    I think the best Eagles team not to win the Super Bowl was a team that didn't even make the playoffs: the 1991 team. Randall Cunningham was coming off his best season in 1990 and expectations were through the roof, but he went down in Week 1. The Eagles went through that season with like four different QBs and rode one of the best defenses of all time (5 All Pros) to a 10-6 record and missed the playoffs. I've always thought if Cunningham had not gotten hurt they would've been unstoppable. Because they didn't make the playoffs hardly anyone remembers. The D-line had Reggie White, Jerome Brown, and Clyde Simmons at the peaks of their careers. That team would make a fascinating subject for one of your videos.

      You are CORRECT. The 1991 Philadelphia Eagles had the greatest defense; statistically, of all time. They lost Cunningham, and were backed up by three of the worst qbs I have ever seen... we still finished 10 - 6. Our division was loaded back then, though... the Redskins, Giants, and Cowboys were all Super Bowl caliber teams that year, if I'm not mistaken.

    I keep watching the part you introduce TO. The music is really fitting for when he shakes off the LB and takes it to the end zone. Honestly, how many WRs in NFL history had his combination of size, speed, strength and ability. To literally shrug an LB off his back then beat everyone down field. Guy was a monster.

You can bring up spygate all you want but it was crap like that that cost the Eagles this game. Andy Reid and his notoriously bad clock management skills kill them in the biggest moment.

      Irene Williams Well... you don’t say “Rome started its empire only when it conquered [a certain number of kingdoms]”. You say it started an empire when it actually STARTED an empire, even if, technically, yes it wasn’t yet an empire at the start. So “starting a dynasty” and “cementing a dynasty” are two completely different things. And it’s the second one that’s right.

    • @ZhangK71
      @ZhangK71 Před 6 lety +4

      Irene Williams The current Patriots run of brilliance has already lost a Super Bowl before - back in 2007 AND 2011. But did you say their dynasty ended then? If so, how did you feel about the two more they won afterwards? What about all the conference championships they lost? Or the fact that they didn’t even make the playoffs in 2002? Did that break the “one-championship” dynasty that they had in 2001? Does that mean 2001, 2003, 2004 is actually just 2003, 2004?

    • @ExtremelyToxic
      @ExtremelyToxic Před 6 lety +2

      ps3 illuminati all I'm saying is that if you look back historically. That's the patriots lowest scoring victory in the super bowl. I'm pretty sure. You can't stop Brady, but our defense slowed him down and we only lost by thrre points.... And McNabb THREW A PICK IN THE RED ZONE. We had David Akers, essentially three points guaranteed. But McNabb threw it away

    • @pp3k3jamail

      Nitro Gaming Some of you are dumb Eagle fans that blame McNabb too damn much first of all you're not going to win a Super Bowl when your quarterback throws 50+ times the eagles only had 48 yards rushing that's typical Andy Reid play calling. How about Jim Johnson and the defense not covering Mike Vrabel on that touchdown when he did it the year before against the Panthers and a couple of times that season. How about the defense in the second half making Deion Branch look like Jerry Rice 11 catches for 180 really and you want to put it all on McNabb go fuck yourself.

    • @ExtremelyToxic
      @ExtremelyToxic Před 6 lety

      MICOLE WHYTE I am not putting all the name on McNabb... No shit the okay calling was horrible. Especially having such a great running back, such as Westbrook. But three picks. Including one in the rezone, which would have tied the game (retrospectively) if we had just gotten the field goal. But putting blame on the defense instead of the offense is nonsense. Especially when the qb gives the opposing team 3 extra possessions.... The team was still better than the patriots on the whole. They just had injuries, bad play calling, the flu, etc etc...

    Great video but inaccurate. Before TO arrived aside from McNabb & Westbrook the rest of the offense skills positions were below average. WRs Freddie Mitchell, todd pinkston were trash to name but a few. TE Chad Lewis wasn't great but made important catches in NFC championship game to take the eagles to the Superbowl. LT Tra Thomas definitely wasn't the best LT in football although he was v good (pro bowl level). The O line regularly gave up sacks & a huge amount of QB pressures (giants DEs Strahan & osimenyora loved them) On the defensive side Dawkins was a beast. Trotter was still good against the run but after returning from the redskins was a shadow of his former self. Kearse was largely ineffective compared to his time as a Titan. The defensive line was average at best with two young good corners Sheldon brown & lito Sheppard (who were awful after they left the eagles system). This team had been to 3 consecutive NFC CHAMPIONSHIP Games prior to TO arriving & lost. When TO was there they got over the hump to the Superbowl without TO as he was injured (as you mentioned). This team in terms of talent was nowhere as good as the gang green defense team of the early 90s. But is similar to them in terms of having a great QB Randall Cunningham but not much in the skills positions. I don't mean to offend I love your videos but McNabb like Cunningham way before him never had the pieces on the offensive side of the ball like Wentz currently has. TO was one season only.

    • @EagleZtoTheGrave

      Is Az Todd Pinkston was not trash, he played way better than most other guys on the roster. Team philosophy was apparently don't bite on WR in the first round or over pay for them, huge mistake apparently... Our defensive line in 2004 was darn good with a decent rotation, LB group was good too. If Chad Lewis played that Superbowl, eagles I bet would've won. The reason the O-line gave up sacks though, to me, is the lack of balance between run and pass, the Achilles heel if Andy Reid. Look no further than his last playoff game...

    • @isaz597
      @isaz597 Před 6 lety

      EagleZtoTheGrave I respect your opinion but I will politely disagree with pinkston he was average at best I can guarantee he wouldn't make a top 10 team of that times roster (he was the 2nd receiver at philly & probably the 1st before Owens arrived as Freddie Mitchell was trash). The D line wasn't anywhere as disruptive as the current d line. The DTs Hollis Thomas, Darwin Walker & 1st round pick Corey Simon weren't great. At DE Jevon Kearse never lived up to his free agency contract & burgess coming of Achilles injury was ineffective. Hugh Douglas was by this time McNabb's cheerleader & jerome mcdougle added zilch to the rotation. The linebacker group was average with an old trotter with decent players like dhani Jones, simoneau & ike Reese from the players I could remember (believe me non of them are memorable). I'll give you the eagles played the run well because of trotter but the coverage skills in short scenarios were below average with tight ends in particular having a field day against the eagles linebackers. The lines on both sides of the ball were what Andy Reid built the team around & the O line against elite D lines was porous even with notable players like tra Thomas, Runyan & Shawn Andrews. McNabb use to be scrambling around to look for open receivers (who would find it difficult to get open). Westbrook was his safety valve both running & catching screens. The eagles in the 90s were a better team even though on the offensive side Cunningham was the entire Offense almost (that's when he got injured it was over). The defense was immense.
