them. I was happy to see your tip about detergent pods.

      Al🌺ha! We just had our new cafe double door dishwasher installed last week! I have been struggling with the dang cascade pod to fit into that tiny dispenser! I smashed it down, and the little door never opened up to disperse it!
      THANK YOU FOR THE TIP about putting it in the SILVERWARE CONTAINER!!!
      So many Mahal🌺s!

    Very cool! Thank you for sharing this video. I had no idea drawer dishwashers existed and I love the straight-to-the-point no-nonsense advice from a working professional!!!!! Very valuable information. As for anyone who challenges you or doesn't appreciate your gracious offer of sharing your years of experience for free? I have had two of those dish-drawer dishwashers, and I will keep that style because I don’t like bending all the way down to put dishes in and out of a standard opening dishwasher. I rarely use anything but the upper drawer, I don’t have to bend over at all.

    Drawer dishwashers are not new. Fisher & Paykel introduced them in *1997*. Mine will be 20 years old (bought in 2003) in a few more months. F&P produced models for the KitchenAid brand in 2004 for a short time. Whirlpool bought Maytag in 2006 and got a different drawer unit design (which had not yet been produced) from Maytag in that deal. They put it into production for a few years as the 2nd-generation KitchenAid model and also on the Maytag and Kenmore Elite brands. Those are all discontinued years ago, leaving Fisher & Paykel as the only current manufacturer for the brand-labels with which they're associated. Haier bought F&P in 2012. Haier bought GE appliances division in 2016. Thus the connection between F&P and GE/Café.

    Oh, I didn't know anyone but Fisher & Paykel had drawer style dishwashers. I have the F&P one. We use the top drawer for washing and I store canning jars in the bottom drawer.

  • @aday1637

    Just bought a GE and it lasted 2 months then kaput. GE is no longer making appliances and sold it's appliance division to Haier of China. I wound up purchasing a Fisher & Paykel, having owned one before, twice, and am waiting for it's arrival so I can install it. The GE people did give me a partial refund for the 2 month old unit (which has a plastic tub and drawers and melted). All in all, I'm glad to go back to the Fisher & Paykel 2 drawer model. They just work. Not sure I'd buy another GE model.

    • @TheGrumpyPlumber
      @TheGrumpyPlumber  Před 6 měsíci +1

      When you want to pause a drawer dishwasher, the GE we have, you knock three times on the drawer and then you can open the door, do what you need to do quickly, close the door and then it should start again.

    Just got one. However asking about your stainless sink with the big apron or spillway in the front. Can you talk about it because always have water splash damage to my cabinets below the sink.

    • @TheGrumpyPlumber
      @TheGrumpyPlumber  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I installed the sink so it hangs over the cabinets so we don’t get the water on the cabinet doors. I didn’t think about that when putting in my farmhouse sink. I wanted the faucet deck to be larger and I also liked the look of the sink.

    • @TheGrumpyPlumber
      @TheGrumpyPlumber  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Bottom drawer of dishwasher is used when family comes and when we have company over for dinner which is more often than every three months. Most of the time we do just use the top drawer for just the two of us. Thanks for watching.

    How long does a cycle last?

    • @TheGrumpyPlumber
      @TheGrumpyPlumber  Před 10 měsíci +2

      I have a GE Caffe. I’m experimenting with using the quick cycle which takes around 20 minutes but it doesn’t dry the dishes. I use Jet Dry rinse aid which does a good job. By the time I empty the dishwasher, the dishes are dry. A normal cycle with most newer dishwashers is around two hours. There are usually a variety of cycles to choose from, all with different times. I always clean the dishes well before putting them in the dishwasher. Dishwashers are best used to sanitize the dishes and silverware. I think cleaning the dishes beforehand makes the dishwasher last longer.

    • @susanlulgjuraj4484
      @susanlulgjuraj4484 Před 10 měsíci

      Thank you for your quick response. I, too, am one of those people that slightly washes her dishes before putting them in the washer. I know, why buy one then . My dishwasher broke a month ago, and I have hesitated buying a new one. I'm glad I saw your video. I think I will make the purchase from Lowes, today. I know in the video you said that it works because there are only two of you at home now. Although I have 8 children ranging from the ages of 1-25 and all still living home(cultural) I think this will work for us because many times we only need cups to wash or vice versa. Anyways, thanks for not being grumpy : @@TheGrumpyPlumber 😜
