Thank you for your kind donation to support this video Carol!
It’s 1:43 am why is this so satisfying
Ha ha!!! I hope I'm not keeping you up Ismael!
I don't know but I am relaxed now!
Ismael, I’m a night owl too. There are several nights a week I see 1:43 AM as well. Enjoy your stitching
Because you're seeing it come alive! (It's also 1:43 am when I posted this.)
Its 2 : 26 and its still satisfying
You are the Bob Ross of embroidery. So soothing & calm to watch. Love your vids!
I'll take that! 😁👍
❤️❤️❤️ 🖌️ 🎨
Like good ASMR!
Her videos are so informative and I like how she not only shows you the straight line, but then goes over how to use it in practice - without speeding up the video. I also learned the value of the starting stitch and how the “no knotting” method works. And, I appreciate that she doesn’t edit out her mistakes and instead shows us how she corrects them. Her Palestrina stitches are so beautifully done!
Such an enjoyable relaxing video. I appreciate that you first show how to do the stitch in a straight line and then apply it to a letter. Beautiful work.
Thank you Eloise!
This is a wonderful video! I haven't embroidered for 50 years or more and had forgotten even basic stitches. Thank you for showing, in detail, how to do the stitch and then how to use it. I would like to see the back of your finished work, as well. (I suspect that your back is as neat and precise as your front!)
I did a video all about the back of your work recently Mary, so do check that out! We have lots of videos on all the basics as well, including how to start and finish threads, how to use a hoop, backing fabric...all sorts!
You are a lovely teacher, and I love watching your tutorials and listening to your calm voice . Thank you
Thank you for the video, needed the refresher since I haven't done decorative stitching since I was a kid when my grandma taught me.
When I was a kid growing up in the fifties I was sent every Saturday afternoon to the house of an elderly lady to learn embroidery. Whenever I fly anywhere now, I get one of those little embroidery kits to keep my fingers and mind busy during the flight - for some reason, I’ve realised that a needle is one thing security doesn’t mind you taking on board! Now I can practice some letters as well :-)) Thanks for posting!
I was actually wondering if I would be able to take this on a flight! Thank you for your insight :)
Very inspiring. Best stitching tutorial I've ever seen. I love how you show the stitch technique first and then go on to show how to use it. Thank you.
You have a lovely way about you! Thank you for the video - going to try the palestrina stitch!
Great. Thanks now I believe I can attempt lettering.
Thank you Sarah.
Thank you for the refresher course. I am 55 and I used to embroider with my great-grandmother as a child. I loved it, and I loved the time with her. I am a grandmother now and want to embroider my granddaughters name on everything. When she is older I hope to teach her. I will have to practice till then. I am starting off with pillow cases with their names for Christmas. I have never seen that last stitch before it's very pretty. Thank you.
It's great to pass this skill down through the generations Dj, how wonderful to be taught by your great grandmother!
Great camera work. Good to see different perspectives of the stitches. Much appreciated 💜💐💜
Can not say thank you enough for this wonderful tutorial. You are a great teacher.
Thank you Sarah, you are an exceptional detailed and thorough teacher 🎉
That H is gorgeous!! Thank you for making these videos ❤
Thank you for all your wonderful tutorial videos Sarah. The Palestrina stitch has always intimidated me. I watched this video again, took a deep breath and worked a few samples (as you recommend in another video) and I manged to master the stitch - well, sewed it well enough to add to the embroidery I'm working on at the moment anyway. I was so pleased with myself that I bragged to my husband, who knows what's good for himself, and he complimented my neat stitches. 😀
He's well trained Rosemary!! It is a beautiful stitch, well done for sticking with it x
It's an old saying, but one worth keeping: "Happy wife, happy life."
Assuming it comes from conversation and mutual compromise, of course.
Amen lol lol
So thorough and clear to follow!
Thanks 😊, lovely ❤️
I used to do embroidery as a small child, tray clothes, chair backs, hankies etc. but I'm thinking of taking it up again as an lady in my late 60'sso your videos are really awesome for me to 'relearn' this lovely stitchwork.
You never forget Margaret!

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain these stitches so clearly. I have never done this before and yet I was able to follow along easily.
Glad it was helpful Amy!
You are such a wonderful teacher...full of grace in the best possible way.
Fantastic tutorial! I wanted to embroider my little granddaughter's name (its quite long LOL!) on a quilted pump bag for her first day at school this September.
I loved the palestrina stitch as soon as I saw it and started straight away. I found it very easy following your detailed instructions. It's looking beautiful in the variegated thread as you suggest. I'm sure my daughter and her little girl will love it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Your teaching style is very relaxed but also precise.
Glad to be of help Madforbread! I'm sure she will love her new pump bag!
Thank you so much Sarah! You made it very easy to understand and I could see everything you were doing! I hope to make my letters as beautiful as you have!

It’s been years and years since at last did embroidery, I find it very relaxing and glad I found u and new stitch’s to try
Good instructions
This is such an easy to understand guide Sarah, thank you so much. First time I've actually understood what I'm meant to do!
Beautifully done. Thank you.
Your tutorials are superb!! Thank you!!
Thank you so much! You teaching from your Heart ❤️ I can understand so clearly!
Thank you so much for your clear explanation and excellent close up camera angles! Great video!
It's the little details that so improve our stitching! I learned three things: the two little stitches after the waste knot, deciding the direction of the loop based on the curve of the letter, and the leaving a little space when stitching where the letter crosses. None of my methods left me satisfied with the result. I will put all three of your methods into place.
Thank you So much! I have learned so much from your videos.
very very helpful and easy to follow, thank you so much for this!
Thoroughly wonderful ❤
Thank You!
Fabulous to see another Australian….beautiful work
Another Australian Elmo?🤔
I haven't even gotten to the end of your stem stitch and I know this is the best tutorial ever. Thank you for the clear explanation!
Glad you are enjoying Beena!
The palestrina stitch is so pretty! Thank you for the tutorial =)
I love this stitch - very best demo of how to do it I have ever seen.
Thanks a lot for your work!

Ugh! The stem stitch is SO PRETTY!!!! 😍😍😍 it’s so perfect for cursive! Thanks 😊
I've watched loads of embroidery video's but this one actually taught me something, now I think I'm ready to give it a go myself, Thankyou
Glad you found it useful Elizabeth! Hope you enjoy these stitches...
Thank you, Sarah, that was nicely detailed and easy to follow. I'm just beginning, and I'm glad to have found you early on - I feel like I've gotten a running start!
One comment on the overall video, which was excellent overall...I notice that in many, many tutorials, across all kinds of craft, the artist never shows the entire final product. I wish you had showed us the full array of embroidered letters at the end of the demo, to get an idea of how each style contrasts with each other, as in a sampler. I was looking forward, after following through all the intricate work, to seeing a final product - closure, if you will! And a useful tool for selecting and designing.
We will take your point into account; if you follow me on social media there is often pictures of the stitching on there!
Very nicely done. Would love to see more advanced embroidery stitches and techniques. So many people upload the same basics. It was good to learn the Palestrina stitch
We've had alot of embroidery beginners recently so we are trying to give something for everyone! We have some more complicated stitches coming for those that need a bit of a challenge!
I've just found your channel!. I ADORE iT. I self taught myself to embroidery in the late 60s early 70s. I throughly enjoy watching you do the stitches "correctly". So to say. Your tips, stitches, and the way your voice is so soothing, makes your channel a joy to watch. Thank you very much for your channel! Great work!
lovely video thank u so much ♥️
Very nice! Thank you
Lovely line stitching! I love having a try afterwards, thank you for sharing!
You are very patient, just as though we’re in front of you. Thanks
Best tutorial.
What amazing stitches! The lettering on my cat’s shirt fell apart after I put it in the wash. I decided to go with couching for part of the design. Before this, I only did cross stitch and samples. Thank you for helping with this project and I enjoy it so much that I want to do more in the future. I really appreciate it that gals like you take the time to share their talents on CZcams.
Make sure the thread ends are extra secure if you are going to wash it Hazel and that you put your stitches nice and close together
@@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery good idea. I might need to hand wash it.
As a calligraphy artist, thank you! I love this stitch!
Very well done, thank you so much! This is just what I needed, especially the little details to make it just right.
Enjoyed watching thank you
It is oh so beautiful work!
Thank that was easy to follow, I enjoyed listening to you.
Very clear instructions and video! Do you have a video of how to embroider teeny tiny letters (maybe a quarter inch)?
Thank u mam, nicely shown
So glad I found you I've just picked up on my cross stitch after moving house a few times, can't wait to try the letters 😊 Elaine x
Can not say thank you enough for this wonderful video. You are a great teacher.
You're very welcome Janice!
The Palestrina Stitch is FIRE.🔥❤🔥🔥I have it on repeat. Thank you Sarah.❤
I’m so happy I found your videos, I really enjoyed embroidery as a youngster, but life gets in the way, I am getting back into it and will practice these stitches. You have such a calming voice and your approach is relaxed, I appreciate these videos and the time you have put into making them, thank you
Thank you for watching Michele, glad you are finding them helpful!
The more complicated or fancy the better. My mom always liked to take on a challenge and I'm the same way. I REALLY like that last one
Wish I could add pictures because I have been avoiding embroidering lettering since I started last year but just watched your video and gave it a go! Really happy with the results :) Thanks so much! x
Make sure you check out our video going up later on today!
Thank you for your video is amazing greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴 😍 😍 😍 ✨✨✨💕💕✨
Hope all is well in Colombia Nataly!
Great teacher thank you
Thank you. Your video is very easy to follow and is just what I was looking for to help me personalise Christmas decorations 🙂
A great tutorial I’ve been embroidering for year but I’ve learned so much for you, thank you 🙏
This is great, im having a hard time stitching letters and this video helps me a lot.
you just have such a calm and gentle demeanor. It's so peaceful watching your do embroidery! Thank you, I will try embroidering my newborn niece's name on the diaper bloomer I made :)
I'm like a swan Tara, calm on the surface...:) Hope your lettering works well; I don't know what fabric that would be but if it has any stretch make sure you don't stretch it before you sew on it!
Amazing video and so useful. Thank you.
I will definitely be practicing some of these! Thanks Sarah.
Thank you for explanation and video of cable chain stitch. This is the most understandable explanation I have read/watched. I have been trying to learn this for months.
Thanks for sharing.
Love the Palestrina! So pretty!
Thank you for such detailed and easy -to-follow instructions, you are a pleasure to listen to.
