Fun fact: When Macklemore was a teenager, he spent a summer in New York, going to thrift shops and buying the weirdest outfits possible. I heard this on Music Choice. :)
Man this song is giving me some nostalgia when i was in middle school back in 2012-2013 I was only 13 years old when I fully listened to it on my MP3 player I might have heard the song here and there when I was 12 years old but l never had the chance to to fully listen to it until I got my mp3 player for Christmas and had a friend of mine install it to my mp3 on his computer. I'm now 19(I'll be 20 in a few months) and this song is still a banger to this day.
Omg, me too I'm 2000 Same nostalgia, I remember when someone play this in school when we have music lessons xDDDD after 'fucking awesome" we stop listening because of angry teacher xDDDDDDD
Bruh childhood nostalgia is the best I turned 19 last month and remember when this song was playing everywhere. You couldn't walk into a gas station and someone or the gas station was playing it jeez I miss my childhood so much it's good to listen to songs I listened to when I was a kid. Most of the music nowadays just suck. Some don't even make sense. Now that I think about it only foreign people's and emo music like bad bunny or lil peep and very few artist are actually good. Who else is a 2000's kid and listening to this in 2020
I'm 29 and I remember hearing this when it first came out. I hated it at first and it was annoying as hell, but it grew on me the more I heard it. I play it to get me hyped up before going to Goodwill now, lol It's just so sad the media focused solely on this song and never played his other songs. "The Heist" is a brilliant album. Macklemore is "more" than this song - so make sure to check out his other songs.
I'm only 15 but my cousin always listened to this masterpiece, we were god damn obsessed with this music. I guess this was listened to by a whole generation.
Bro i was in kindergarden when this dropped. I listened to it all on the radio and at home. It was all over youtube and i loved it. Fav song. Now its sad how i grew up.
Once upon a time while this song was Red hot when it first released, I was going for a walk & out of nowhere this chunky girl was jogging & dancing SO good to this classic jam. I couldn't help but glare for a while, enjoying the show. Suddenly she saw me & jumped up surprised & super embarrassed. She just laughed & said hi! Unforgettable & Adorbes!😂🤗
When I was 7 (in 2013) my brother gave me an Xbox 360 with this song and some other songs by Macklemore and Imagine Dragons downloaded on the Xbox, and I would vibe to this playing the halo wars 1 demo (my parents only got me one game per year so I had to manage by playing demos over and over again) and I recently came back to this song and god the nostalgia
Very good way of handling that kinda thing that young. Not getting everything you want at a young age builds character. Props to your parents dude and you. You seem like you handle it well
@@ElicitDaG the nostalgia bro same. I and my buddies would listen to this album on repeat and imagine dragons would slap too. SO many days playing Minecraft from morning till night and bumping Macklemore haha.
Nearly a decade later and I still remember the reaction of my teacher hearing this played at homecoming for the first time. 😂 he got so mad at the lyrics
Walk into church thrift store with $50. Emerges with jacket, jammies, bedding, new desk chair, pants, and a suit w/tie for like $30. Tip the old church ladies at the register $20, give them a hug, and feel like a king.
@@DauraTHEEXPLORA nah ain’t no way you jus said Macklemore is better than Travis Scott listen to nightcrawler stargazing or butterfly effect way better than the shitty white boy rap
I grew up on this song and what's ironic is that a year before I was a Junior in highschool I got some dresses for my junior and senior proms. It only turned out that one of the prom dresses that I had gotten was actually a bridesmaid dress from a bridel store that had shut down in my area (David's Bridal). The original price was $60-$80 I got it at Goodwill for $15-$20. And it was in my favorite color purple 💜. It also turned out that I didn't need my other prom dress because we didn't get to have a senior prom because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But I'm just glad that I got them both for at least $25 at Goodwill than spending $100+ on prom dresses from other retail stores. My bestie she and her mom went ahead and bought a prom dress in January of 2020 for prom and it cost them $300 for it to only not be able to wear it and same thing for the other girls because I think that I overheard alot of girls complaining about it.
