This is the first informative video I’ve seen about this issue. I’ll start keeping a close eye on my Roses, I’ve not noticed this damage. Hope I haven’t jinxed myself by saying that.
Hope your all enjoying this 4th of July.

Thank you for such great information on stem borers. I learned a lot from this. As the saying goes, knowledge is power. Olga, I watched your video on preparing soil for roses and as a result I ended up listening to a podcast interview with Dr Elaine Ingham. It was a lot to take in, extremely interesting, but a little overwhelming! I must say that your explanations are so very well presented and easy to follow for us mere mortal gardeners without a science degree! Bravo! You do a magnificent job. As usual, I enjoyed every minute.😊❤from Australia.

Do you buy roses bare root or already potted? I’ve been buying the bare root type and they bloom well at first, but get progressively weaker in coming years. I want lush full ones like the ones in your pictures. I usually get just 2 or 3 main canes.

If your roses slowly decline in vigor in your garden, there is some problem with care or location. The best approach would be to do soil test. Roses like slightly acidic soil. People very often disregard this advice, but it is the best first step for successful gardening.

Well, you know that some roses are more prone to black spot and leaf diseases in general than others. And it is up to the gardener, how much of unsightly foliage he/she can tolerate. DA former rosarian recommends not to look at roses in August, since that is the time when foliage suffers.... Ha, I am not sure if I follow that advice. So, you have to use sprays early in the season in order to avoid black spot later. If black spot is present, it can be hard to control it. I have a video on black spot. Check it out.
