At France theres laws banning gambling and csgo case opening considered as gambling so valve changed that to xraying them then buying the case xrays cost around €0.21 case key costs + €2.19 you have to buy the case to open another one but you can just abandon your account or never open cases again

the xray feature is only for countries where gambling is illegal, so csgo made the feature to help them enjoy the unboxing experience without it being classed as gambling.

What is X-ray?
in france, lootbox systems where you don't know what you're gonna get are banned, so valve's workaround to let people still gamble is purchasing an xray to see whats inside a case before opening it. You can only do this in france i believe
@Vultzzzz important note that this makes the case trade locked, and the scanner can't be used again until you open the case you last used it on. Really, it's just spending an extra key to participate in the case opening system by buying the scanner.

@@acsone3546you CANNOT AVOID OPENING BLUES. What ever you use it on you have to open or you cannot use it again so if you saw a blue you have to open the blue before you can scan anything again.

@@void4713 when you use it you must buy it. So then you can just create multiple accounts play a few games to get drops (preferably a case) then use xray and if is not a knife or anything worth value repeat.

No, the scanner is unavailable until you buy the key and open the scanned item. You still open cases, but you know what item you get before you use the key. Nothing different about it.
