- Just a compilation of some old timers throwing it down and showing the younger generations how it's done!!
Which corps was your favorite?
0:00 - 27th Lancers
1:11 - Chicago Royal Airs
1:35 - Hawthorne Caballeros
3:06 - Madison Scouts
5:42 - Anaheim Kingsmen
7:24 - Cavaliers
9:37 - Star of Indiana
11:45 - Bridgemen
13:41 - Santa Clara Vanguard
15:47 - Bluecoats
I only included alumni corps that have performed during DCI Championships week (ones that I could find, I am sure there are others but I was not able to find them). I did not include ALL alumni corps (Boston Crusaders, Troopers, Blue Devils, etc) because they have not performed in Exhibition at DCI Championships.

Thank you everyone, it truly was our pleasure to be on the field one last time with BLOO to perform for you.
I remember lining up to 27 when I was in BLOO 94. It was absolutely AMAZING!
IF YOU EVER GET A CHANCE TO DO IT ONE LAST TIME, YOU BETTER TAKE IT OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!
As someone who marched in the 2017 vanguard alumni corps, this was a lot of fun to watch it again and see the progression of alumni corps shows over the years
I was in that amazing alumni corps as well!!
A time when life was good for teens. TY
Got to see both the 27th Lancers and the Scouts alumni corps live and they were both absolutely incredible. I'm sure all of them were a lot of fun, but I know both of those just blew me away. Bluecoats this year was just so good as well.
As many would disagree with what I will say, but I could never put myself through the pain of marching again. I've already accepted the fact I had graduated from my school and aged out from a local Corp that stepping out on a field again would make me to emotional to play. Loved every minute and would give anything to relive it all again. But not just the tease of 10 minutes and done.
I marched the first year of Bridgemen Alumni in 2006 - at age 53 !! I had NO DC experience, and had done marching band in HS and college, and was a HS band director for 2 years before I got out of the business. In early 2006 I saw the video of 27th Lancers Alumni online, and I immediately felt what those guys on the field felt. Even though I was a woodwind player, I could manage a baritone embouchure, and I knew this was truly a "bucket list" moment. I wouldn't trade it for anything on this earth !!! Getting to wear the yellow coat in its first return to the field since the corps folded in 1984 !!! Knowing what an influence the Bridgemen had on the activity in the 70's and early 80's made it even more pressure for me. I still remember noted arranger Larry Kirchner was walking through the ranks before we marched onto the field for our first performance. His wife asked me "How are you doing ?". I just said "I'm scared $hitless !!!". The thought of screwing up and disrespecting the corps and all the folks who had worked so hard just terrified me. But we made it - and it was the experience of a lifetime !!! Find an alumni corps that's going to be put together, and JUST DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the distinct pleasure of marching in the Madison alumni corps with my idols from the corps.
All of the corps here were awesome! I was most moved though by Becky conducting When You Wish Upon a Star. That beautiful sound and blend and Becky still looks great!
Man, the crowd went APE-SHIT for the Scouts!!!
I was there in Foxboro 1994. not a dry eye by the end of Danny Boy. Sure do miss 27!
Now , THAT’S DCI at it’s BEST .
A blue coater of '22 is looking jealously at its alumni corps with their proper uniforms.
Madison and Star of Indiana was a true joy to watch.
Thanks!
"jealously"? you read minds?
what if this person is the blue coater from 22'??
@@marshall3711 oh ok suuuure
Madison, SCV, Cavies, & Blue Coates gave me the chills. All are outstanding!
Those star and scouts performances really knocked it out of the park
Stars quality of sound and blend was top notch, just not volume, what a high water mark for alumni corps
LOL the bottle dance with walkers! I had forgotten about that, thank you Bridgemen. :)
Also Bluecoats.... you've really raised the bar. Just wow.
Can’t wait to be in The Cavaliers Alumni Corps! I’m so proud to be a member of that organization.
Mardi Gras parade is waiting for you… we can’t wait to have you with us after you’re old!
Thanks for the alumni shows. I miss the 27th lancers. The bluecoats put on a good show. Nothing better when you work hard, give the crowd your best effort, and get that standing ovation!
MADISON! Bloo, 27, Vanguard, these had the most emotinal reaction from me. The fact that those men and women love Drum Corp as much as 40, 50 years later and can still perform with that level of intensity and sense of tradition and dedication, blows me away. I marched in what used to be known as a "class A" corps from NYC, we never made it to "Open Cĺass" or whats known as "World Class" today, but the fun and hard work was in the trying. I would love to get together with my former corps members, most of us still keep in touch, but I can't imagine there are DCI alumni Corps performances for "Class A" or today's "Open Class". Too bad there isn't a venue for corps that existed and competed in the years before DCI.
I unfortunately don't think the alums would come out in full force, compared to someone like coats, 27th or vanguard
I performed in two of those alumni corps...
The Cavies step over drill is so classic!
Scouts holy shiiiiit
The bridgemen bottle dance is hilarious
27 the GOAT of alum corps
The bluecoats alumni show was cool to see a glimpse of what downside up would be like if they were wearing good uniforms
what is wrong with you guys? lol
Downside up would have looked absolutely terrible with the original uniforms haha. None of the choreo or prop design was made for them at all.
Sliding down a slide wearing a helmet? Yikes on bike.
Well, that was absolutely goose-bumpy.
Now THIS is how DCI was when DCI was really throwing down. Trumpets squealing every bar, loud but very controlled chaos. Hell yeah. EDIT!!!: 16:36 I WISH I WAS THERE SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spirit of Atlanta, 1980, baritone.
Georgia On My Mind!!!, let it be me,sweet Georgia brown.. WOOOOW so long ago!!!!!!
It’s so frustrating that Alumni corps play on semi-finals night instead of Finals. They need to switch that Inpact middle school kid band to semis and move the Alumni corps to finals.
disagree.
@@georgedixon9863 I love opinions that aren’t substantive in any way
it brings more people in for semis to maybe have a larger crowd for those corps that don’t normally get a full stadium
@@drumcorpslot ok... and yours was so supported how exactly"??? > I would much rather DCI Finals remains YOUTH oriented and not become about people who marched long ago. JMO as someone who enjoys alumni corps - but absolutely NOT as a distraction on finals night.
@@georgedixon9863 "The mission of Drum Corps International is to bring the life-enriching benefits and enjoyment of marching music performing arts to more people worldwide." It's about entertainment my guy. There are more people in the stadium on finals, therefore, they should've played on finals night.
Fantastic 😍 except for the tights and dancing. Bring on the rifle lines.
27 has my vote. (if we're voting) And did you catch that crowd size back in the day?
no way the BLuecoats Alumni Corps did their TILT thing! that's kinda awesome.
Seeing the Hawthorne caballeros performance brought back memories of the great Hawthorne muchachos. I saw the muchachos 1975 DCI finals prelim performance live in Philly. They were fantastic!!!! We thought they would go on to win the title. Disqualified due to over age members. While I understand the situation, still feel sorry for the members of that corps.
Need an update with Troopers Legacy Corps 2023!!!
Man I wish I could’ve been part of drum corps. Especially the Bluecoats. Sadly, I didn’t know too much about it until after the age cutoff. I just have to live vicariously through the members of today’s corps.
You forgot the Mighty St Joes 1995 & 2001
I was going to mention this too. Don't think it's an absolute must but I feel like they should be at least included in the video just because they actually went to Semis; unlike some other alumni corps.
Bloody Epic
It's a shame DCI wouldn't televise St. Joe's from Batavia in 1995.
Where was Mighty St Joe's, I was lucky enough to see them in 1995 when I came over from the UK with the Mayflower Corps when we toured that season with the Nashua Spartans.
I hope that even with all the problems that Cadets has that they would be able to do a Cadets 100 Year alumni corps in 2034
I miss the 27th Lancers
Other alumni corps, most who didn't make it to DCI- Blue Stars did though- include Phantom Regiment 2016 (50th Anniversary), Blue Knights 2018, North Star 2017, Boston Crusaders 1995 and 2005, Blessed Sacrament 2005, Colts 2013, and Emerald Knights (50th) 2015. Here's my rankings if this was a top 12 (and unfortunately I don't have scores, as hardly any of these would score above a 90 on any sheets, a few corps like Star might win horns but score very low overall having no visual program.) Madison Scouts 2006 for me will probably always be the GOAT but Bluecoats is very close- both were overwhelming emotional experiences. It's a wonderful thing that a corps placement at finals has no bearing on how much they are loved.

Lancer's rifeline👍👍 Cabs for showmanship. Madison for everything.🎉 Kingsman for precision.
opening was Danny Boy, and... some Holst piece, no?
Nobody talked about the 07 Kingsmen Alumni Corps. I was on the field that night. What gives.
7:39. that's the life, baby.
10:36 WHERE IS THIS SONG FROM I recognise it from Carolina crown 2016 relentless but it’s the star of Indiana? I’m so curious I wanna see the show it’s from
Medea’s dance of vengeance
Star of Indiana - 1993 (it’s the closer)
btw yall forgot SCV alumni 02
On one hand, I'm bummed 07 BD/SCV wasn't there (of course, our last show was Stanford).
On the other....we had no battery, did a park & bark only, and were not allowed to play by ourselves...the 07 A corps brass had to be included.
Sadly, a true BD alum corps will never happen so long as current BD admin is in place.
Annnnd....why do you hate The North Star?
i dont get DCA alumni corps. i mean you could just go back to the DCA group
True but also you gotta admit Cabs were fire
Very few DCA alumni would be able to keep up with modern shows so, that's the reason for the alumni groups
*Were the cavs playing bugles?
*That’s the Madison that I remember 😊
*My bias will always show with SCV ❤
Just drum corps at its best. Blowing notes, not theatrical prop dependent.
