Are you guys in contact with the guy who found the beta of Hotel Mario? I hope we see that dumped!
I need T'ai Fu in my veins! lol Seriously this is amazing, I really want to see more footage or the dump of this! I wonder if it's the build sent to magazines where he has ligher blue pants and the HUD had this huge health bar. What you've shown so far is totally different from the final game, all the screens and the map itself are different (that loading screen is so much cooler than the final one, what the heck??) Also noticed some unknown locations on that map like "Rabbit village"?? No such thing in the final, there aren't even any rabbits! So this would definitely be interesting to see you cover it!
We are not, but keeping our ear to the ground for updates.
@@neonthunder3261
Personally, I'd love to see hear if there are any differences in the Brigandine, Legacy of Kain, and Rayman builds. I imagine Brigandine is just localization due to it being a Japanese RPG and being a large game, so you don't have to look too deep.
@@hard4games Ooh, gl!
Like a good dump.
Always good to be regular
Glasses guy says “we have a dearth of games” and later the other guy says “girth of games”. ‘Dearth’ means a lack of, both of these are wrong.
Whoopsie doodles
@@hard4games Thanks, other guy.
Well shit, you are correct.
It was just long enough between shooting this and it being posted that I forgot I even made that plane joke. I hit myself out of left field with it.
It is always good to dump pre-release games, no matter how obscure or weird or unremarkable a game is. No matter what the game is, there is always a chance there are people who would be interested in seeing prototypes for the game. I myself love to see prototypes for random 2000s Disney tie in games, there’s always a potential audience for prototypes for anything. Great work from you guys.
EXACTLY! Every game, good or bad, exciting or boring, deserves to be preserved for anyone to enjoy.
Sure would enjoy a video about dumping games with the Wii U development kit. These are the kind of videos that are for a small but important audience that makes for more future content.
the Red disc is for your retail Sega Saturn to run burned discs of only 1st Party SEGA games, while the KD02 (Black Disc) runs only 3rd Party made games, and the KD00 (Blue Disc) can do both!
So that way you don't need to own a Saturn dev kit to run 'em.
Also there is a PC app that can patch 3rd party games to become "1st party" games and vise versa with the black one.
Imagine a Net Yaroze Decomp project to make some kind of modern GB Studio-like PS1 development environment.
also, while these dumps may seem minor I truly appreciate people out there like you guys preserving game history, no matter how big or little!
I'd prefer if something entirely new was made
And tbh, I've never seen anything impressive coming out from GB Studio and I don't like the fact it's only compatible with HUGEtracker
Actually i think quite a few people would have been interested in the Mario and Sonic video; those games have a larger then you think fan base. But honestly YT would screw it in the algorithm, so i get it.
Are any of these Saturn builds available online? Especially interested in the Rally build. :)
Will be soon
@@hard4gamesGreat to hear!! Thanks for all that you do.
I’m taking a dump while watching a video about dumping disks.
Just don't Upload, you'll get Disk Rot 😆
So am I, poop buddies yay
Oh wow, lotta cool stuff in this one.
Need to see more of that Tai Fu build, thought I'd seen everything from it!
8:44 - The person who burned that disc did a good thing by writing on the center ring instead of the actual disc label. Sharpie and other similar markers will eventually chew through the disc, damaging the burned data below the written portion. I have a lot of older cd-rs that were ruined because I wrote their contents with a sharpie. The same can happen to cd-rs that have paper labels stuck to them (the glue can come undone and take some of the backing with it.)
It's SUPER important to back up all of these discs now. These are all over 20 years old, and even if the brands claimed they were meant to last a long time... no one expected them to last 20 years.
That's a pretty sizable dump taken.
I would agree that disc of Brigandine is an actual official burned disc. I used to work freelance as a reviwer and walkthrough writer during the PS1 era in the UK. I have many discs like that from the devs which just have simple text written by disc marker with limited info like that. Very common indeed.
Could you dump and leak please?
@@Lexterizando I don't think that's going to happen.
@@crunchyfrog555 Why? You said you own these games
@@Lexterizando I do, but I don't own the copyright so I have no legal right to distribute them. I will give them to some organization or something when I die though.
@@crunchyfrog555 If that's the case, the guy who leaked Dinosaur Planet should have been arrested then.
The Sega Saturn is really good, totally underrated and over-looked
It dosen't have alot of games in the west because of how hard it was to develop for it and Dreamcast relesed 4 years after it. So if you own Saturn you will probably play mostly fan translations or imports
Too bad it was one of the weakest of its generation
Atleast it ain't as bad as 3DO or Atari Jaguar
Dump all of them, i am sure Hidden Palace would love all copies of those 30 Discs.
Can’t believe you guys haven’t hit 100k! It’s criminal! You guys cover some of the coolest stuff in gaming; all of the documentation you guys do is a lot for preservation
Brigandine and Tai Fu definitely deserve their own videos
This Tai Fu build is DEFINITELY much earlier than the final build or even the beta one we found a few years ago, so this truly needs its own video
Did those WiiU versions of Mario and Sonic dumps end up anywhere? Cause im surely interested in taking a looking. I also own a WiiU Dev kit, and love to mess around with anything WiiU :D
Yes they will be released via CodeBound
@@hard4games Good to hear! Thanks for preserving history as always :D
I hope you guys can find Twelve Tales Conker 64, and leak it later this year.
also kameo gc build
This is super rad nice to see you guys still making content
GS/PAR ROM Flasher is probably what we use to turn a GameShark/Pro Action Relay into a PseudoSaturn or whatever the PSone equivalent was for booting backups. ;)
EZ-O-Ray and caetla
I QA tested the original Mario & Sonic @ the Olympic games at Sega Europe HQ back in the day on the night shift. Free pizza.
Cool
I really like the variety of games you covered in this video!
i'd be interested in sega rally (music differences intrigue me) and the mario and sonic game (i played one of the ds ones, and remember liking it).
Always nice to see Net Yaroze stuff, it was a really cool little scene and I fondly remember a lot of the games that came out of it. Still got old UK Demo 42 around somewhere, the Yaroza compilation disc, one of the collection pieces I'm proudest of lol.
You guys ever get sonic r beta? The one with the super sonic racing song sang by another singer?
I think you should do more videos like this where you go into minute differences in builds that are overall uninteresting but becomes interesting when you rapid-fire a bunch of these types of tidbits
Dude! It's the guy from DidYouKnowGaming!
Oh hi! 😊
Interesting video. I think tutorials about good practice dumping would be very interesting ! How to do it correctly ? How to check the dump files ? Etc
Thanks for dumping and preserving those games, no matter how unremarkable they are, they are still videogame history
Legacy of Kain! we need to see more of that dump!
I wound to corssover videos Adam Koralik since his Dreamcast Dev kits cound help with with the dumping. I wound also love an corssover video with The Gaming Historian since this cound fix some holes in his videos for exepull The Dreamcast's Mil-CD Loop Hole was part of Bleem's story.
Hey i think updates like this one showing a summary of what ye've been dumping is quite good
Out of curiosity, what software would you use to burn the Sega Saturn ISO's back to a CD?
I always used image burn as long as the image is patched prior to
@Hard4Games That copy of Legacy of Kain must be the first version that had the extra levels and puzzles that was stripped from the retail final version. Very rare
Do you have a dump link to that Legacy of Kain ps1 disk?
Fantastic guys!! Keep it up.
The youtube algorithm must be off or something, I mostly see your new videos on facebook.
Love these videos and what you guys do!
I'd like to see that Sega Rally with the different soundtrack
Video on Brigandine could be interesting, could make it into a review or something if the dump itself doesn't turn out to have any visible differences.
Bless your hearts, the Saturn and Dreamcast are beyond incredible and the only consoles i need.
I found a prototype for a game known as "Quickesy" it is a game about the character from the Kitsy Cat cartoons.
Where will you be uploading these? Thanks!
some interesting bits here. I remember reading about the net yaroze in game mags and kinda wanting one! I remember playstation underground occasionally had yaroze-made demos, I specifically remember 'cool beans'? was like a puzzle game like columns or something.
How do John and Tony somehow look younger in these newer videos than in the videos you guys made over a decade ago?
I would love for ya video going into that Saturn disc that allows you to boot dev discs on retail ! Also PLEASE make a video on the Mario and Sonic Wii U Discs !
Score! I found yet another treasure of a channel!!!!! Liked and subbed. The youtube gaming community is so rad.
A video about the Sony devkit would be cool if yall ever get your hands on one.
Look, that review copy of Tennis '99 for PS1 is a *very important* part of video gaming history.
12:46 wow, so that's why there's so many weird and experimental Japanese PS1 games 😮 *thinks back to that Civilization-like game called 'Egg'*.
would be very interested in a video showing off the mario & sonic builds!
When you talked about dumping Wii U, i felt that because i somehow knew that there wouldn't be enough instructions for beta stuff there, i knew how to dump retail and the thing was easy, and it was THE instruction, and THE software, and a few discussions, the community is small. I remember searching about the Wii U Gamepad unused port and found an answer with a demonstration, but then i couldn't find it again.
I'm hard for dumping. Wait...
420bonglord would be the email of someone at Id or Blizzard way back! 😂 Very nice of this Mr to let you guys dump these discs! I wonder if he has more.
Yeaah, i used to mod wiis for my friends and you arent kidding. The wii and wii u homebrew methods, while easy and great, seem to work based on their personal mood atm lol. Never did figure out why some were easy and some just refused until they...didnt? haha, funny to hear about it tho again after all these years.
Could we have a look at Blood Omen? I'd love to see it compared with the retail version if there are any visible differences.
Hello
So, i hear thst you guys are preserving the games and such. That's awesome! Being unfamiliar with your channel, im curious as to what method standards and equipment you are using for your dumps.
As a saturn dumper/preservationist/enthusiast, i want to see all things saturn. Im also a old school era PlayStation 1 "scene" fan who remembers the action replay/GameShark hacks and probably still has some of those tools and software around in some archives. XiaNaiX forums for the win.
I remember playing net yaroze on demo discs. The games were limited as they had to fit on the console ram.
Great video! I actually have a Wii U development disc with some text stamped onto it that I obtained working my job at a local video game store! Is there a way to possibly determine its contents aside from loading into a Wii U dev kit reader? If not, what's the best way to go about lending it to you for dumping and preservation purposes?
Hi! Best way to get ahold of is is via email. Hard4Games@gmail.com
I command you to dump the Sonic 1 Tokyo Toy Show prototype. Use your power of the bully pulpit as youtube behemoths with nearly 100k subscribers to force Sega to come to the table and play ball.
we need earthbound 64 before any sega turd
@aaronkosharskyswhiteknight5224 that too. Hard4games are going soft, they need to use mob tactics to strong arm these companies.
@@aaronkosharskyswhiteknight5224I would like to see earthbound GameCube tough
@@jimstone8842 id take 1 earthbound 64 before i accepted every single undumped unreleased segaanything game collection.
Very cool thanks 💎💪🏽😉
Finally john is back!!
Give the Red disc a case of it's own and dump it
Did nintendo make recordable discs with round edges for Wii U or was that just for retail?
Ahhh leprechaun! Want to see the goosebumps house lol Steve's a to z is the grocery store in leprechaun, in cottonwood CA hahaha
Very cool thx
Downside to Net Yazoze: The game has to fit into RAM. Devil Dice was a retail game that started as a Yazoze game
Is a review copy of Tennis 99 for ps1 worth a review? YES!
ネットやろうぜ or Net Yarou ze, basically means "Won't you Net?"
It seems like it has many meanings, but it was an original PlayStation 1 Dev Kit.
Keep the faith. Don't let the critics define you!👍
Hi, do you preserve these online? Or are they inaccessible?
The owner releases via codebound
first.. always excited for your vids! edit: i feel like the people who follow you would are totally into smaller lesser known games..it doesnt have to be mario or zelda
I'm gonna decompress in space ahhhh I'm upside down! I guess this is my life now🙃
that dirty moustache is not giving good vibes
I can confirm there are mega nerds like me who would love to learn about every single game you dump.
Hope those are new cds guys preservationist just said to start burning new copys
Will you guys dump those prototypes on the hidden palace? I'm a guy who likes to test them
They're gonna be released via CodeBound. But we love hidden palace too! If you're connected with them, feel free to upload there too. 😉
I've dumped 950 games, and I'm not finished. 30 is nothing.
I am very interned in Tai fu, once dumped where are going to upload it to?
i want to find dragons heaven and eternal chain and buy it
I've been searching for 3 years, and i know that a ROM is out there because there were screenshots for magazines
Dearth = too few, lacking in number
Absolutely correct. Fail John
Special John Appearance
I want Sega rally and the boot disc dumped
Find X-Men vs street fighter for Sega Genesis
Can you dump the use of the word "dump"? I nominate "preserve" as a suitable synonym that doesn't sound gross.
Preserve my dumps.
Oh man, I am taking a dump right now. I also love dumping. Nothing better than a big ol' dump for preservation's sake.
Yes!
Guys just hang out and I'll watch it
Net yaroze is dope and gspar flasher yes my friend
John you should dump that moustache, yikes
This comment is yikes.
@@DasAntiNaziBroetchen Antinazi= nazi
Any Capcom ps one dumps
i like this stuff i hope one day theres going be a copy of snoop doggs game fear & respect that it will hit the net
Big steamy dump for us all
Better not take his red Swingline...
Jk guys. Thanks for the dumps
Was rayman final?
Sega rally if there is any difference it would help with homebrew development and hacking.
In the UK, Official PlayStation Magazine would publish Net Yaroze made games on it's demo discs each month.
hey you guys still drinkin
Nice a new video with John and Tony I love dumping games videos very interesting
My bd writer reads anything I have thrown at it but not tried anything Nintendo or Sega so far. It reads ps3 games even though it's not on the list of drives and it has official uhd support as well, so could it read PS5 games let's try today.
