- The views on my last Kaleidoscope were pretty bad, so I decided to do it again. This time with some flare. I use Maple Burl and Purple pigment to make a one of a kind work of art.

One of the biggest issues I fixed was the wheel. I think the smaller wheel is a much better fit. Thanks

you make beautiful things, and I like it. so don't be discouraged because your project is not liked. It's handmade and that is never 100% pure and not everyone understands or accepts that unfortunately. But there a lot of people that do like it so keep on going and make the idea in your head come to life with wood and resin. Regards Renate

Hey what a great idea. As for the colors of s bowl. Something like the colors of a tequila sunrise. I think those colors as they fade into one another look pretty cool.

Ken as always, love the videos. This was a little different from what I was expecting. Would have been cool to see what it looks like looking through it, maybe next time. Color combo as always purple and green (might have mine done before you at this rate lol). Shape is an interesting request. I'll have to come back to that one later.

Great video as always. You should do a big egg for an Easter piece. Wooden base painted green with a basket in the center. Have it filled with leftover colored resin shavings and have some small resin eggs in and around it and maybe a brown rabbit jumping over it held in place by an acrilic rod.
Great idea!! Unfortunately I released my Easter video last week on accident. Not sure I have time to make a project so in-depth.
It was a pleasant surprise to see that you were making kaleidoscopes! I remember enjoying their lively patterns, when I was younger. We have to trust that these work, as we can't see through the eyepiece. I'd imagine they'd be pretty cool!
With respect to the leftover resin: Some turners collect it in containers, whose contents later form blocks for further turning. I've seen some really pretty pieces done that way...Just a suggestion. 😃

Mr. Moon, I can't speak for anyone else, but I have to say your first kaleidoscope video was one of my favorites. I learned a lot from it, even from the things that didn't turn out how you wanted them. Watching your videos not only inspired me to start this account so I could subscribe, comment when I want (even though I can't on Roku or I would more), and keep up with your new videos, but ignited an interest that is quickly growing as I learn more. It might be awhile before I'm making things that are more than just practice, but I'm starting. That's something I didn't think would ever happen. I've spent a long time dealing with my service related issues, and it's been a long time since I was able to find something I was able to get into or care about. From your videos, I've found a bunch of other guys on CZcams that do similar amazing things and have even started to imagine things of my own to try once I'm good enough. Perhaps one days soon I'll have some cool things of my own to show. Thanks for doing what you do, and not being afraid to show that it doesn't always go right, and sometimes you have to adjust course because something didn't work right. Thank you GT. I use turning to deal with my service connected issues. Be careful as turning can become addictive. lol I put more money into this than anything else. Practice is the key. When I'm not doing resin turning videos I am practicing doing different designs on pure wood creations. Practice is the key. Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you create.

I love kaleidoscopes. I have one with little crystals in it. It was my dad's I loved it so much he gave it to me.
LeighAnn loves then also. We have one from the 1920s with crystals for the wheel.

Always like watching your videos. This one took a surprise turn - I was expecting you to turn a bowl and somehow bring all the parts together but you surprised me with an actual kaleidoscope! Very ingenious design. I don’t mind you redoing projects because you learn from them and make them better. And despite trouble showing its ugly head you triumphed once again. Great job and video.

My family once went to a kaleidoscope museum and saw a bunch that were really intricate and had oil inside with floating bits of glass and beads. If you could do one like that, it would be really fascinating. Other than that, maybe anything with liquid and floating pieces? I’ve tried making many myself and they always leak; wondering if you have any tricks about it :) Love your videos as always!
I've been working on a Lava Lamp for about two years now. Still haven't gotten it right. Not sure I could get something like that to work.

Wow that purple is cool that sucks that it pulled off but think if you did drill some holes that would look cool when you turn it down you could do it different colors that stuff set up quickly then mad and no bubbles cool as for next one you could try my idea on a liquorice allsort bowl I said about one time lol that be cool and as far as these kaleidoscopes go why people no like it's a different take on a classic although making one with the wheel inside be sweet
I really not sure why that video did so bad. Even now it only has 7k views. This one already has 4.2k. When I used this resin it was still in the experimental stage. I sent in some improvements needed and now I hear it's a rock solid resin.

Very nice, Ken. It's a different spin (no pun intended) on the ones I had as a youngster with pieces of plastic captive between two pieces of glass/clear plastic and you rotated the whole thing while viewing.

No not that I’m aware of. Most classic Kaleidoscopes have glass or something like that.

First I’ve seen the turn table! You did get the style I recommended 😊 Do you like it! Almost seems light you need a little bit stronger light with some but some just glow so so nice with it!
Fun idea! I thought kaleidoscopes had mirrors inside that gave the trippy effect when you look through…do these have mirrors inside?
You can see the mirrors being put in at 12:25. I did get the one you recommended, but it's a little to big. Good enough for government work I guess. lol

My favorite color combos are a medium purple, gunmetal grey, and teal or medium purple, gunmetal grey, and bright yellow.
