This should definitely be a recurring series on your channel. I'd only heard of Dominion Tank Police and Record of Lodoss War before, everything else here is entirely new to me.
I'll try to find even more obscure stuff that's pretty good next time
Out of these shows, I prefer Armitage III and Dominion Tank Police, with their combination of weird comedic scenes with some very emotional moments. In Dominion Tank Police, The villain is a very tragic figure. Armitage III shows a badass mother, who despite her origins, act more humane than most humans in the show.
Iria, opening/ soundtrack and storytelling or adding to the plot 👌
Also found her to be attractive, not just due to looks.
I rewatched the Record of Lodoss war . Still as great as is. I wish Game of Thrones was adapted into an anime. And i haven't seen the Tv series of Lodoss yet which is weird cause it came with my Blu-ray set.
By the anime gods I feel old, I own all of these.
It's more fun discovering/collecting older anime than watching new anime nowadays. IMHO
Tank Police was literally the first Anime I ever owned. Still have the VHS tapes. Yes, I am old.
There is a documentation about the creation of Gunsmith Cats which is absolutely awesome.
I've seen it. The part where they shoot guns was my favorite but listen to how they made the music was interesting too.
@@CulturedCrusader The fact they just went through all areas of chicago.. in that time.. and used pictures they took as almost 1:1 for the backgrounds really gave the show some very unique vibes.
I love the 80s
keep this up man, good channel
Nice overview! I own 4 of these myself. Ahh, it reminds me of the better years of anime, like Cyber City OEDO 808, Golgo 13, AD Police, Wicked City, Angel Cop, etc! ~^.^~
Great video Crusader, I was starving for anime to watch
Gunsmith cats is fire
Still putting out fucking gold. Love the videos. Keep it up brother.
Battle Royal High School is unironically one of my favorite things I've seen, and I've ended up adding a lot of these to my watch list
include Bio Hunter and Genocyber, Animatrix, Mellowlink, and the JoJo Part 3 OVAs for the second video
Gunsmith cats mentioned, my day is made.
Gunsmith Cats is a keeper. Best OVA I've ever seen.
@@CulturedCrusader Kenichi Sonoda tried pitching a Bean Bandit anime to a few japanese publishers a few years back with a newly produced OVA but that didn't go anywhere. Guess we gotta make do with what we have. Same thing happened with other amazing OVAs like Pet Shop of Horrors and Denpa-teki na Kanojo. Few episodes with an amazing story.
Worth noting, Zeiram was a couple of live action movies made by a power rangers type effects crew. Kinda worth watching just for the live action effects. For the first one.
I'm ready to get lost in the OVA sauce, my life needs more tomboys in tanks
Viseo girl ai... not getting... love... dude that OVA is a stone cold CLASSIC
I had never heard of it before I made this video but I'm glad to hear a lot of people have seen it
Nice
a 13/50 joke, i appreciate it.
Legit an unrated channel, honestly you just need a little algorithm push.
Thanks man! I'm sure CZcams will figure out who to show my videos to eventually
Record of Lodoss War, that's a good one.
Very true. But is the TV version any good? I heard it has a different VA cast and animation quality
My two cents. Bride of Deimos really should have had an entire series. A.D Police Files. And I'll stop with Mermaids Forest. You could really go on for hours when it comes to OVA's
Can you make a list of best popular OVAs? I feel like I’m missing some good popular ones on my watchlist. Or at least include popular ones on the next list?
My favorite OVA is Bastard!!
And I mean the 90s one, not the new series that I found so politically correct, I didn't care watching past episode 1.
If I ever got a nickel for every time theres been an ova about comedic police sqaud in a dystopian like world whose main character is a short haired tomboy who likes their machines more than anything else, I'd have 2 nickels.
Which isn't alot but its funny it happened twice
Iria i love i wach i a million times, desert rose that ova was amaizing, so much pack in so little, gunsmith cats for Rally being a secondary characther, to having an ova and a manga, such underrate, beauty, and dominion tank, watch the ova and the serie, i love it, i mean, it was like a b movie, fun and not pretencious
Tut, you bring up Dominion Tank Police without atleast a casual mention of Patlabor?
Otherwise known as the other cop franchise with a cute red headed tomboy who is in love with her machine, and delivers justice through excessive firepower.
Also my favourite guilty pleasure for a bit of 80s ultra violent shlock is Violence Jack. Three OVAs, the plots aren't much, but when the violence kicks off you're in for a visceral ride.
I didn't mention Patlabor because I do plan on making a video about the whole Patlabor series at some point. I just need to get around to watching it all first.
@@CulturedCrusader That's fair, there is a lot of Patlabor (in fact I think I still have half a TV series to watch - ha)
Hey first long vid on the channel! Never heard of any of these anime before
Never saw the anime, but in the new metroidvania game everyonevsupposedly died in it. Only the elf girl survived. That was a twist to me.
I want to say Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight is good, but I don't think I can. In many ways it stands as a decent-to-good standalone anime but expects you to be just familiar enough with the OVA that it has to be viewed as a companion piece/sequel, and in that context it just doesn't stand up.
Also, Pirotess best elf
Based video
Based Content
Subbed + Belled
Btw, I knew Video Girl Ai looked familiar...the same people made DNA2!
Those Demon Slayer's villians have character arcs like in Metal Gear Solid 1.
I dunno anything after season 1.
You are so based
"I lied, I don't have Netflix"
Busting out the 1 terabyte ssd really has a way of scaring upstanding young women
@@ManicMekka probably why she left. I guess size really does matter :(
and they haven't made a Armitage real movie yet
0:09 alright whats this one?
green hair
The Kubikiri Cycle. I've got a video on it. Has a blue haired chick in the thumbnail.
Shouldve mentioned Area 88. One of the first OVAs ever.
Never heard of that one before. I'll add it to the list of things I need to watch
CC, when will come home from your crusade in the arabian video stores?
I’ve watched most of these
@@CulturedCrusader yes, actually. It’s always interesting to learn some more.
Megazone 23 was kinda mid ngl. I wasn’t really into the first part besides some of the animation, but the change of aesthetic in the second part just made me feel immediately disconnected with the characters and I dipped.
The remake will probably fix that problem. If it ever actually comes out.
Entering my Rebel Taxi arc
now that's a name I haven't heard in a while.
Please dont date a transgender
@@whiskeycorridor90 I was not aware of this lol
@@whiskeycorridor90 date? I knew he had one on his podcast but dating? Stoped watching him anyway after I discovered my love for anime and when western animation started to go to shit.
