    Instead of appreciating the car for what it is, you wasted the entire video comparing it to a car that it's not supposed to be compared to. There's a reason why they didnt make this as good as the EVO. It's because the EVO already exist! As a car guy, you should have known better coming into this review. But because you didnt, all you manage to do is point out all the reasons why it's not an EVO and make a bad review for a good car. Very disappointing.

    • @DazdnCofuzd
      @DazdnCofuzd Před 10 lety +7

      Ya, I agree he spent most of the video criticizing the car and giving half hearted compliments, while he was comparing it to the Evo. Not the best review I've seen. It's okay not to like the car, but to constantly compare to an Evo was wrong(now if u had an Evo there to do a side by side, then I'd be okay with it).

      It's perfectly acceptable to compare anything to anything as long as you accept that two different things will produce a different result.
      Its when you compare something expensive to something cheap and expect the cheap model to have the same features as an expensive model where one goes wrong.
      Plus the Lancer and Evo??? Same car. Hell, this is less about comparing and more a game of spot the difference.
      Apart from some wings and splitters and a different bonnet, theres not much difference though from what I'm seeing.
      In this situation, comparison is perfect. It helps one assess whether its even worth it to buy the Evo. Personally, I say not.
      This stock lancer with a few Ralliart touches is nice yo. Super nice in fact. Cheaper on the insurance no doubt, definitely willing to bet better fuel economy as well as the thing will no doubt last longer than the evo as cars that are harder driven wear out quickly and this car won't be hard driven as the person who buys this doesn't have the Evo 'I must go fast everywhere' mentality.
      Those dicks just buy the Evo instead.
      This stock lancer? It has the nice Lancer look and styling without needing to inject itself in the arse with bullshark testosterone every day like the Evo does.

    There’s something people seem to ignore about this car though. It’s got the same engine and transmission as the EVO X MR just with a smaller turbo, and it’s not really a bad thing. And a lot of people don’t know that the chassis, AWD system, brakes, and suspension are all from the EVO 9. So yeah it’s a parts bin EVO that they called the Ralliart because well EVO 9-3/4 just wasn’t gonna cut it. But regardless under the hood and behind the base looks of the body. It’s still an EVO

      It's a Twin Clutch transmission. They have the option to pop it in Manual-Driving mode so you can choose when to shift. If the stick was like an auto, there would be no way for the shifter to act like a manual. The SST transmission is way better than any standard automatic transmission. Other than cosmetics with the shift boot, who cares lol.

I can't quote him word for word, but he said something to the effect of "The spirit of the Evo will live on in our hybrid electric SUV". Mitsubishi as performance enthusiasts know it is dead. They're focusing on "green" hybrid electric vehicles. Though they have interesting technology in that specific field, they have abandoned the things that made them great. I don't think they will have the success that they want with this new route.

    That being said, I do agree with most of this review.I have a 2010 model. and besides the head unit, it's about the exact same as the 2014 model. Stock suspension does fall a bit short. That being said, I got mine for about 14 grand which is cheaper than quite a few base models... so I'm very satisfied on that front (and of course mine isn't really stock anymore either :P). I've driven a 2015 wrx, and yes it's a hands-down no contest there. Haven't driven the last gen of wrx though, but I think the only think I'd take from the ralliart to that is the AWD which is actually pretty fantastic compared to my last Subaru (08 Legacy GT).

    A bit of feedback from a RA owner of 2 years:
    The Ralliart certainly isn't as good as the new WRX, but I like it way more than the old one. Body roll is about the same (a modest drop fixes that easily), but the interior (as cheap as it is) is actually noticeably nicer and the transmission and AWD are a lot better as well. The reason it has slightly reduced trunk space are the diffs from the AWC system, which make the car handle amazingly in the corners when you push it. WRX still doesn't have anything close to that, not to mention the SST transmission. Btw you should have tried it in Sport Auto, that's where the power delivery really shines.

    • @MrGovenator1
      @MrGovenator1 Před 10 lety +2

      Im sorry, but the WRX is miles ahead of the ralliart. Honestly all it really needed was a comparable cheaper suspension set up to the evo, that is all it severely needs. It would be great to if they offered their manual on it too. Hopefully they will notice this in the future. It is way nicer than the previous generation ralliart though.

    • @AlDim000
      @AlDim000 Před 10 lety

      MrGovenator1 I've driven both and liked the Ralliart a lot more. The older WRX has a bit more power and is slightly lighter (mainly because of how basic it is), but its crappy 5-speed manual is nowhere near the level of the TC-SST and the AWD system is way less advanced than the one on the Ralliart (which has front and rear diffs similar to an Evo or STI). The WRX is slightly faster in a straight line, but that's about it.
      Now the new WRX is definitely a lot better, but that's to be expected.

    • @MrGovenator1
      @MrGovenator1 Před 10 lety

      AlDim000 True about the 5 speed. I don't understand why it took subaru so long to replace it with a 6 speed. I just don't understand how they took the time and money to put those diffs in, and still left the regular lancer suspension. Its what really steers me away from the car, not to mention it needs a manual option. That has to be the biggest deal breaker. In a car that doesn't have face ripping speed, I would need something to make it more interesting, rather than flicking some paddles around. Not to mention it needs the wide body of the Evo. WIth out it, it just looks kind of out of proportion.

    • @AlDim000
      @AlDim000 Před 10 lety

      MrGovenator1 Look at it this way - tweaking the suspension isn't too expensive or difficult to do. The Ralliart comes with a fairly soft suspension and basic tires, but the drivetrain (engine, AWD system, transmission) are at a really high level, well above anything in its class. Sure, that ended up making it more difficult to sell in a world that only cares about the most obvious specs, but it is a good car that takes very little to turn into something great. At the same time the old WRX started with more appealing basic specs, but is way more ordinary once you take a closer look.

    • @MrGovenator1
      @MrGovenator1 Před 10 lety

      AlDim000 I have heard that its really easy to make more power out of the ralliart. And that its really easy to get to evo power figures. I know doing some suspension work is fairly easy, and is quite common, but I just don't understand why they didn't do it straight from factory. I guess I would really have to drive one to understand

    For a guy in his 30's or 40's that maybe has a family and lives in four season climates that likes a car that is quick and fun to drive, I can see this car being perfect for that person. That's just my opinion obviously. For me at 35, I would take this over an EVO because the ride quality is better, the seats are more comfortable and this car is not as boy racer looking as an EVO... Although, I don't care for the wing on the back of this model. I like the previous smaller spoiler that was on the Ralliart.

    I own a 2014 RA and I agree with some of what you said about it. I've had mine for about 6mo. and noticed some stuff I don't really like. I do agree for the price some things should of been done better, seats, stereo etc.. I actually like the way the transmission feels at slow speeds, though at times the herky jerky feel does annoy at times. I think around 3k rpms is when the turbo kicks in and the fun begins, wish it had a double scroll like the evo to help with lower rpm lag. Steering is good imo, feels light and crisp, and even though SST is an old tech, I still love it. One think I do notice and hate is Mitsubishi's paint, it's very thin and weak imo, I live near more of industrial area and already got a lot of chips on it. but overall I enjoy the car, It's just nice to see a review of this car that's not old(ya, car hasn't changed in years, but...)

    I had a 2009 ralliart that in puerto rico was sold with all the options like hid, rockford sound, moonroof with the exception of the evo seats. But I prefer the regular ones they are more comfortable than the recaro for daily driving. Got it for 20k untitled best deal of my life. Great car I sold it when I moved to US still regretting that today. Tried to find one here at a good price but that was difficult. Miss the rush of a turbo car and the quickness of the SST. One thing that the RA beats the EVO badly is no trunk space and foldable rear seats. You cant do that one the EVO and that sucks.

    Before I get a lot of flak for this comment, yes, this is a very subjective opinion and not meant to rustle jimmies. It's my opinion about the content/quality of the videos. I'm still not sure how buying a new mustang will bring better quality to the content, but that's besides the point. It's just my opinion, no one cares. If you're gonna tell me that, just don't comment. If you comment about that, you can't really say that no one cares because obviously you cared enough to comment about it, even if it's an argument against my opinion…and I'll just take it that your jimmies were rustled. But I digress.
    For better content, or better quality, I think you need to fine tune your mannerisms. Don't get me wrong, they are what make your reviews special and stand out from other car reviewers' videos, but I'm talking from a standpoint of you being able to improve. I think you really need to tone down your hand gestures. They are distracting and take away from the quality. One other thing is you should try not to do those quick glances at the camera. If you are gonna talk at the camera, look at the camera. Don't be distracted from the road, but take a couple seconds to make the eye contact with the lens to show a connection with your audience. Awkwardly making those quick glances at the lens then quickly looking away is also very distracting from the content you are trying to convey. I really think it will greatly help the quality of your videos.
    Please don't just let this pass. Seriously consider my suggestions. Keep it up!
