  • Checking out the new firmware from www.tauntek.com for the Bit 99 with a early version of a stereoping controller layout.
    Sakata DPM-48 on beats. Bit 99 sequenced by Yamaha RS 7000, DPM synced by KMS-30. Running through the new Klark Teknik 3rd Dimension.

    Pure dopamine for the soul! 😃Which mode was activated on the Klark Teknik 3rd Dimension?

    What is the LED screen mod on the Sakata?

      It's a BPM display. Looked pretty hacked together from the inside and also butchered the frontplate. I removed it, since it did'nt work.

    Great video - thanks. I have just bought the Tauntek Firmware and am about to install it into my Bit One. When you change the Bit sound using the StereoPing, can you then save that sound into the Bit One as an instantly accessible saved sound?

    • @umusic6
      @umusic6  Před 2 lety +1

      Sure, that's possible. The controller is just sending Midi CCs, which act like you change the parameters on the front-panel of the Bit itself. You can also send the Midi CCs from a DAW or any other Midi CC capable device.

    Hi, is it possible to do filter sweeps without sending another midi note to trigger the filter with this mod+controller upgrade?
    On my Bit99 the filter response updates only when you press a key, if you hold a key while changing the cutoff it doesn't respond until you hit another key

    • @umusic6
      @umusic6  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, thats correct, most parameters are only updated when a voice is newly triggered. Exceptions: DCO 1 Waveform, DCO2 Waveform, Noise, Detune, Wheel Amt, alle LFO Destination Switches, VCF Reso, VCF Env Invert.

      @@umusic6 I know but I'm still a BIT disappointed. By the way, seems that the waveforms morph gradually unlike how it happens with original buttons, is that correct? That would be cool, using some "middle of the road" waves

      ;) Yeah, but i think it's technically not possible to do get another solution without doing laborious additional analysis/changes to the bit 99 firmware. Might be a possibility to ask Bob Grieb (tauntek.com) if there is a chance to have a look into that again, but he's always quite busy with other projects.

    Bit99 always sounded phenomenal to me. Care to make KT 3rd Dimension demo with switching mono/stereo in the back?

    • @umusic6
      @umusic6  Před 4 lety +1

      Just uploaded a small test demo. The switch doesn't do anything significant to the sound, at least if the two channels are fed with the same signal. I have to test with real stereo material.

      @@umusic6 Great! Thank you very much! I'm unsure tbh how is supposed to work with stereo mode, I wanted to compare it to vst emulation to see if it's worth getting. There's a noticeable difference in "stereo" mode on vst but I'm not sure which audio routing it's emulating.

      @@umusic6 Hi, about the stereo try to use "layer"+"stereo" ... in this way you have the same sound made stereo ... you loose half of polyphony but the result is too amazing, reminding the binaural sound of the udo super6

    • @umusic6
      @umusic6  Před 3 lety

      I think we were talking 'bout a different 'stereo' mode here ;) The one of the Klark Teknik 3rd Dimension ;) But thanks for that tip, i'll try on the Bit 99.

    Just installed the tauntek version of mine. I’ve noticed a bug if i change a preset while I’m on my midi track in cubase the numbers in my crumar are going nuts

    • @umusic6
      @umusic6  Před 3 lety +1

      I have also noticed, that when you send a program change to the Bit, it will jump out of Adress mode (Led on the Crumar will jump back to Lower). You have to reenter address/programming mode again manually. You might contact bob grieb from tauntek.com.

      @@umusic6 Yes that what I'll do =), because I'm planning to buy an Ipad to controll it. I was hesitating with the stereolooping but since I also have a DX7 and think it will be a better solution for me. But I've created a group on Facebook call "Crumar Bit Users", you can share demo and problems that we can meet.I would love that someone can create an VST Editor for it. Since BitEditor does not work anymore.

      Untergeek has a template for the iOS App 'TB Midi Stuff' in place: www.untergeek.de/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Crumar_BIT_v1.tbms
      You can see it in action in my other Crumar Bit video: czcams.com/video/nYpjK_f8w4U/video.html
