My grandfather designed a fold-up ping pong table that I used to play on as a child. Now that my son has found an appreciation for the game, I wanted to recreate his design. After much trial and error, I figured out how my grandfather had done it! It's a regulation size ping pong table that folds up to a width of 18" for easy storing and can be deployed and folded up in seconds. This is a fantastic design! So if you're a fan of the game like me, you'll definitely enjoy building this project AND playing on it once you're done!

You're so unique Drew, from not cheesy jokes and honestly funny outtakes, to the heartwarming tributes to your parents and grand parents. Nostalgia is so underrated nowadays, and you're doing a great job sharing it in your videos. A pleasure to watch
Thanks so much! I appreciate that. :)
I absolutely agree. I watch tons of videos concerning wood working, metal works, DIY'ers doing plumbing or electrical work and it's a rarity anyone mentions who they "learned" how to do this or that. My father would notice a neighbor building something in the backyard and he'd grab me and say we're going over to Mr. Smith's house o watch him build a dog house. When I asked why, he'd say you can ALWAYS learn from any tradesman. It's free education. I learned a lot from their skill as well as their mistakes; but most of all I learned about life.
I wanna build one, But, does your neighbor have any wood left?
Drew you are without a doubt my favorite CZcams woodworker. You paying homage to your dad or specifically your grandfather (flathead screw). Also your own dorky jokes. Such a great pleasure watching you in action.
Thanks, Michael!
Man, rarely have I taken such a huge pleasure from any kind of DIY. You americans are masters of wood craftsmanship, possesing all the tools needed and using them always with safety measures taken
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
I could see this as a lightweight work table for my shop. I could also see it being used as a platform for a model railroad.
or a table for wargaming
This brought back so many memories for me.
My grandparents had a ping pong table when I was a little kid. We played on that all the time, either in the back yard, on the lanai (as my grandma used to call it) by the pool or in the garage if it was raining.
As the youngest, I got beat by my older brothers all the time, Even my grandma wouldn't just let us win, we had to earn it. My grandpa on the other hand, was more forgiving.
So, so many wonderful memories from my childhood playing ping pong.
You did an incredible job designing this table and putting it together. The maiden voyage, as it were, of folding it out put a huge smile on my face. I love your style, Drew. I wish I could be your neighbor. I'd buy a bunch of wood just to see what you'd make next.
Haha, thanks! :)
It turned out perfect! I like that you incorporated "a nod to your grandfather."
That brass slotted screw was nearly the best part of the video.
There are few things consistent in the world - one of them being Drew's ability to somehow put walnut and flatheads into his projects
Awesome design! This would make a great roll away table for game night, or big holiday family dinners.
I could see widening the cross supports so when its folded for storage it could double as a display self.
... I see another project in my future.
That would be cool!
Fancy!
The Flathead screw was the perfect touch!
This is the most I have enjoyed a woodworking video in a long time. Thank you for creating this work of art.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the 2A artwork in the background of the father - son game! I knew there was a reason I liked you so much!
My favorite part was the flat head screw under your brand. Sweet touch and classic Fisher’s Shop build.
Thanks Janet
This is an ingeniously constructed ping pong table. Truly. Your humor, honesty, and straightforward descriptions of what you're doing help the viewers connect with you and see themselves in your shoes, building this themselves and likely making the same or similar "oh crap" mistakes. I am going to get these plans, and revel in the looks of anguish and defeat as I crush, err instruct my children, in ping pong. Hehehe. Thank you for yet another informative and creative project that we can enjoy with our friends and family.
Awesome! Be sure to send me some pics of it once you're done. I'd love to see it
Hi Drew, I was about to type a comment about the missing flat head screw... but what can I say. This video has everything: fine humor, neighbourly misconduct, tapperoos and flat head screw. As always a joy to watch! Best Regards, Daniel
Thanks, Daniel! Glad you liked it
I just re-watched this video, though this time my wife sat through it with me. She laughed til she cried at the salt joke. When she saw you making the trim using the walnut, she said “mmm. Unnecessary walnut.” lol
Thanks, as always, for another entertaining video. For my own sake, I’m not showing her your laundry room remodel videos.
That's awesome. Haha... glad you both liked it
Very nice design and well built. Kudos to you
Thanks 😊
Love the build! Awesome to see the family involved as well. One of these days we are going to witness the fishing hat wearing, double eye staring, neighbor of yours giving you a life lesson over your neighborly fence. It probably be about the pesky squirrels who often carry off his surplus lumber staged for projects he has around his house.
That folding mechanism is awesome! Legos are highly underappreciated as usable woodworking tools 😁
Totally agree!
@@FishersShop Your Legos model was most impressive, not everyone can drive a bunch of plastic pieces like you . . . that was as ingenius as your table design, or more so.
Another great project. Love it
Glad you like it
I have searched the net and bye far this is the most innovative ping pong table out there I will be purchasing the plans thank you
Have fun building!
Another Fisher masterpiece!!! I love that you incorporated the flathead screw from your grandfather into the build. I'm sure he is smiling down on you each time you do that! Admit it......you son won the game didn't he? You have such a nice family!
Thanks, Lori! Haha, he's getting good real quick. Pretty soon he'll be whoopin' me.
I think you made a wonderful ping pong table that will make a lot of memories for your family. It's also helpful to make family time plus when your kids have their friends over. Thank you for sharing this with me 🤔
You bet! Thanks, Richard
So awesome!!
I admit I bought our table that received many years of use (and abuse!) for my sons and I to play, but watching you put yours together is inspiring. I hope you build years of memories with your family with the pride that you built it from the inspiration contained within your own memories as a child.
Thanks, Justin! It's already making some great ones and I hope to make many more.
Sir, you are a legend !!🙏
Thanks! :)
I so love you Drew… not to be confused with being in love (NOT!). But we could be identical twins separated at birth, I have been wanting to build a ping pong table for the new dream home game room. You have done this before… put out a video when I’m searching for plans or ideas for a project. If we aren’t brothers we are at least Kindred Spirits. And the Brass Flathead screw… that was incredible, as I add a little of my Grumps to every wood project I do because he started my passion and taught me all of my beginning skills that has been an almost 55 year affair with wood and steel!
Hehe, thanks Brady
This is the nicest looking ping pong table i have ever seen and the folding mechanism is great. By far my most favorite feature though, is the addition of your grandfathers single brass flathead screw.
Thanks, Alan! :)
This is a fabulous project! I played countless hours of ping pong on my grandfather's table. Just might have to make my own! Thank you very much for this video.
Have fun!
Just bought the plans for this so I can modify it to make an outfeed table for my tiny shop. I just have to make it so that the top is higher when open and it does not need to be as big. I have been trying to figure out how to give myself plenty of outfeed table space without taking up most of the one car garage (which I have to share with my wife's car). Now I can break down full sized sheets of plywood a lot safer.
Thanks for sharing those tips and the make!
You bet!
Drew is both a comic, and a woodworking genius.
Thank you
So many memories, good to see you're still making magic.
I love the humor!
Thanks
I will definitely be buying the plans. What a great project for the family! Thank you for putting all your dadness (puns, mess ups, and hilarity) in your videos
You're welcome! Have fun with your build
Drew you've done it again!
Thanks, Zach! :)
Your vid made me smile when I saw you and your son play. Reminded me of when I was a kid and how much fun that was! Also those walnut ‘lines’ are so gorgeous. Thanks!
Thanks!
Your neighbors MUST really love you so much. Invite them over to play and see what their plywood turned into. Also love the single flat head for your grandpa.
Thanks, Robert!
It’s amazing! The way it folds up into a cool shape and can be stowed away!!! Love it and appreciate the home videos
Glad you enjoy it!
Great work ! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you! 👍
That is absolutely great. Good work. I’ve been planning a fold up table for a large format CNC and this looks like it could work great 👍
Great design, Drew~! My wife and I were just talking about ping pong today and here's this video. I might just have to take this on. Used to have so much fun as a kid playing others at our neighborhood pool where we had a table. Thanks much~!
Go for it!
Awesome table
Thanks!
i like that you chose the 3/4" plywood vs trying to scale up the lego's ;) Love your videos, and am so glad I have a few to watch tonight.
Hi Drew, Another amazing and fun project. ALWAYS a pleasure to watch. Thank you!
Thanks Chuck!
Darn You Drew!!! Over the last few months of watching your videos I've developed this strange penchant for installing totally unnecessary walnut trim on a a lot of my projects! BEWARE people-this disease is easy to fall in to.I don't know where this is going but I'm starting to gaze longingly at the edges of my computer! Thanks for the great vids.
Walnut would make your computer go faster too.
@@FishersShop Should I round over the edges to ease the slipstream?
Fantastic. Always love your projects!
Thank you so much!
Sick!!

Beautiful work Drew!
Thank you kindly!
Great job as always and the outtakes are great.
Thanks!
What a great video! Heartwarming and a real cool design. Thanks Drew
Glad you liked it!
Beautiful job on the table build and design Drew. We had a Ping Pong table that folded up when I was young, but nothing as nice as this. Lots of memories playing on it with family and friends.
Thanks, Bob
Adding in that commemorative screw was a Great touch! Beautiful work through and through!
Thanks, Joe!
@@FishersShop My pleasure! And Thank YOU for all the quality content you've made over the years! Aw-inspiring and really helped ignite my passion for creativity in the wood realm! Putting together my shop soon and a lot of what you've presented will inspire and influence what I'll be doing with that space.

Just to let you know, DIY guys from cold Russia watching your channel. Even my friend - real tough blacksmith from very north of it (we only see his smiling at the end of your videos) sending you “Hi” (because he doesn’t know English =) ) So keep going!)) With all seriousness good luck 😉
That is awesome! Спасибо Спасибо!
