Why would they be able to seize the website though (referring to your comment about how they haven't gotten around to doing it yet)? Under what grounds? It's a messaging app, irregardless of its claims. This would be like them taking down signal because criminals use it or something like that.

@@dietrichdietrich7763 I don't agree with that conclusion though. You can't seize an app because you believe it has no good purpose to public use. Thats a subjective conclusion. If I make an end-to-end encryption messaging app right now and gets used mostly by people committing crimes (because the average person is just gonna download Telegram or signal because its popular), I would be subject to the same treatment despite having the exact same functionality as the more popular apps.
Also how do you know its bogus? They could have easily found a loophole or entry point to listen in on the data but the app was legitimately designed to encrypt data. This happens with major services all the time and has a higher likelyhood of affecting a smaller developer.
Irregardless of whether or not it encrypted messages, they didn't take it down because of that and thats my main issue. It wasn't about false advertising or anything like that. They took it down because the found criminals using it.
@@AnesuC listen bro, I love the explanation, it's beautifully written so you got good agreement points especially from a developer's POV but my disagreement is this, about this product app because if it doesn't work then it's a P.O.S. that needs refixed or trashed since that just not going to supplement very well for public supply.

because it's made and advertised for criminals, if the developers of the app are aware and actively selling to criminals then they too, are criminals. This is blatantly illegal to do and it's definitely grounds for seizure. Just look at the history of such messaging apps/encrypted phones, even ones that were a lot more subtle about their criminal target audience end up getting arrested and shut down because they can't hide their intentions for long. Signal is different because it's basically just whatsapp without being owned by meta, every type of person uses it and they don't encourage or advertise criminal behaviour
I can see why they would try to sell it first, because if no one is going to buy it, why would it get that much attention when it is free to the public? Apart from identity theft, what use is a List of people/address ? When they don't even know who in the list was in the contest, Let alone who the winners are & there for who to target. There for if it was done as a reaction to the contest they may have failed to pinpoint the people they where trying to target. So they wanted more use for the list.
So much for END TO END encryption.

Sumsub are paying for advertising as they have noticed their viewership has fallen off a cliff. They saw their subscriber count soar after they first advertised and figured a new advert would help.
If they just improved their content and created content in a similar fashion to when they first started then they would probably be just fine.
Some criminal organizations make millions if not billions annually so why don't they just pay some of their younger members to go to a big college and learn about tech or pay a smart tech guy to teach them how to learn about tech...

Why are these criminals stupid?! They made 10/20 million in a couple of years from their chat app, they obviously don't care what will happen to their users.
They grabbed the servers for an ' encrypted chat ' service. How hard is it for anyone with some Tech experience to get the ' keys to the encryption keys ' since everyone knows there are no random numbers on a PC?? I am betting on it in a plain text file that was not encrypted hidden in an ' Admin ' folder like it showed to do on Git.
Without side channel of some kind that requires local access beforehand or physical access it's incredibly difficult to break modern encryption.
