KS was not even expressing an opinion - she was stating a biological fact about male and female anatomy and sexual reproduction.
In mammalian species, including humans, a male cannot become female, or vice versa. That's a brute fact.
And it is not being kind or polite to facilitate somebody else's delusion if they are chasing an impossible goal that is inevitably doomed to failure - although that may be the easiest option.

The idea that biology is considered an “extreme view” is pretty extreme.
Biologist here. We fully acknowledge that sex/gender are two different things, and humans can fully identify as another gender since it's a social category. Please don't misrepresent biologists and scientists.

@@jamespope7669 Read my main comment on this video: gender is informed by sex but clearly as human beings in an incredibly complicated social world there are many things that can derail the 'default', much like heterosexuality can be derailed by endocrinological circumstances in vitro.
Trans people cannot change sex but they can change a couple of major biological indicators for sex (that's all sex is, just a range of indicators), and so changing those helps them to feel as though they have edged closer to an alignment between their social gender and their 'sex', while not able to align fully.

Believing sexist stereotypes define men and women, instead of their biological sex, is unquestionably sexist to the core, because you are saying men and women are not actually free to behave however they want but need to conform to these sexist stereotypes in order to be men or women - if you say no they don't have to act any sort of way as a man or woman, and being a man or woman has nothing to do with biology - then what are you describing by calling someone a man or woman? If you think it doesn't describe biology, and doesn't describe anything about their looks or behaviour, then what on earth are you basing defining anyone as a man or woman on??? Why would a man need to become a "trans woman" in order to be their "authentic selves", why can't they just be a very feminine man and dress/act however they want?
If trans ideology isn't sexist, then why would a man ever need to "transition" if either sex is completely free to act however they want? How can you claim to be opposing sexism when the whole basis for anyone feeling the need to transition, literally is sexism?
How is gender identity" any different from what sexist stereotypes a person feels drawn to? Or simply their PERSONALITY? And, if sex and gender are separate, then why should "transitioning gender" allow MALES into FEMALE-ONLY spaces, they never changed, nor can they change, their sex. The interviewer needs to learn to shut up. He asks a question and when Kathleen answers and HE doesnt like that answer HE over talks her, so rude. I likecto listen to Kathleen. This interview was one sided as they would notblisten to her.
Unfortunately he's one of a few that's like that. If you don't let the other person speak, it shows you are afraid of them gaining ground through to the strength of their argument. There is nothing extreme about Kathleen's position. This debate has become crazed. It's not about what we call someone who has transitioned, it is about, as Kathleen says, where the limits are for safety and fairness.
The gaslighting from these presenters is unbelievable. Rather than listening to what Kathleen has to say and understanding her point of view, they are just trying to force their own ideological beliefs onto her. Kathleen was the only voice of reason through this entire interview.
The most idiotic thing about this interview is that the views of the aptly named Balls aren't his actual views. He's just pandering and doing a pathetic job of it. You know in private, this sexist fossil who speaks over women rather than listen to what they are saying would 100% agree with Stock's opinion that biological sex is binary-male and female-and a small percentage of people suffer from gender dysmorphia so only feel content living as the opposite sex, which is perfectly fine, but this does not make them the opposite sex.

Kathleen Stock is talking basic common sense. Her job is to investigate the scientific evidence dispassionately and report on the results. I am appalled that people are treating her so terribly.
Ed Balls doing what so many men do, mansplaining to a woman what a woman is, and apparently he thinks he knows what most people thinks. He is so wrong most women agree with Kathleen Stock and we are sick of being told that men can be women, when they can't and aren't. Balls doesn't have to have his rights infringed upon and eroded, nor his identity appropriated and in many cases made a mockery of by these men, nor does it affect the language used where as women are demeaned by the use of dehumanisiing language all for the sake of the feelings of men. Kathleen Stock is an intelligent woman making sensible well considered arguments, and who speaks for most women despite what Ed Balls thinks and says, if only the other side was as considered and intelligent as Kathleen Stock.

Fine, call trans-women women in certain circumstances if they have transitioned and it makes you feel better about yourself, but they are not LITERALLY women. Why is that so hard for these people to comprehend? It's certainly not an extreme viewpoint!

Great interview. Stock makes clear and cogent requests. A conversation must be had, there can be no ‘no debate’ on this because this affects more than half of the human population vs half of 1%. And their obsession with harming kids must end.

Yes , I'm sick of woke people re inventing words, look up any old dictionary and the word gender means biological sex male or female, been that way for 1000's of years. There should be no need for debate as it's so bloody obvious what a women or a man is.

The arrogance of this man, who has always been something of an absurdity. A few minutes in when she Kathleen Stock challenges him on what he he thinks he knows - there is a look of sheer pride and contempt. Says it all.
Misogyny still rules. Women we must stand up to this and stop this eroding of our words, sports (even if it’s being stopped at elite level - it’s still needs sorting at grass roots) and safe spaces.
It isn’t misogyny that is the driver of this. It is the outcome of progressivist ideology, which has a majority of women. It’s history is founded in the likes of Foucault and Baker, queer and feminist ideology. The founding principle is that gender -and biology - are social constructs, and that society invents these norms, which are arbitrary. The idea of the blank slate is either explicitly or tacitly approved. More traditional groups like conservatives and religious groups, which are generally male-centric, are actually the groups most critical of the current trans issue. It pays to keep in mind that trans groups consist of both biological males and females, it’s just that trans women get all the attention from the media. I think it is important to understand what drives this. If we believe it is “the patriarchy” then we are barking up the wrong tree, and will fail to see the limitations and problems within progressivist ideology.

@@powerandpresence5290 , while I completely agree with you, I do see that misogyny enables this part of the ideology to grow and take hold. Look at old Eddy, for example, he can't see why blokes in dresses, blokes who've been convicted of rape, shouldn't be housed with vulnerable women in prison. He is a misogynist, and many women are too, pandering to males. Many women detest other women.
