    People that lose large quantities of weight, should also qualify to have the extra skin removed. That excess skin isn't just a cosmetic issue, it presents impossible hygiene issues and discomfort from chaffing... It's also a MEDICAL problem.

      If you’re 600 or 700lbs and lose like 300 lbs that doesn’t and shouldn’t automatically qualify you for skin removal surgery because you still have a lot of fat still in that skin. If you go from 600 or 700lbs down to 200 lbs you definitely will need skin removal surgery

      You'd think that if he could lose that much weight on his own, he could keep going and continue to lose weight to reach a weight that's healthy. It's safer and better in the long run than the surgery. There are all kinds of problems associated with the surgery.

    The only thing with these stories that I don't understand is that if the people are actually able to lose, for example 50-100lb in a couple months by shear determination and diet change, why do they still need the surgery....?

    • @sharong8511
      @sharong8511 Pƙed rokem

      Very few people are successful in keeping their weight down even with the surgery. You are left with a stomach the size of a golf ball and are supposed to learn how to eat healthy foods. A woman I knew who had the surgery continued to eat crap and drink sodas all day long. She did lose some weight; her highest weight was around 300, 350 lbs. This is Canada where health care is mostly free. I haven’t seen her lately but I did see her daughter, who after two pregnancies is a good 375 lbs. Nature or nurture? The grandmother was also a very large person.

    I have a genuine question. If they are able to lose 100lbs in just a few months with minor changes in their lifestyle, does that proof in the long run that they might not need the weight loss surgery to achieve their goal? I know there are many factors that go into the process, mostly psychological issues. I've been watching a lot of these videos lately and suddenly this question popped in my head. I would be glad to read your answers. â˜ș

    • @mingxuanfan

      It is still necessary. Their stomach has been stretched out so big, at least the size of a watermelon, it’s impossible for it to return to its normal size by itself. Just like their skins, both need surgeries to take the excess out. Inside and out.

    As a former obese person and by medical standards sorta am but by normal people standards not? I know all too well on how this feels! Food is not good but it’s like a drug. It makes you feel that good of a high and you cannot get enough of it and you feel like the second someone criticizes or makes fun of you? You go out to eat more. It is still a pain a year and a half in but I have went from 550 to 320 without ANY medical help such as surgery and etc. I got some love handles and a tiny bit of belly that discourages me, but I pulled through it. First I was keeping track of my steps slowly starting around 500 to 1k then as I got used to doing 1k steps a day on my I watch I’d go double. No pain no game. First the weight came off really quick, but now it’s falling off slower! I went from 2K steps all the way to 5 as of 4 months ago and 5K to 7K and now from 7K to 8 then over 10k steps now for the past 7days! Exactly 5miles outside a day or just in my kitchen floor walking! I feel so good to of shredded 250pounds off of my body! You have no idea how good it feels and not to have loose skin or extra anything or even surgery! đŸ€ŒđŸ» The only thing I did take advantage of is Ozempic because of being diabetic 2
