The tobacco industry has traditionally been in the south, however, as an experiment, I have grown several varities in west Michigan and it does fantastic. The plants are beautiful, large and finish with developed viable seeds.

I pulled Tobacco on farms around Danville in the early and mid 70s,we did it the old fashioned way then, long hot days that started before Sunrise and ended with your hands and hair full of Tobacco gum...all for 5 to 10 dollars a day,and sometimes 20 dollars a day for a big grower.

Whether you like and/or partake of tobacco (I do), you have to acknowledge that the tobacco growing in the U.S. was a HUGE part of our heritage and culture. It's sad to me to see it diminishing.

We agree and are so happy that Larry Barts was able to share part of that history with us.
