- Part 2 of 4 in a series I made about the contemporary art market with artsy.net and UBS. Gallerists and art-world influencers provide their insights on how an artist's market is developed and protected. Produced in collaboration with artsy.net and UBS. Edited by Nate DeYoung. The Art Market (in Four Parts) series is owned by Art.sy, Inc. For licensing of these films, please contact legal@artsy.net.
Galleries is the second installment of a four-part documentary series, preceded by Auctions and followed by Patrons and Art Fairs, released weekly through mid-June. Together, the four segments tell a comprehensive story about the art market’s history and cultural influence.
god DAMN the editing on these videos is PHENOMENAL
Yeah. Good voice over as well. Loved the narrative
Agree
This series is extremely interesting and informative. Well told too.
+The Lawn Care Nut thanks man, I dig your channel. I don't have a lawn anymore but I worked landscaping and grounds crews for 4 years. Great encyclopedia of tips you're building!
When world's collide. Two great people I never saw a link between.
Oscar has such a good documentary narrator voice.
This series is utterly brilliant.
Somehow this is better than the last one. Love these videos so far

Great work once again Oscar! I love your editing and topic choice!
I've watched this series over and over again, I truly love art, and appreciate every shot and angle and time you used to make this, I live right outside NYC, hopefully could meet you one day- London
Such a nice pace in these videos. Love it.
TOO FAST.
can't catch or understand what he's saying sometimes. distractingly fast visuals and long sentences spoken too quickly.
Genuinely love your videos Oscar, can't wait for the rest!
You're editing is so tight and clean. Such an interesting and wonderfully explained series.
Oscar and team: I love this new series you're releasing. Great job. Keep up the good work as always.
There is one important piece of the puzzle missing here: in the early 1980's Citibank, and what was then Manufacturers Hanover Trust Bank in NYC opened what they called the "Private Banking Division" and, for the first time, banks started to recognize collections of art and accept them as collateral for outstanding loans. Thus art and modern art had all of the sudden become BANKABLE. And with this development, the business of art as we know it today took off. Next thing you know, individuals, hedge funds and banks themselves are investing in art portfolios. Which is why USB is paying money to Oscar for creating this rather well-produced youtube clip.
You have an amazing narrative voice and talent, Oscar. Thanks for publishing informative content on CZcams!
Cannot have enough of your videos. Keep up the amazing work!
slow down! i can't catch everything coming at me that fast

"being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art" . I imagine that could be true if we truly love what we do

Fabrizio Caramagna say : "Art is unexpected meeting of shapes and spaces and colors that were previously unaware"
Compliments by an Italian fan for the series.
Great series. You should see some of those politics involved with the art market here in Doha. Insane.
this is truly fascinating!
Fantastic work Oscar!
This is so educating! I've never been a person who cares about collecting, but to get an understanding, I really appreciate these videos! Thanks Oscar!
Love these
Such an interesting series.
look forward to the next one oscar. always wondered how art biz worked. btw your video on the italian actor was a classic. you have the knack of making your vids so unique. is it the vibes of the building you and casey work in that causes it?
loved this one... big hello from NYC...
Thank you for this masterpiece serries Oscar, keep Doing!
I'm not even into art. but the editing and directing of these videos are incredible.
How are you not into art? What does that even mean? Everything we consume in a visual way is art?
I fell like he's over simplifying. He probably means he's not int gallery/collector/big name art, which I would agree with.
This is great!
indeed!!! only the time will tell.
Great work!!
Awesome Job!
Fantastic work Oscar
sick video!!
BRILLIANT
SO GOOD
THIS IS ART. YEAH
that nice little cameo at 2:29
amazing work oscar
I love your channel
Superb
Great content Oscar. This was done really well. I loved it. Do you frequent galleries yourself?
Really interesting 🤗
On Wall Street, these practices would amount to security fraud
Thank you for vlogging.
Does anyone know what camera was Stefan simchowitz was using during the video?
Jay Kala Kranti !!!
Nice job
damn so what if i was an artist how do i get my stuff bought like them ??
A full length documentary feature starring oscar in a louie Theroux stylized way would be amazing.
Damn Oscar. Magnificent
Really crazy how it all seems to boil down to money in the end.
Money is one theme. Social affirmation is another. Remember at 0:50 where the dealer won't sell you a picture but will sell it to a collector who has social ties and connections. Art speculation is similar to market speculation I guess which is connected to how people value and devalue something.
It's not just about money it's about how and why art is worth as much or as little as it is. Van Gogh shouldn't have died broke and hungry.
wow
Brillant
I subscribed, thanks
Remind me of my work
SOUNDS LIKE - Anderson Cooper
Oh Crazy Art 🖼 world
Nooooo! It is already over.
So the Velvet Buzzsaw soundtrack was inspired by this intro?
top film that
holy fuck this is amazing
tempo of the clip is so high.. to very easy to catch all the details and read the texts on screen :(
This is kind of depressing for any artists like me , so hard to find our place today ...
Ya give up. I did!
I am an artist, my name is Fabian, but i live in Tijuana, nobody knows my name nor my art, where can i send pictures of my art? Can anybody help please?
this was exactly the mindset of Michelangelo Buonarroti
What camera are you using
interesting
Joseph Charles Colin Face Painted to canvas Art.....All 3
I would like to see the photo that Stefan Simchowitz took of Oscar.
YEAH OSCAR
3:43 "exceptional quality" LOL 🤭🤣 ok...
Careerism, Elitism, Speculation & Greed
the Emperor always needs those new clothes ~
Basically only sold to 1%ters
and THATS WHY i am a starving artist.
Hate to be that guy but... at 2:13 what kind of camera is that?
Leica?
Seems like it...
It's a Leica M-P 240 Safari special edition.
