Here we try to explain the Goods and Service Tax Bill which has received a lot of attention in business and political circles lately. . Here’s how GST differs from the current regimes, how it will work, and what will happen if Parliament clears the Bill.
Goods and service tax (GST) will be applicable from 1st July 2017.
GST will be one of the biggest taxation reforms to take place in India once the Bill gets the official green signal. The basic idea is to create a single, cooperative and undivided Indian market to make the economy stronger and powerful. The GST will make a significant breakthrough paving way for an all-inclusive indirect tax reform in the country.

Why GST is not applicable on Alcohole, Toabacco Items, Petrolium Products ????
Gud question Kevin.. GST must be applicable on these products also. But some states were not agree because they earn huge tax from these products and they do not want to loose these revenue. May be these products will be included in GST.

There should be 200% increase in tax on Alcohol, Tobacco and tobacco products except petroleum products.
chakchake naani ha yar sahi bola , alcohol tobacco ko itna mehenga kar dena chahiye ki admi ka pina mushkil ho jaye..

Right now state govt are enjoying huge margin and most of the license holders are our pyaare netas, GST may bring these champions(netas) in light and they may hv to go transperant but income of state govt. is still the biggest stone for gst on daaru shaaru.

I want to know whether full amount of GST will go to central govt. at first instance and then the state has to claim from them later or state share will be collected at the recovery stage

No Suman GST is payable on value addition only and input tax credit (ITC) is available in every subsequent stage. So there is no question of cascading effect.

Sir should i be liable to pay if my PG owner asking 18% GST... My PG owner an illiterate guy -suddenly one day he's asking to pay 18% extra cause of GST -i explained him tht previously it was 15 nw gone upto 18%(3%),.. Is GST applicable for PG/Mansions also..
Bikramjit Das haha that is the biggest challenge government has.. All small businesses people like small shops or vegetable vendors in the name of GST have increased price... These people don't give any receipt... There is no guarantee too that these people pay taxes to government... In those cases how is the government going to tackle??
sir what is igst?
It is Integrated Goods and service tax which will be imposed on interstate supply of goods and services. It is not a separate tax but it is a method of collecting tax.
interstate or integral gst which will be use when goods will be transported from one state to another,& in that case Sgst will not be included only igst needs to be paid :)
