    TRANSCRIPT:
"Logistics facilities, e-commerce teams and retailers are under more pressure than ever to deliver the right products to customers on time. Improving traceability and efficiency, especially before packages leave the building, lets facilities get those items out the door with less error and fewer unnecessary costs. After packages have been sorted, they're then separated by type. Edge learning-based vision systems then verify that each package type goes down the right belt and there are no items getting stuck and causing equipment jams.
While large items are sent towards the dock door, smaller items are transferred into gaylords. 3D dimensioning systems check the volume and fill level of the gaylord to ensure it's not overflowing or underutilized.
To optimize shipping, facilities must measure item sizes and compare costs against expectations. 3D Dimensions systems measure the dimensions and volume of each package for accurate shipping estimates. At the same time, they capture a 2D image of each package as proof of shipment in the case of damage or missing claims. 3D dimension systems also allow facilities to sort packages by size and type for optimal loading onto trucks.
Another way to increase efficiency is by pallet sizing outbound shipments, which involves scanning each item's barcodes before it's placed onto a pallet. Hands free overhead scanning allows operators to read packages at a wide range of heights and angles for faster and more ergonomic handling. Tracking every package that goes out the door and achieving zero loss of goods is crucial to any logistics operation. Image-based barcode readers use powerful algorithms to read damaged or distorted barcodes, making sure every code is read.
For high volume operations, Modular Vision Tunnels fully automate barcode reading on all sides of packages. Modular Vision Tunnels are easy to set up, deploy, maintain and operate drastically reducing downtime due to lane closures.
Gain additional insight into facility performance with real time analytics using Cognex Edge Intelligence software. Track read rates, analyze no-reads and manage data to maximize operational intelligence for your facility.
