    I've had the same tablet for over 3 years by now and use it daily, sometimes up to 5-6 hours or more to draw and do school work. Never had a single problem with it. It's still going strong even though it's a few years old. Love this thing

      Me too, but I:
      Lost the pen,
      Stay on it longer on weekends because school,
      kinda abuse it with the amount of rages I have,
      Cracked it, and
      About to replace it (maybe??)

    Great job on repairing that Galaxy Tab S4 Hugh! It's always fascinating to see the insides of these devices. I agree with your decision to replace the whole screen assembly with the frame. It's a smart move to avoid dealing with glass shrapnel

  • @kbhasi
    @kbhasi Před 7 měsíci +33

    I find this awesome to see as I actually use a Galaxy Tab S4 as my primary tablet! I was able to get a great deal on it as it was listed for parts because it basically has a dead camera ISP, so both cameras don't work. Other than that, it's the highest-end configuration Samsung offered for it, that being mobile network support and 256 GB internal storage, plus it's in black like the one in the video!

    • @Connie_TinuityError
      @Connie_TinuityError Před 7 měsíci

      Did you ever get the cameras repaired or no?

    • @kbhasi
      @kbhasi Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@Connie_TinuityError
      No, as I could tell that it's an internal issue that can't easily be fixed. Not important for my use cases, though, as I could take photos on my phone and embed those into documents there, then sync them over.
      The Samsung iris scanner still works, but just fails to load the camera preview which was just used for alignment and not actual scanning. It does sometimes fail and require me to restart my tablet, but I did set a passcode I can remember, plus Android biometrics require the passcode to be re-entered on start-up and after a certain number of unlocks.

    Nice straightforward repair Hugh! It seems very sensible to order the new screen with frame - particularly when the frame appears to already have all the adhesive patches ready for reassembly! Excellent job as usual mate 👍👍😊

    This was a really nice video to watch, and given that this is the tablet that I have as my main tablet device, it is reassuring to know that it is easy to repair once the rear cover is off.
    I also have my keyboard and S-Pen, both of which are still holding up well.
    Btw - mine is the Wi-Fi only version. I wonder if it is possible to add the SIM Reader, SIM card tray, and antennae, to upgrade a Wi-Fi only device to a 4G compatible device?

    The rubberised plastic back on my Galaxy S5 became incredibly sticky and horrible after a few years of sitting in a drawer. Took two applications but afterwards the stickiness was completely gone.

    This is another example of it not being needed to glue in a battery. My favourite example is the 2016 ish era Macs. Thinner and cheaper Air had a screwed in and with a plastic frame to hold it together. The battery easy to replace with simple tools, the pro was glued in and was all floppy and in different parts. No excuse for this at all.

    Watching from Tab S4

  • @OledBurnInKing
    @OledBurnInKing Před 7 měsíci

    I used to have the tab s4 lte version and it was samsung last flagship tablet with a headphone jack before they removed the headphone jack on there newer flagship tablets and phones. The tab s4 can do samsung dex whereas the z fold 4 samsung dex requires an external display to use samsung dex. I don't know why samsung removed the option to use samsung dex from the z fold 4 inner display without requiring an external display. I tried to activate samsung dex from the z fold 4 but in the settings it requires an external display. The z fold 4 is capable of using samsung dex from the z fold 4 inner display but for some odd reason samsung limited it and made it a requirement to have an external display. Using the z fold 4 inner display would have been useful and convenient when there is no access to an external display like being on an airplane or if someone does not own an external display. I used samsung dex on the galaxy note 9 when I used to own the galaxy note 9 without requiring an external display. The note 9 and the z fold 4 are samsung phones with the exception of the z fold 4 being a tablet that folds and fits in your pocket. The older samsung devices did not limit the features and functionality compared to the newer samsung battery devices. For example, what if I wanna use samsung dex on the z fold 4 and I don't have access to an external display. Unless, I buy a 28 inch external display and carry it with me and it's not practical. It would be more an inconvenience because I would have to carry an external display and I would have to make sure that the external display is compatible with samsung dex and carry it on an airplane.

    I dropped mine years ago, on the corner straight onto carpet....the entire back is just shattered. I covered it with electrical tape.

    To be honest a screen like this should be refurbished by using a glass only repair taking the old glass off and laminating a new sheet of glass to the original display. A sheet of glass costs £10 a sheet of oca costs about £2-3 so for under £15 you could get a new screen!!!! I know these screens cost someone in the trade £140 ish so more than what the device is worth used!! Amoled screens are silly expensive so doing glass only makes you lots of money yes it takes a bit longer but definitely worth it 😉
