  • That's it. I'm done. I now have the best wood stove on the planet. I mean it when I say that. This stove is like no other and it's been hand-made for me. It's beautiful and tough and rugged and thick and hot. It has traveled across Canada to be in my tent and that's where it's staying.

Rob and Jerry did you a big deal. They must truly care for you. I hope the stove serves you well. More important though, you’ll do well to cultivate Rob and Jerry’s friendship. Texas

When you get time, get some exhaust assembly paste & apply it to the mating surfaces of all your chimney joints, just so it’s 100% gas tight.
I know you have a lot of air flow through the tent but if you can avoid any carbon monoxide leaks then all the better.
I couldn’t tell if the stove was vented straight out to the chimney or if it has a baffle plate ?
I purchased a wicked cooking pan this week Jay, it’s called a Ridgemonkey toaster pan, it’s awesome to cook toasted sandwiches with & other stuff.
    Have a search for one.

The beauty of that stove is its simplicity, all few parts fit perfectly together. I've never seen a stove like that, the stand is awesome, the stovetop a work of functionality. I'd want one smaller, like a Coleman cooler for a 4 person tent. Your friend needs to patent the design and start manufacturing the stove. He'll end up a millionaire quite easily. Does he take orders.

I did like the 55gal drum stove a lot and probably use one like it at camp . However the one u have now will out last u , me and probably a few others . I have something very veryyyy close to that in my home and like it a lot . Here is a tip for cooking on it so u don't over heat the pan / pot u are going to cook on it with , find a rack from a old house stove / oven and place on top of the stove . It still gives you the heat u need to cook but helps from burning things to the pan because it's to hot . I use mine a lot for cooking . And it works great for stews and soup and chili. When not using it just hang it from the rafters from a screw. And as the stove gets broken in you can and will be able to cook toast on the top just keep a eye on it , it Cooks fast . You can grill in the stove as well being u have the fire brick in it . Just find a old portable grill that is no longer in use and take the grill rack from it , place on the bricks and grill away . I have a short on my CZcams page if ud like to look at what I'm talking about . I was grilling chicken in the last one I posted . U truly will enjoy that stove Jay .
Ps , I may have made grilled cheese smitchs on my stove top with no pan . 😄😄😄 the butter Cooks off the metal and is fine 🙂👌

The thick guage steel of your new stove is ideal! Can't wait to see how you get on in an overnight stay but I'm betting it will be pretty snug 👍 Love the Parka btw it would be a bit too warm for Scotland except in the Highlands, midwinter! 👍💙

Hey Jay awesome video again. When you rode up on your sled I said to myself I want that coat as it looked like a big sweat shirt and I love your new stove as I have always wanted to add on to the house and put up a 4 seasons room and put a stove in and pretend like I was roughing it but still get the benefits of a stove and wood burner. My dad got his greatgrama stove that she cooked on and heated the house and he always wanted it when she passed away and about 45-50 years ago when I was still living at home we went to Iowa where I'm living now and he and I and a couple others loaded it up in a U-Haul trailer and hauled it to Cleveland Ohio and he took that thing apart and cleaned from top to bottom and even had parts rechromed and it looks awesome and he used it as a bar and and had some flowers on it but it looked like he bought it off the showroom floor as it looks brand new but my dad passed away 5 years in August and when my step mom passes away that is one thing I want of my dad's no matter how much it costs to get it here.in Iowa. Plus when I was in high school we would go down in the park system and grill breakfast and dinner over a campfire and stayed warm even in the deadest of winter and a friend of my brothers family would go also and we always had fun plus I was used to it as I was in scouting from around 10 years old till I was around 16 and I went camping every month maybe 2 weekends a month and my very first campout in a tent was in a Army tent for 3-4 and we would throw a bale of straw down to cover the ground. Boy do I miss those days as a kid. But love your videos and I was wondering if I could get some information on the lady that made your coat how big does she go, does she have a website ? Can't wait for your next video. With the new stove you can throw whole logs in instead of cutting wood up.

That's a beast of a stove. Many years long life to it and to you, sir. Your vids are great!

Jay, Congratulations, most will not understand the excitement of the new stove. But as an off-grid homesteader, a good stove is one of the most important pieces of equipment you need to live a happy warm life! My stove is designed much like yours made out of boilerplate. Vance.

Right on I like your stove I know the feeling I’ve got a couple homemade stoves and about 10 other stoves from different companies it’s one of my weaknesses love everything about wood stoves , your meals are mouth watering your absolutely right the ground meat is awesome when it’s crispy and that mixture of potatoes onions mushrooms it’s a classic thanks for your video really enjoyed that .
