    Personal fouls should be automatic first down. If by the defense, loss of down for the offense. I bet that would curb some of the crap.

      I mean repeat down and go up 2 yards

    The refusal to wear mouthpieces during play and knees being covered by the pants are becoming epidemic. Punt formations are horrid for some teams. I assume that is why equipment will be a POE.

      The kids watch college football and see those short pants and think they can play better if only they can get their pants that short. Having the knees covered slows the receivers down SO much, don't you know.

      Send them off, every single player, send them off, don’t allow them on and during the pre game, we walk and let them know, you are not playing with your knees showing.

    They need to change the illegal participation rule. A receiver running down the sideline who steps out by accident shouldn’t be a 15 yard foul. Just make that receiver illegal and ball dead if he is the first to touch it
    Also add uncatchable rule since a lot of officals use that criteria anyway.

    There were a bunch of really good rule proposals on docket and they choose to do nothing. A lot of them would have made our game better...the Rules Committee gets a big fat F this year.

    The fact they there's only one rule change is an indication that the game is in good shape. I hope everyone pays attention to the POEs this year, especially the one on uniforms and equipment.

    Rule 1-5-1-c-5,6 is now in effect. This was a 2019(?) change with a 5 yr "wait clause" that's now expired. Basically it outlaws jersey numbers being the same color (or close color) as the jersey itself with an outline around it. The body of the number itself must be a color clearly contrasting to the jersey. The kicking team at 2:25 in the video is an example of what is not allowed effective in 2024.

      @steverohwer8323
      If a team has jerseys that are illegal what are you going to do? I'm curious, because we're going to play the game and then tell our assignor about the illegal jerseys, whom I assume will tell the state. Also, does your association get asked all the time about the legality of jerseys? As always, thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts.

      @@efoahighschoolfootballoffi150 that's a great question, and I've actually considered it. Yes we are going to play the game. How I'm going to handle it, until I'm told otherwise by higher ups, is in my pregame conference tell the offending team's head coach his team will be assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct foul at the opening kickoff for illegal equipment. I would tell the opposing coach as well as it may affect the decision on the coin toss. Even though the rule permits it, I would not charge the UNS to the HC, but rather the team, that way he doesn't get the thumb for one slip of the tongue or whatever during the game. In my area all the HCs and ADs have been reminded that this change has been coming in each of the last 3 seasons, so it shouldn't be any surprise around here.
      We have been asked a few times in the past couple years by some schools as to what the requirements will be come this year. Those HCs were being proactive before they ordered new jerseys (which I assume was the reason for the 'wait clause" when it was approved).

    There were some schools (way down south) that were rewarding their "Player of the Week" by allowing them to wear a different color jersey than their teammates, as long as it was dark contrasting with white....during a game. They were putting their star players in...let's say red while the rest of the team wore green. The rule clarifies that they all must be in the same color, not necessarily exactly the same jersey. This would allow teams to bring up sub Varsity players and have them on the sidelines wearing similar jerseys with at least the same base color.

      @CIF-pm7tk Před 2 měsíci

      What? wtf would allow that? This isn’t the Tour de France. You don’t get the gold jersey! 🤦🏼‍♂️ I would tell that team/coach/AD, not gonna happen, if it does, it’s going to be 15 yard penalty against the head coach.

      It was one of the proposals brought up. Another was to wind the clock after the ball goes out of bounds once it's inside the hash. That would've sped up the game even more. Maybe they think the games are already short enough, who knows?
