What drives a man to don a bulky dry suit, load himself with heavy equipment, climb aboard an underwater thruster and descend into the bowels of the earth for five long hours in water no more than 10 degrees? What desire pervades him to the point that he would go so deep into the depths, with only the light of his flashlights to illuminate the darkness, knowing that a thin "Ariadne's thread" represents his only chance of return? These are the questions we ask ourselves every time we follow Luigi Casati, one of Europe's most experienced cave divers, on one of his new ventures. And if each exploration can provide us with a different answer, identical is the motivation behind it: the passion for discovering unique, almost inaccessible places, revealing the mystery and secrets they hold. A continuous discovery made up of small steps, between failures and successes, in a path that follows a thread, ideal, to be found every time we are alone with ourselves again, a thread to be reknotted every time we find it in front of us, at the mercy of the current, torn.....
