An excellent cherry on top of that is Talesin says "Excellent!" in response. Percy's GLAD he wasn't remembered.
I cried laughing when I first saw that interaction. So much humor in this group
This remains my favorite Viktor moment ever.
That tone and immediate response convey more words than the simple 'no' used because language is fun like that. Instead it conveyed "no and you're a dummy for asking! why WOULD i know some fancy-looking schmuck like you????" and this is how acting works!

I can imagine Viktor's last words being "You want some black powder?" In a menacing and slightly unhinged tone before making his shop go boom.
Also victor: *lights match with an unhinged smile* take it….take it all!! *drops match into barrel laughing*
I agree with both of you.
Hell yeah, I hope they do Victor right when we see more of him in the show later on if we get to see the lead-up to Vekna's/The Whispered One's final battle.
"I've been here for most of my life. I've seen many things... sold a lot of black powder... and made many mistakes... One mistake showed me my metal hand can make sparks if it hits certain rocks. Sparks and black powder don't mix well. It was a big mistake... I learned from my mistakes!"
Victor burst from under the floor where his personal mine is with black powder in one hand and spark stones in the other.

Totally agreed - I get the sence (especially since he was total improv) that Victor was designed specifically to provide this wonderful banter with Percy, and because Matt knows both Taliesin and Percy so well it was perfect!
@@birdscritters I'm pretty sure Victor was designed to try and get Taliesin to break character; Percy is the only one that has reason to interact with Victor and Taliesin is the only one at the table capable of not devolving into laughter, it's truly incredible

Another reason why Vox Machina needs to win an Emmy....seeing Matt giving his Victor speech in front of all these people.
I was on a quiet train in Tokyo when I first saw Victor. And I lost it. Needless to say everyone looked at me like I was crazy, but I didn’t care. Victor is the greatest NPC ever.
To quote Liam:
"YoU lOoK LiKe DoC BrOwN EXPLODED, i DoNt KnOw WhAt tO Do!!!"

@@9564232328 well... true resurrection is a spell that exists... long as his soul is fine and willing, and anyone sees fit to attempt it anyways. it could happen. then there's also possible acts of god that could happen, like if one deemed his actions worthy enough to grant him some more time on the mortal plane etc. usually unless the target is unwilling (or the soul is trapped somewhere and unable etc) or the soul was somehow destroyed completely, there's always a way and a chance. :)

It is so hard for me to look at anyone else's expression except Liam's when Victor is being hysterical because of how much joy the guy shows.
For how much pain Liam went through away from the table during Campaign One, it makes his laughter all the better.

@@ryaku5 the loss of close family if I remember correctly. Made him depressed for a while. You can really see it in some of the episodes, especially the early ones with the Ravenqueen (godess of death)

Of all of Matt’s sparkling moments of genius, Victor, in my opinion is his brightest. Magnificently envisioned, beautifully adorning the storyline for his group, perfectly fitting in the jigsaw of time and place. Glorious DMing.

Despite him barely showing up throughout C1 Viktor is still my favorite NPC across all 3 campaigns, the first ep he showed up in I was waiting for a flight and Matt's delivery just made me lose it right then and there, nearly everybody at the gate turned to look at me like I was insane, suffice to say I didn't give a dam it was still... totally worth it. And even tho he is technically canonically dead now he will never die to me, RIP you insane explosive bastard.
So amazing that we got a glimpse of him in the animated series, so he's alive and well for a little longer 💕

The first time I played Hearthstone’s PvE mode “Dungeon Run” and encountered Mushhuckster Max, I literally shit a brick because I immediately recognized Matt’s all-to iconic voice he first used for Victor, then Max. He’s too great at what he does!!! 😂❤

I come to Critical Role for the players, I stay for the NPCs.. actually no, I stay for both, but the NPCs are all incredibly hilariously charming
I want to see some scene where the current adventuring group is going through an afterlife and they run into this "spry crooked little man" telling this story about how he took out all those undeath cultists and laughing about it.

In that 1x43 when Vex convinces Victor to not charge to keep it a secret, I thought he was going to ask her on a date, to which she'd say "I'm engaged", and he'd go "to him!?" pointing at percival, to which she'd say "yes" and then Victor would turn to Percival and go "A HUNDRED AND FIFTY GOLD! FOR MY SCCHHHHHYLENSCH"

Another good moment for me is when Marsha says: "He has character progression." followed by "Learn from my mistakes!" Excellent!
I love those first 30 seconds. You can hear the cast trying to hard to keep it together.
One of the best things about Victor is watching Liam goes to pieces, EVERY TIME!!!

There are three characters that come to mind with victor and the first two are mentioned by Matthew and the comments section: king bumi and the animated gollum. The third was eluding me but I figured out who else he reminds me of: the old man before the bridge that asks 3 questions

This was AWE-mazing! The reaction of the players shows how good Matt is with his semi-improv (some prep had to be done, I'm sure to develop Victor), but his interaction with Percy and Vex just made it off-the-top. Bravo, sir!

Best npc through all campaigns. It baffles me that people say Henry crabgrass is better. The moorbounder goblin from campaign 2 is a close second and can't forget Madame Musk.
I'd have to check what the rules of the afterlife are in this setting, but I love if this guys ghost showed up at some point.

It's interesting that when you listen to Matt first saying his name, it honestly sounds more like Vincent than Viktor. Lines up with when Matt has talked about how he wasn't even sure what name he gave he was so in the moment.
Matt is just amazing!
Improvised characters are always the best. My players loved a snake oil salesman they'd chase town to town.
