As with most comic book characters, there are often re-imaginations and different versions to a character's past. We have chosen primarily to follow the storyline which unfolded in 1983's Justice League of America #219 and 220 which was expanded upon in 1990's Secret Origins #50, 2012's Birds of Prey #0 and in 2013's Birds of Prey #25.

In my headcanon, there are only two Black Canaries, mother and daughter. The mother was the powerless, street vigilante from the Golden Age and then she had a daughter with a sonic scream, who took the legacy of her mother to become the actual Black Canary we know and love

I really like Black Canary. She is a good tactician, a hand to hand combat specialist, reliable team leader, capable to stand her ground with most super powered villians, and most importantly; brave and confident to go in battle with that outfit. ;D

I know some people may like Sara more than Laurel but it was Laurel death that received the most significant backlash from fans and critics.

users 102030 that BC should have been Dinah Laurel Lance. She's supposed to be with Oliver, not Sara, and fucking Felicity Smoak.
I've made many mistakes, THAT isn't one of them. That said, I've heard mixed things about S5. It's fine if you like it. I MIGHT check it out later on Netflix when I got time. But I overall started to get sick of the Arrowverse where 90% of the problems would have been solved if they didn't act like idiots. It's just me. The only thing that might bring me back is if Manu Bennet returns as Deathstroke in a larger role.

It was devastating to see her die in the show. Dinah Laurel needed to completely transform; it always felt she was the shadow of someone. And, she had her toy, but she barely used it. I think it would have been better if they showed her doing her cry instead of taking orders from everyone. And, the show was always pointing toward Felicity. It would had make more sense since she was in the public eye. Plus, LOT future indicates that Felicity is not the CEO of Atoms' industry.

In the future episodes where his brother took control of the atom design suit and made robots from the pattern. I could not remember her last name, so therefore I reference to Atom. If Felicity would be in control, she would not allow that information to be acknowledge.

why can't the origins of a character ever be simple? it's always getting remastered or just completely scrapped and started a new so you have no idea what it is
Yeah that's what I hate about DC there's to many reboots it gets to confusing DC is the main comics who make it confusing and they always try to explain the reboots and there's always contradictions

I'd recommend the Birds of Prey series by Chuck Dixon, it's basically a Black Canary comic with Oracle in a supporting role and it's awesome. Like a Superhero Mission: Impossible, with a dash of Bond, complete with intrigue, witticisms and globe-trotting adventures, and it's so well written

Arrow was stupid to kill her of, they never cared for her anyway, the show had great writers in season 1 and 2 But awful ones from season 3 and forward that's why people prefered Sara over Laurel because they wrote her bytter and gave her more backstory, when Laurel took over she Got shitted on plus Marc and Wendy Pretty Munch only care about one thing. Katie is a great actress and did well with what little she actually got, she could've been given a lot more screen time and development. I am one of the few people that prefered Laurel over Sara, she wanted to hele people and didn't sleep with her sister's boyfriend, i loved from the first episode and she proved herself to be a Badass already in season, then she startes drinking in season 2 But got out of it, in season 3 she goes out in the street But gets beat up until she slowly gets better, she could've been really great at the fighting if she hadn't grotten killed of or if she had gotten actual screen time, i prefered Laurel over Sara because we saw her start from scratch.But i hope the Black siren that we'll see on the flash will be a permanent character, i don't watch Arrow anymore because of how terrible it's gotten but if the Black siren from Earth 2 joins them then maybe i'll consider watching it again.

I hope Black Siren gets a redemption arc on Arrow and becomes the new Black Canary. I want Dinah Drake to go over to Legend's. I love her character, and I don't want to see her go. At least not so soon. Maybe she can either be a character on Legend's and- at some point- move to Earth 2 and become the Black Canary of their Earth. Have her become a recurring character that we see every once in a while. I just don't want her to die or go forever.

On the real tip, Origins have never been confusing. When they came up with the concept of two black canaries that went over smoothly. When the crisis came through and they merged everything into one Earth her Origins we're pretty much the same with just a minor non confusing update.

The Black Canary character on Arrow is fragmented. Sara Lance begins the idea of Black Canary, Dinah Laurel Lance the comic book Black Canary, Dinah Drake the metahuman and Earth-Two Dinah Laurel Lance who has all the characteristics but is for now called Black Siren (who was no comic origin but is in a cartoon somehere - I think she's called Donna Nance). I won't go into the future storyline in season 7 for sake of spoilers. It gets better but CW's Black Canary is not a perfect representation of the comic book character who could outfight Green Arrow and even Batman - something Sara wouldn't even have the skill to do - if you've read some of the 1990's Birds of Prey or even seen Young Justice you could believe that.

2. Fell in love with Larry lance and had a child
3. That child was blonde and had the canary cry. Her name is Dinah laurel lance.
4. Dinah laurel lance who is the new black canary gets with green arrow and uses her awesome canary and expert martial arts to fight bad guys.
