Really appreciate all the kind comments. I made this video a LONG time ago but the channel has kept going ever since. Videos are much higher quality now and We're over 1000 videos now and I think you might enjoy it if you give it a subscribe. If not, that's cool too, and thanks for stopping by!
there are card lovers out there who collect cards and love to watch others open and view cards
It's so funny looking at the comments and seeing all the people who don't play Magic be so confused.
Guys, he didn't pay $1300 for the deck. He got a card that is part a very old, VERY powerful set- hence the title. The card (Mox Ruby) is currently priced in the thousands. You think that's crazy? Another card from the same set, Black Lotus, is worth about $27,000. He may be a nerd, and so may I, but he is one damn lucky nerd.
So how much is this pack? He mentions it being the most expensive pack he ever bought... is it 7,95$ ( he says something like that)
nizidibi that's how much the deck would cost when it was out but it's worth a lot more now
Drink NukaClassic that's only if you play standard if you play constructed there's no limitations except deck size and it's actually really fun
Drink NukaClassic well technically everything in life is a waste of money. You spend money on everything just to later never use said thing. Which is a waste of money. The point of spending your money on this game is to have fun while you have it
Watching him open the package is like watching a surgeon operate on a baby while wearing oven mits
"Try not to put any spoilers in the comments"
**puts spoiler in title**
Technically, no, he didn't, he just put how much the rares are worth in the title, not what they are.
idk wtf this is but i clicked on it....
+Wedge Lad It was in my recommended to, ive never looked up magic cards in my life on youtube...
"Don't put spoilers in the comments" *Titles the video "Guy opens $1300 Magic Card"*
Make sure if you open any really old collectable sealed decks, you open them like this guy did to maximize damage with fingernails and blunt scissors
Your collection probably sucks. Besides, many people even you may not even notice whether a card was handles without gloves. There are ways to clean things you wont even know about.
This video would probably seem way cooler if I knew something about Magic cards...
Same don't know someone knows just about every card or cares so much about a card that they literally wear gloves. I don't know who would pay for that card and tbh I would probably freak out too if I knew before hand it was a rare but only cuz I'm thinking of how much money I could get out of an idiot.
Dunno why I'm watching it...I know nothing about Magic and I don't really care about it
idk why im watching it either :D :D :D and i even forgot how i got here xD
This was really fun to watch. I love seeing good things happen to people. Never wound up with anything that rare playing in my teens, but it was a funny flashback recognizing some of the cards he flipped through.
This was in my recommended. Guy started talking and realized that it was the quartering lmao wild life
opening starts at 2:30
card opening at 4:40
Bladez, for 2 and a half minute he was talking about subscribers en likes.
Hate those people
I have no idea what this means but I'm happy for you.
+Chaotic Note I play Magic a bit, and I don't even know why it's so rare, this, Power Nine...
because it's free to play and use and gives colored mana with no drawback
pretty fucking broken
“Guys make sure not to spoil it in the comments”
*proceeds to give full explanation of video in the title*
Watching you try to open the pack was excruciating. My god, it's like cellophane is your kryptonite.
gloves, my man. gloves
+kazuan22 Very wrong, oils on your hands and oils from soaps used can leave oil stains on the card that can bring it from a 10 to a 9.
+ThreeDaysOfDan When you are dealing with collectors items, CONDITION IS EVERYTHING. Just wear the goddamn gloves.
I don't understand why people hate on MTG collectors. So what if a guy spends hundreds of dollars on one card? I don't tell people not to waste hundreds of dollars on tickets to watch sweaty guys toss a ball around or I don't tell people not to waste $200 on a jacket just to feel like a douche bag. I swear it's like people want to be condescending towards others. If you guys knew you could make that much money off of one card, you'd probably do it.
fucking hypocrites
It's small minded people like you who give card collectors a bad name :) (btw I'm not a card collector but I couldn't help replying to such an idiotic comment). People spend $200 on a jacket because they like it, who intentionally wants to look like a douchebag? And yes people pay a lot of money just to "watch sweaty guys hit around a ball" because it's entertainment, it's a sport dip ass
Frankie Luna If you are smart, you'd know that that isn't any different than card collectors enjoying what they love.
200 for a jacket ? What kinda cheap ass shit are you buying? If I'm Gona be a d bag I'm getting a 2,000 jacket boi
I miss playing this with my friends. Learning how to use the stack together was fun and frustrating. The art of the cards was awesome and building a deck was awesome, good times.
Why did I watch this. I know NOTHING about magic.......
Well, for context, that's an incredibly old set, from around 1990. Very, very valuable.
brandon dias lmao apparently I was far from the only one in the same situation
why is this recommended for me, I don't even know what magic the gathering is.
Well your profile has a starcraft cat. Starcraft was made by blizzard which made hearthstone. Hearthstone is magic the gathering warcraft edition. Maybe that's why it was there :3
Am I the only one screaming as soon as he pulls the ruby GET THAT SHIT OUT OF YOUR HAND AND INTO A SLEEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“When do you think the last power 9 was pulled on camera? Over a decade?”
Open boosters: hold my beer
When I first started playing, there was this guy who played for a long time that I played against. He had 4 Black Lotus in his deck for the purpose of getting a 1st turn win by making me draw out my deck using Tolorian Academy and Time Warp. I also remember at that time Alpha set stuff was expensive. Beta set stuff not so much. Unlimited set stuff was like trash. I actually had a couple dual lands and used them... Without deck protectors.
PUT IT IN A SLEEVE GOD DAMMIT
I am so excited. It reminded me of the time I opened a deck of cards and got 2 jokers and a calendar card. Those were the days.
That was a trip. Artwork brought me right back in time to grade 8. I remember playing with a lot of those very same cards.
i've never seen anyone struggle so hard to open a pack of cards in my entire life.
+Shane Cheah lol he tried to slice the end of the package with SCISSORS
+N Jugs I do agree that scissors suck, but he was pinching the plastic correctly just before he started poking the edges with safety scissors.
+N Jugs My jaw was gaping for at least 60 seconds when he tried to slice the plastic open pressing the scissors into the cards. I pretty much have to dislike due to complete stupidity.
$1300?? Dude that card is going for $6500 right now on SCG. You are a lucky guy!
You've came a long way man! In this video you were trying to reach 20k subs and now you have 160 fricken K!!! Congratulations man this is truly an awesome feat. Much luck to you on your future card endeavors!
The title kinda spoils it, but its cool anyways.
"don't put spoilers in the comments" spoils the entire thing in the title lmao
+Ricky Lam Dude could have flipped out over spending money on the pack and getting one of the laces in the rare slot.
After 20 years I finally got back into mtg and I loved this video.... You made me so nervous a decade later.... seeing you take the blade of those scissors unto the deck itself and force it into the cards was mad o.o
I remember back in the 90s playing with these decks. I remember doing a massive buy and though by the overrall buy being nearly damn 98% dupes, I pulled a Lord of the Pit, Force of Nature, Leviathan and Rock Hydra. Keldon Warlord was my favorite artwork.
why am i watching this? i dont even play magic?
me neither i was more focused on who the hell spends 1300$ on a card. I don't care how much you like the game unless you're rich that is a grotesque waste of money.
Ronan I can read... the title "Guy opens 1300$ magic card & flips!" Hence why I clicked on it because I wanted to know why someone would spend 1300$ on a card. And after watching it I still don't get it.
I can explain it without sounding like an asshole! So basically, people play Magic competitively, and also some card collectors want certain cards and will pay a lot for them. You can earn a lot of money from tournaments! And so people want to win tournaments with the best cards, and thats why cards can cost so much. :)
I know nothing about Magic, but it was in my recommended, so I'm here now
watching this 7 years later, wishing you didn't get screwed over with magic
I do remember opening my first (and only) unlimited starter deck (and 1 unlimited booster). I had played with my buddy's pile of 200 cards once before. I got a Scrubland and a Berserk as my 2 cool cards (and Clockwork Beast and that "make a card blue" interrupt.
there is nothing like opening a fresh pack of your favorite cards. For me it was YuGiOh. Smell of it was great.
for me there are exactly two things like it.
Opening a new videogame and opening a new piece of pc hardware.
That's not really the same. When you buy a video game or a new part you know exactly what youre getting. Opening a pack of trading cards was always incredibly fun. I remember being in 3rd grade and receiving 2 packs of yugioh cards from my mom. I opened the first and pulled out an ultra rare toon summoned skull, and a super rare toon world on the second. I practically shit myself with excitement.
I've been a comic book geek/nerd all my life and I say that proudly, I don't game but I know exactly how this guy feels now. I'm happy for you bro nice find.
"This is the crazy stuff I do..."
Opens a deck of cards.
Chris Bush well unlimited starter which can be about $900 so in that sense yes opening a 900 dollar deck of cards is crazy
hahaha yeah, I all I do is drinve my HSV down a quater mile in 12 seconds, cant compare really
I'm just watching this like wtf is going on lol I know nothing about this
"I bought this for you guys"
+NineOneSixx More like for views, subscribers, youtube money? Plus he keeps the cards (:
+NineOneSixx well, he's right... I do not understand a single bit why this is exciting, but trashing it would just be stupid (and ignorant but I'm guilty of that too), so congrats dude on... you know... this thing that happened to you! :D
haha i'm in that part of youtube where everyone just keeps clicking on recommended videos on topics and hobbies they know absolutely nothing about. at least i'm not alone in my journey into the unknown.
Those old white bordered magic cards r so classic and beautiful
F*** YEA! POWER NINE!!! *casually throws the ruby into the pile.
+Mephisto28890 calm down its not going to damaged its a piece of paper falling on other pieces of paper. it will be fine
+soralink411 correction thats a ery expensive piece of paper being htrown on cheap piece of paper
lifeiaskedfor i know its very expensive moxes can get up to 1500$ but i also know it will be fine
I know very little about Magic Cards, never watched a video bt it..
"recommended to you", well thanks CZcams
This video is SO old. I remember this from back in the day
I could print one of those out online tape it to a shit card and put it in a sleeve.
+Rare Pepe General Yes I believe those are proxy cards and upon inspection are shown to be worth nothing.... I could print money out to but....
+Rare Pepe General Using your logic, I can print out $100 bills, tape them to my $1 bills, and be considered rich.
OH MY GAWD, IM A FUCKING GENIUS!
'Try not to put spoilers in the comments section'. - puts 'Guy opens $1300 magic card' in the title.
Wheres the logic here? What am I missing?
+Destin Fair No he changed the title to a more clickbaity one since "magic the gathering pack opening" wouldnt get 2 million views
the point is he draft a card thats betwen 1500$ and 3000$ so he dident totaly wast his mony on this fucking ugly old cards
Isn't a bit retarded to buy a stupid game card for 1500$ or 3000$ ??
Do they think this card is really magic or what?
This is just confirming that this game is made for stupid losers.
I had a tonne of these cards back in the day that i traded for an ounce of weed... wished i still had them, might be worth slightly more now
I remember going to tournaments back in the day, and idiots walking around with half burned Black Lotus's pinned to their shirts.
"Try not to put spoilers in the comments section" lol but put them in the title instead
lmao i read this as he was saying it and i thought i was going insane, and he was in my head.
Never played this idk why its recommended...but I like reactions
It's a lot of fun though it can be addicting and kind of complicated. It's easy to pick up, though plus you can play free via Steam (or illigitimately via a program called Cockatrice).
Lol "How exciting is this?..." *crickets*
So good that you didn't put any spoilers
@David. Mox Ruby is a 0 drop instant source of red mana. So first turn, if you were to play your land, and drop a mox ruby, you would instantly have 2 mana available. That immediately is a massive advantage, specially when playing vintage when the games are incredibly fast paced. Mox Ruby is restricted in vintage, which means you can only have 1 of them. But lets say, before they restricted them, you drew 4 of them in your opening hand. Play a mountain, and drop 4 mox rubies, you now have 5 red mana before your opponent has even had a chance to put any cards down onto the field, this is incredibly broken, and thats why its restricted and extremely powerful. Even a single Mox Ruby is extremely powerful.
"This is the crazy stuff I do." dang bro, opening cards, livin' life recklessly
Holzer he meant spending retarded amounts of money on packs of cards that you probably wont get your money out of
bro , that wazs a pack from when me and my brother played MTG , which was when i was in fucking 1st and 2nd grade, so like 91-92 , like 25 year old deck
A mint Mox Ruby can go for much higher than $1,000. Especially with low supply, he could really price it for anything and it would be a valid price. Just depends on how much someone in the world is willing to pay for a mint Mox Ruby.
Oh the memories. I got a few decks of 1st or 2nd Editions of this game.
wow that excitement has a lot of quietness
7:00 for everybody that wants to see a man quiver in excitement over a piece of card stock.
Its 6 years later and im still watching this video
Haha those cards were new to me back in the day. Darn I miss playing magic.
2:20 - "So I will shut up, I have begged enough"
4:30 - Starts the actual opening.
I WOULD HAD USED A NEEDLE NOT SCISSORS TO OPEN IT
FUCK YOU
I was screaming at my phone when we started using the scissors.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING! YOU'RE GOING TO SCRATCH THE CARDS!"
too emotional for something that doesn't belong to me...
FUCK YOU i know how to open it (throws whole card deck in to a wood chipper they all get shredded to microscopic bits)
God damn im watching this 7 years later
I don't get it.... Why is this on my wall? I'v never watched anything with cards before...
lol his reaction "HAAHAAHAA FUCK YEA!"
XD MAUX MOOOBI!!!!! omg dude i lost so much air from lol plus migrane, op ecitement = subscribe.
Where can you use this cards tho? Sry i have no idea
I remember sitting with 8 friends shuffling those packs and passing to the left.
Plot twist: they are proxys
I've been playing magic since revised. There is a lot wrong with that starter deck. The least of which is the pixelization on the mox. My counterfeit black lotus has the same pixelization.
Yeah its very easy to buy a plastic wrapper. His mox do look like a proxy to me.
God I remember watching a couple of my friends playing Magic and I thought it was such a nerdy game. Then I won the game and I was instantly hooked. I had never played a fantasy based card game or any real game I would have described as “nerdy”. I had only played sports and video games. Glad I gave it a try.
9:02 Michael Jackson lives.
2:01 "We are adding 3000+ subscribers a Month"
From the date this video released to the moment I commented this comment is almost 42 Months (off by 3 days)
3000 x 42 = 126,000 subs
And he is now at roughly 140,000 subs
That is one hell of a psychic...
Thats crazy when you factor in he was 15000 when he made this video, 126+15=140. But even crazier when you consider the fact this guy and the guy who made the video are different channels..
Lol "winning the lottery would be nice" understatement of the year.
4 and a half years later and now there's 10 times the amount of subscribers. pretty good dude
"Try not to spoil it in the comments"
Then spoils it in the title
I don't know why i'm here either. Sometimes the internet's a strange place. You take one wrong turn and BOOM, magic.
Never played MTG but that was hype as hell!! Congrats
I've never seen someone struggle that much to open a pack of cards.
look a mox ruby with a free thumb print, discounted $250.00. Gloves wear them.
+soralink411 haha every Card ever pulled from a pack has a thumb print these are all TCG get over it does not hurt the worth one bit.
"oh man you messed up my piece of paper by soiling it with some particles of your oils and DNA now I can't successfully live my life with a sense of accomplishment whatever shall I do????"
mtgheadquarters that was soo much fun, this channel is awesome. im looking for that beta pack right now. ive got some unopened packs, if i donated them would you be interested in opening them in a vid , and maybe giving a shoutout?
Nothing stresses me out worse than watching someone to struggle to open a pack.
this might be the last time anyone's opened an unlimited starter; and this was 5 years ago
I thought he was going to do a flip, but I realized he collects magic cards so that was certainly not going to happen.
+Nit Picker he'll only do a flip if he rolls an 8. any other roll results in faceplant.
im just really stoned and like how these cards look.
6:17 that earth bind looks useful, seams like a good game.
"Wow...... I'm so excited"* silence *
didn't even get a shiny Charizard!
"try not to put spoilers in the comments" puts it in his title insted.
Holy crap Jeremy, is that you? Wow, 2013 vid.
Yet another video that was on my recommend videos that idk why I'm watching
same here
for real
Pretty funny to the none magic player on how excited he got & just screamed out the name. Congrats though man. Don't know what it means but, MOX FREAKIN' RUBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously same exact boat
