      I also wonder if some kind of greenscreen technology is involved.

Anything that makes it better for the viewers AND easier for you is a big plus...I cannot emphasize enough how your contributions have made the board game hobby better. Thanks for doing what you do!

    The game looks really cool but I’m worried it might have too much stuff to track for a solo player. Also, this is a resource optimization game with shared resources between players so if playing co-op, there may be endless discussions about every decision. Does anyone else agree?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  Před 5 lety +3

      it is a discussing the plan kind of game, no doubt. and i've effectively played it solo (to demo it in this video) and i didn't think it was overwhelming. this is nothing like fury of dracula, for instance. often only some characters are applicable to a given task, or are completely exhausted, so pretty quickly you get into the zone about who is best suited for whatever problem presents itself :)

    How invested do you feel in the quests. Biggest problem with previous games is the quests were dry. What makes gta and red dead work is the side quests are fun and feel Ike you want to invest. Not some random kill one monster take random loot and next quest is unrelated.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  Před 5 lety +2

      i've only seen a few quests of course, but they're fairly straightforward. go to a place, find a thing, take it to another place. or go to a place, face a challenge. or go to a place, talk to a person, face combat. etc :)

    "Weight rating: 3.00"
    That honestly does seem low for this.
    Though I'm wondering why the game fails if the crew mutinies. Does everyone just die in the fight? Does the ship have more crew than 9 people who could kill the playable characters?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  Před 3 lety

      i'd say 3 seems a tiny bit high, honestly.
      if everyone is KO'd in a fight, you don't lose, you just end up back at the nearest port, with some time lost on the overall mission clock :)

  • @DanielHolding

  • @parisnicolaides1552
    @parisnicolaides1552 Před 5 lety +1

    My only concern for this game is replay-ability. Once the game is won (or even lost) are you not slowly knowing the technical outcomes of all the mysteries in-game thus making it repetitive? For example you take your found rusty dagger to it's end location and complete the quest. Next time you play you will know this for many cards making it repetitive?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  Před 5 lety +3

      next time i play, i just won't go do the rusty dagger thing, if i think i saw everything that was there (remember, often you'll make a choice, that will cut off one outcome in favor of another). there's so much content here, you can play the full campaign several times, and simply go in different directions and explore completely different areas of the world :)

      Assume there is a green screen mat with a 2nd camera overhead, and this green screen is overlayed on top of the main camera view. I agree that this is a brilliant way to do it and solves the main issue with static cam playthroughs.

    Never played his other games. I like the theme of this. Unfortunately it's a pass for me. Don't have the funds right now and hopefully there are no KS exclusives. It pains me that there are exclusives to entice backers. It irks the heck out me as I'm a completionist of sorts. If I get a game, I would like everything that the game provides for more variability including expansions.
    I digress. Don't mean to start ranting on KS exclusivity. That said, Perhaps I can pick it up later for pre-order. Seems like most Kickstarters are doing that more often to get late backers on board.

      there seems to be lots of content to justify price point of $70, but $150 for everything does seem steep for a RRG.

    Good review, just slow down a bit :D As I see the game gets harder the more player there are? As the "men power" gets divided. If you play alone with controlling all the crew than you can use all of their power/skill so the challanges are easier to pass.

      @rahdo  Před 5 lety +2
