I hope you'll enjoy this rather cosy town and its interesting history carved between the Normans, the local Lords and a very medieval background, reflected on its stony charming atmosphere. A quiet town in the beautiful Abruzzo region.

A very quiet town, indeed, beautiful views towards the mountains. Not a soul, except for the one cat in the old town. The narrow alley going up @51.17 is so narrow.
Tell me, Riccardo, all these small towns have so few inhabitants but they are all so well maintained and clean. How do they pay for it?

Good question actually...either the administration is excellent, or the few inhabitants are really keen on maintaining it that way. Maybe both. Though I suspect many are second-houses. Maybe a mix. Loved the town , that was an amazing day as I could visit 2 towns (Anversa and Castrovalva) which were so close and in 1 day. Love Abruzzo. I have some few videos to show !

Riccardo, how do people in these small towns shop for groceries? Small local shops or drive to a larger town with larger stores? Do wild animals inhabit the forests and hills? The word "precise" (in some areas) comes to mind as we walk these streets. Your videoing has become so smooth it's as if I'm floating through this charming town. Thank you for yet another enchanting adventure. Yikes! What kind of monstrous bug was that at 59:40? Had to chuckle -- you almost had a traffic jam at 1:08:49!

Sharon! Hih, i definitely chuckled at both moments, as I didn't actually notice them at all) Usually when I stop to relax , I leave the camera there and go a little around (behind it) to see some more, always keeping an eye on it of course, so... or I just enjoy some views around. About the groceries... well it's an interesting question; since the inhabitants are only 300 I suspect the majority of the houses are "second homes" for people living away (maybe in bigger cities). I saw some shops in the main square, and usually the "daily groceries" are bought there. Couldn't really see big supermarkets around though, away from the town, but I'm sure maybe a 20 minute drive and there they are. Older people usually walk with their groceries in these tiny alleys , like in other italian villages, like it's the usual way they always did. Tough? Yup...

Dear Joseph, so glad to know this and to know these videos of these towns are appreciated. I sometimes often wondered if people would be intrested in the "unknown" towns of Italy instead of the more famous ones... I'm happy there are other fans like me who loves to see these small towns. I hope to always improve and show interesting places. A big salute from Rome area

My grandparents were from Abruzzi, are there other homes outside of this area that would be considered Abruzzi?

Hello again. This is so close to Sulmona where I plan to spend a night if I can get back to Italy...this gives me an idea of the terrain of the area which is what I'm most interested in. Have you gone to Gran Sasso yet, or are you on your way there now?

    • @StillWanderer

Hi Nina, still haven't really visited well the Gran Sasso area or the town nearby, but I'm planning to go there for sure... Sulmona also is a must; Need to plan a little but I'll definitely go there, maybe in Autumn. I filmed another town which will be published next week hopefully , Caramanico Terme... another stunning place for sure. There's a lot to see in Abruzzo, and I'm planning to film more; maybe it's the best season before it gets too cold there actually!
