  • After a gorgeous wedding yesterday in Chattanooga, we made it back home to some beautiful weather and a laundry list of to do items around the house. Had a great conversation last night with the father of the bride, a fellow California transplant, and we talked about the move and what it has been like since leaving California and moving to Tennessee.
Thank you for watching and subscribing. We appreciate every one of y'all watching and hope watching Californians get settled in Tennessee is semi-entertaining.

Yes, Fred it’s a southern thing to be nice and polite and respectful alive or death. When you are behind a funeral session do not try to go pass it and on coming traffic better stop or pull over if you can it just shows respect for the dead and their last ride. It’s a southern thing.

Seeing a new vlog from you just makes my day!
Yes, I totally agree, you HAVE to see TN for yourself. We were 95% sold on moving to TN before we got the chance to actually visit. We toured around the majority of the state. Arrived in Nashville, drove down to Chattanooga, up to Oak Ridge/Knoxville, over to Cookeville and back to Nashville. I will say, it was the most beautiful 500+ mile drive we have taken! One doesn't realize how much concrete CA has, until you drive the beautiful, green, tree filled, lake/river filled state of TN. Each city we stopped in had its own character and charm. Upon leaving, I left a bit of my heart in TN and we KNEW we were coming back and going to make TN our home. We are still in the planning process, but will make our move by September 2021!
Also, I cannot believe how many people immediate JUDGE people from CA. We are all NOT the crazies that live here and ruined our state. Thus why were are escaping. We don't want to be part of the every day crumble of CA anymore. We want to be free.

Both sides are judgemental. Which is why I’m independent. I like little bits from both sides. Example: low taxes, private property rights, small business rights, family values, gun rights but also gay marriage, legal marijuana, and every American citizen should at least have free basic health care. If u want to pay for more coverage privately u should be able too. So, I don’t fit in either party.

"Don't CA my TN" is a real thing, don't dismiss it. Here in NH, I see plenty of MA plates who preach and vote for taxes, taxes, taxes only to do all of their shopping in tax-free Nashua. Shameless. They then eventually move from their million dollar homes in MA to similar sized homes southern NH at a third of the price, raising all of the land prices through the roof and voting for the policies they fled from. People rightfully resent transplants moving from failed states, that bring failed policy with them.

Even my dad went out to Anaheim,CA area in the late 1950's after he got out of high school to live with his Huffine cousins. He joined the army as a MP in the very early 1960 to 1964 time frame. He told me that he moved back to northeast tennessee in the tri cities area in Johnson city because everything was more expensive out there in California.
Lots of military folks who get statined in San Diego in the navy and marine s have big bases at pendleton and twenty nine palms so when people finished up their service time they stayed out there living. They eventually decided to move back east to live bear their relatives.
Heck after having lived the past 32 years in Richmond, va I'm akso getting sick of how the liberal politicians and governors of our state are running things. Every year they find ways to increase out state taxes, taxes on food sales taxes on restaurants, taxes on gasoline and other commodities and they keep increasing our personal property taxes So hopefully in the next year or two I will be able to transfer back with ny employer to work at our estes express lines terminal located in greenville,tn so that i will be close by to take care of my elderly father who still lives just 8 miles west of kingsoort,tn.

Looking forward to living in a state that appreciates the liberties enshrined in the Constitution. Closing on the house in late September and hoping to move in full time by March of 2022. Two years ago I took three weeks to drive around the entire state. You literally can have anything you desire in TN. Big City..Check, Rural Towns...check, Lake property...check, Large acreage... check and yet you are still relatively close enough to anything. And best of all, it is still relatively affordable. Chattanooga is my hometown, I now live outside of Chatt in a smaller town. But I still love Chatt. It has a lot to offer in my opinion. Outdoorsy, community activities, friendliness, and it's a city full of history, Civil war and Indian removal. Of course the more people discover it the more it's likely to change, but trust me as a native Chattanoogan , there is still a lot of red in that area. I dont mind people moving in from other areas, and I'm not one to tell others how to live or vote, that's a personal choice, but I do ask that if you choose Chattanooga take some time and learn the history of that city and you will be amazed at the resourcefulness what a small town like Chatt can achieve. It puts into perspective how Community planning and a pro community government can improve the lives of its citizens.

CRIME! 8. Cost of living. 9. ETC. We are looking to find more like minded people with manners and respect for others. You just don't get that in Los Angeles. i hope that we are welcomed without judgement. ( fingers crossed ) We are not all crazy out here. There is a strong reason why we are leaving our home of 47 years. It's time for a new and more positive chapeter in our lives and i believe that we will find what we are looking for in TN. Cheers, Shawn.

I think you do your viewers a service because you are so pro TN. We love it and we are transplants too. However, TN has 3 distinct cultures(West TN, Middle TN, East TN). You should not move to East TN unless you have a job or a skill. It is not "corporate" and there is not a "safety" net such as welfare programs. We have a huge homeless population and there are FAMILIES that live under bridges. You must have a job or have a skill. Also, saving is key. There is poverty in the area...30% of the population is below the poverty line. Poverty in TN is way different than poverty in other states. Do not quit your job in another city, move and expect to find a job in the area. That rarely happens. The salaries are much lower, so keep that in mind. When I say lower, an 80k job up north will pay 35k-45k in East TN. Many transplants make that mistake and then they have to move back, to Atlanta or NC for employment. Second, the culture is different. These are great people. Very good people. However, don't expect them to accept you until you have been living in the area for awhile. The reason why we have all these lakes in the area is because of TVA and many people in this area had family land taken from them 10cents on the dollar and they do not forget. Many outsiders in the past 100 years have taken advantage of these people. But, once you are a Tennessean, these people will do anything for you. This place was pretty much still wilderness until the I75/I40 corridor was built. The Smokey Mountains is their pride and joy. Many people volunteer to keep these mountains clean. It is very sad when outsiders come in and trash it. When I first moved to the area years ago, I never gave it much thought but the locals that keep the national park clean have been doing it for decades and are not that well off. There is not an income tax, so some luxuries you maybe use to just do not exist in this state. We do not have police officers at every corner because we do not have the tax base, etc. So if you are a person that depends on the govt to solve problems, this is not the place for you. The people here work together and solve problems among themselves. If you are a person that runs to the court house and file lawsuits like many people do in the Northern states, that does not work in this state. They pull the jury from the back hills of TN. These people are poor and still very grateful, they will never side with you because they will not be able to relate to you. They do not tolerate criminals. That was one thing that I noticed when I first moved to the area, if you steal a pack of gum they will want to hang you. If you are democrat or tend to support democrat policies, you will lose...so do not even attempt to move to the area. Also, the college kids have manners in the area. One of the things I have noticed is the manners that these kids have in this area compared to other cities. Now when I go hiking in the mountains, I can tell the difference from a local and a visitor. A native TN will usually be very friendly and say hello and start a polite conversation, a visitor will just pass you quickly. When I first moved to the area, on social media some young woman posted on a local Knoxville site, she said she was starving and had no food. She posted a picture of her empty kitchen cabinets. The response she received was so very kind. So many people offered to help her, no judgement. They offered to meet her at the grocery or drop off some food. In other states, they would have been brutal to her and telling her to get a job, etc. This is not a place for TAKERS, so if you are looking at how you benefit from the area, what you can take without giving back, this is not the place for you. I can tell you almost every person I know gives back to this community; whether it is picking up trash Saturday mornings at 8 am, or fostering animals, or helping the homeless, or volunteering at the local schools. This is a small town and everyone knows everyone so reputation counts. I love it here but it is not all rainbows and butterflies. I would not live any place else. But there is good and bad in this area just like every other place. However, people make a lot of sacrifices to stay in this area.

Let your viewers know most Tennessee residents are well-armed and won't tolerate the criminals. Also, why do you keep pushing Maryville? Why dont you promote where you live, in Friendsville, if you love where you live so much??? You should post your address so when the crowds show up, they can just camp on your land.

It's cute that you think I have influence on "crowds" moving to Tennessee. News flash, its happening regardless of my channel 🤣 If you go back through my videos, through the 187 days of daily videos perhaps, you would find I often ask my subscribers and viewers what they would like to see and it is overwhelming Maryville. Not sure where i "push" Maryville in all my videos but 🤷‍♂️I have covered Knoxville, I have covered Friendsville....people email me, message me on Instagram, many have my address and I have met up with them. I try as best to educate all those "criminals" from other states and explain that it's not for everyone. So again, if you knew even the slightest thing about the family, you would know we have property in Friendsville, Maryville, and more. One day I'll cover Kentucky as well. This is exactly why I make these videos, to expose everything, as you have shown, that it's not all Southern Hospitality 🤣🤣 But thanks for taking time out of your day to worry about what I'm doing, appreciate the thoughtful words ✌🏻

hi I'm planning to move to Tennessee from Illinois. Please could you recommend some safe cities or towns with affordable rent and a lot of job opportunities, for a female?. I heard what you said in this video , but your feedback would greatly help. I'm researching online, all I can.. but it's so foreign to me and not sure what's accurate online. any feedback about towns and cities for a female looking for work would be so appreciated. Thank you kindly,
    Carrie

@@Hoagmatthew Thank you, we are only a couple of months away from making the move, so I want to be prepared.
Question,, where do you go if you hear bad news ? Do you have a storm shelter, or a basement ? We were getting ready to leave for Cookeville last March, and then the Tornados hit, devastating to see the results
      Thanks' again..

Hey just found your channel. Welcome to east Tennessee. Fellow Black Rifle Coffee drinker here . So the issue of saying Murville versus Maryville is silly. I was raised in Maryville and never called it Murville. I don't know anyone who calls it Murville. If anything we pronounce it Maryvulle. Again welcome to Tennessee, pronounce it how you want.....we live in the land of the free.

I definitely have not given Chattanooga a full chance and checked it out. I need to spend some more time down there to really get a feel for the area besides a few quick stops. If you search "Ashley Kaye" on CZcams, she is a friend that lives that way and covers a lot of local Chattanooga

Oh man...you are spot on.. but its about 100x worse in Idaho! They HATE anyone from CA!!! I had a neighbor recognize me and jump out of his truck and confront me screaming about how I was spreading Idaho all over the world and how that was interfering with him raising his daughters.... LOL... As if I was the first CZcamsr to ever do so. Cussing and swearing at me... I was truly shocked this guy had the testicular fortitude to run up on a perfect stranger in a 2nd Amendment state screaming and yelling all angry.... How the hell did he know I wasn't a psycho Californian that would just react like all the gangsters you see on tv....
