    You know what frustrates me the most about game streaming... It would be perfect for so many styles of games. Puzzle games, strategy RPGs, management games like SimCity or City Skylines and I'm sure a whole bunch of others.
    But no, all the advertising and marketing says to play first person shooters and other games that require twitch reflexes.
    It's like the marketing people don't understand the technology and what it's actually good for.
    Oh wait..

    • @DawidDoesTechStuff
      @DawidDoesTechStuff  Před 2 lety +60

      That is a very good point. The game libraries that are supported is really weird. Although I think it has to do with publishers. There was an issue with a lot publishers pulling support for there games right after GeForce experience launched.
      I guess it also has to do with the games that people most want to play.

    • @dhoelath6648
      @dhoelath6648 Před 2 lety +9

      Puzzle games can run on anything that was released within the last decade, strategy aren't usually super demanding either and management games require a semi decent CPU and a graphics card... anything that was released in the last decade or two. They are not the type of games one would have issues running as long as they have an almost kinda recent PC. It's FPS and RPGs that ask the most out of a system and the occasional Simulator so it's expected most people to be looking at cloud gaming for those titles instead of the next Civilization.

      Exactly, if you live in a town or city without an Azure datacenter as an example your latency could be up to 10X higher than living in a city that does, even in the US regardless of how good your internet is.

    • @smittyvanjagermanjenson182
      @smittyvanjagermanjenson182 Před 2 lety +1

      Well thats more like the markets fault, with majority playing mind-numbing amounts of CoD, fortnite, or Apex. They just want players to be interested and advertising the ocean of walking simulators probably doesn't sell the service so well. 🤷

    • @Dono0320
      @Dono0320 Před 2 lety +9

      The input lag is not really due to the input devices but rather with the Chromecast video decoder, it adds ~20ms or ~30ms of lag to decode each frame and that's a lot when trying to play games and things. Ideally you want like ~10ms or less for decoding video. Then you also want to enable game mode on the monitor or tv you are playing on to reduce the decode time further.

    I’ve been playing around with streaming games a fair bit for the last few years (predominantly out of curiosity) using a variety of different set ups and one of the things that’s consistently stood out for me is how wildly different input lag can be across different devices. Using my XBox controller to play GeForce Now and GamePass on my iPad Pro or Pixel has always produced an uncomfortable amount of lag, but when I’m on my Mac there’s barely any which makes single player games a perfectly comfortable experience. Using a wired controller basically seems to eliminate lag so I’m convinced the lag is more an issue with Bluetooth devices than with streaming in general.
    One of the best experiences though, and I’d love for Dawid to try this out, is using a Stadia controller. Yes, you’re stuck playing the limited catalogue on Stadia, but as a proof of concept on how streaming could work it’s seemed pretty much flawless. Of course it’s best on a wired connection, but I’d argue that it even seems to improve wireless connections, I think because the Stadia controller is using Wi-Fi to directly connect to the data centres, so the device isn’t having to pass inputs through the same signal that it’s receiving the game stream over.

    please get one of those wireless hdmi things connect the chromecast to it then run the chrome cast off a usb battery bank use wireless mouse and keyboard so you can kinda just put the chromecast almost anywhere in a room the input latency will be afull though

    For Android Gaming, would there be noticeable input lag?

    Is there a reason why you didn't have local in-home PC game streaming using Steam Link, Moonlight, or Parsec?
    It would've been cool to see the latency and what not.

    Just found out there are powered USB c hubs that you can use with that chrome cast, giving you power and ethernet along usb port for keyboard and mice. Wonder how that would work like

      Wiring the controls for streamed play is way better, but there's still enough latency to make it irritating. Definitely far more tolerable than bluetooth..
