I had the cowboys and Indians set. My lionel trains would derail when I put the figures on the track. Pop was a navy vet. Uncles were marines and army. Great men back then. Loved hearing them banter about the rivalries. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Glad you liked the video. I also had a cowboy ranch set and a knight and castle playset. Marx made such great toys back then, but the army set was my favorite! Thanks for watching!
Nice set. I played with Tim new/processed plastic soldiers as a child. I later discovered eBay and added to my collection. I had a friend in college that collected military figures. We used to have battles with about 4 people. Good memories.
Same here! We had great times, you could buy surplus helmet liners at the army surplus store for less than a dollar and wear them while enacting miniature wars.
How the times changed wearing a tie for Christmas I was ten months old as you were playing with your Marx play set in 1954 but I remember my 1963 Christmas getting a Marx battleground set in a Sears/Allstate wrap around box. Mine also got lost over the years in moves to our first house after living in military housing for years.
I'm happy that this video brought back some good memories for you. I was 9 years old when I received it, and it was my favorite toy at the time. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for the info! I actually have several of the boxes for the Army version, there were a lot of those sold because they were less expensive.
Thanks for watching! I just subscribed to your channel, it looks really interesting. Growing up, we had so many Marx toys. They just about all disappeared over the years. I do have lots of photos. My Dad was an amateur photographer and took photos of our gifts at Christmas and birthdays.
@greatesttoysevermade3693 I belong to the Train Collectors Association, I submitted a bunch of those photos to their quarterly magazine and none were ever used, so I guess you never know. Anyway,, I do appreciate your kind comments.
Great set!

John one of these just popped up on Madison Wisconsin Craigslist in Hales Corners. It’s the Army version with a box. There willing to send out.

Nice early set!
