This game didn't have the best reviews, but it's my go-to for Buggy desert racing on my pc and ps5. It's not fancy, but it works well. The main menu music is fantastic, too.

I may actually come back now that erode is in multiplayer. It's been in single player since around 2010 and I've always wanted it for outdoors racing.

I started following you because of mx vs atv all out not realizing i had previously liked this video before lol i played this game back in the x360 era. Its a really good game. I like to compare all out vs this game... because both have flaws but if you ignore them you can have alot of fun

I wish they made a baja game like the dakar game. Not a arcade baja game.

Also, im from ensenada. Depending on which race it is, but the 1000 is from ensenada all the way to la paz. Usually the trophies and the class 1 will catch up with the quads and dirt bikes.

Realism in this game is not really there, specially when it comes to the difference between classes. Let me throw you some data:
    · Baja bug are a combination between Class11 (fullstock classic VW Beetles, only safety mods and a couple more things can be done) and Class5-limited (look like VW Beetles with cut-off bodywork, extra suspension and all). Both of those classes are incredibly slow in real life, with Class11 being the slowest one at like 20-25mph average. Oddest of all is that this fake class includes Class 1/2-1600 (small prototype buggies with 1600cc engines), which are a top10 class real life and usually can beat the next 2 classes easily.
    · Unlimited VW are basically Class5 vehicles (more stuff can be modified from a standard VW... but still not much freedom since it has to look like an old VW Beetle), average speed is a bit higher than Class11 and 5-limited but much slower than 1/2-1600
    · 4x4 class are a combination of Class3 (small 4x4 cars) and Jeepspeed Wranglers... or that is what they say. This class could be pretty damn fast but nowadays nobody gives a fuck about them. These cars could be faster than the Toyotas and Minis that dominate the Dakar Rally but nobody is willing to spend the money in the USA and Mexico.
    · Open-wheels (Class10 in real life, basically unlimited buggies except for the engine having to be 1850cc or less) are very fast, usually a top5 among classes only surpassed by TTs and Class1 buggies but sometimes beaten by TT Spec too. They can be exactly like a Class1 buggy except for the engine and in the real life suspension is more important than power.
    · Mini trucks (Class7 for small RWD pick-up trucks and Class7SX for the same but with limited engine and suspension mods) and Fullsize trucks (Class8, same as Class7 but with bigger pick-up trucks) are originally much slower than Class10 buggies. Depending on how the course works, even the 1/2-1600 buggies can beat them. 30-25 years ago these 2 classes were the fastest on the desert, before Class1 buggies became a thing and then TTs were invented.
    · Class1 buggies (unlimited for everything, AKA Class1500 in Best in the Desert races) are low-flying missiles. In theory, they should be faster than TTs but sponsors do not care much about them since they are less advertiser-friendly because of their prototype looks and the smaller surface to put sponsors on the body. Average speed can sometimes surpass 45mph even on long distance races.
    · Trophy trucks (unlimited except for shape, which has to look like a pick-up truck or SUV somehow) do not obey many rules at all. Ever since the late 90s some teams have tried to even make a successful 4x4 TT and now they are even adding turbochargers to them. Speeds are slightly higher than in Class1 buggies but the smaller guys still manage to win occasionally.
Real speed order of the classes in the game?
    #1 Trophy truck
    #2 Class1 buggy
    #3 Class10 buggy (open wheel)
    #4 Class8 (full size truck)
    #5 Class7 (mini truck)
#6 Class 1/2-1600 (baja bug), sometimes have surpassed Class8
    #7 Class5 (unlimited VW)
    #8 Jeepspeed (4x4)
    #9 Class3 (4x4)
#10 Class5 limtied (baja bug), sometimes have surpassed Jeepspeed cars
    #11 Class11 (baja bug)

In the sequel they should change the classes around and lower the traction and power values overall, here is my proposal of the new classes:
#1 Unlimited (Class1 buggies & TTs together, since they are very similar)
#2 Light unlimited (Class10 buggies & TT spec, since they are also oddly similar)
#3 Race trucks (Class7 & 8, because they are just as fast)
#4 UTVs (turbo & N/A, because the lighter smaller N/A-powered UTVs can win against the clumsier turbo ones)
#5 4x4 (Class3 & Jeepspeed, because why do Jeeps have their own class?)
#6 Class5 limited (literally a BF Injection from GTA5, they are cheap and simple)
      DLC or unlockables:
      · M-class (for superheavyweight trucks like the ones seen in Dakar Rally or armored vehicles)
      · Class 1/2-1600 buggies
      · Class11 VW Beetles

Desert racing in the USA and Mexico is hugely complex, with dozens of classes for all kinds of vehicles. I just mentioned some facts. I didn't even mention all the classes the game doesn't include or try to represent (Protrucks, Class2, Class4, TT Spec, SCORE Lites, Hammer trucks, Baja Challenge, etc)
