Nah, cause that's how retail be tho.When I was 17, I called out one weekend cause we were going to a funeral for my uncle. We live out of state from the rest of my family, so I genuinely needed the whole weekend to travel. My boss literally looked me in the eye and said "Kayla, you know you're the only one who can work weekends. :(" I was 17, who had a family member pass away, I worked every Friday night and Weekend until that point, and even took shifts for people who couldn't work them. She tried to guilt me by saying "I guess I'll try to find someone to cover your shifts" and I told her good luck!
Literally! My grandma who I lived with and was very close to passed away two years ago, and my boss texted me on the hour for two days trying to convince me to come back in. Bestie, it's not my fault that we're short-staffed! It's your job to figure that out, not mine.
I went into work the day we put our horse down and it was one of the hardest shifts I've ever had to do. I never got to properly say goodbye.
Not only retail, it do be like that everywhere... the ironic thing about all of this is that I work at a "community center" of sorts, I'm friends with a few of the teachers and one of them had to go to her grandmother's funeral, she asked for two days off and they told her "take the whole week if you want, just remember that we pay per hour".
And thus... she had to speedrun mourning. Yes, this is the cultural center of our city, not a greedy corporation or a short staffed shop.
I'm so sorry all of you went through that. That's awful. I work at a nonprofit and have for the past 7 years. I love it there. My grandmother was dying from cancer. I told my boss and he immediately said to do 'whatever I needed to'. I left the state for nearly a month. I was able to use sick and vacation time and I had plenty of both to spare. They let me decide day of if I wanted to work some hours remotely, but they coordinated things so I didn't have to unless I started to worry about how many hours. I was using.
You can use sick time for mental health days and you get a few PTO days a year that's separate from sick or vacation. You can use the PTO time at a moment's notice without an explanation.

Same honestly. I did the quest where I got an amethyst for him for Emily. I was kinda annoyed that he felt that I should say he had all the credit and yet he can’t even hand the thing to her. I’m glad Emily thanked me instead and ignored when I said it was Clint, I hate him so much!

I had seen a mod or expansion where when you befriend Morris, you get some amazing cut scenes. He runs against Lewis for Mayor, and if he wins, the town does prosper even more. It's pretty cool!

I like Morris waaaay better than Pierre. Morris has just been sucked into corporate retail life. You keep joking about Walmart, but having worked for Walmart for 5 years, a lot of this rings true. He gets painted as evil for trying to get customers, but if this was real, he was probably under a lot of pressure from his boss to make this Joja Mart successful.
If this was real Morris would neither have that house nor that car, working as a Walmart manager

This mod is amazing. I never understood why Morris couldn't have any character. Yeah he works for Joja, but he's a manager, he's not that high up the chain, only barely above Shane and Sam.

I’m amazed by this writing- genuinely as if it were straight out of stardew. And it actually had an impact on the story depending on the path!! I’d live to see more mods from this creator- or even better see this from ConcernedApe.
Whoever created the mod is a great writer, this was really sweet and well made and still felt like it made sense and fit the character of what we seen of Morris in the plain game

As someone who works in customer service, who never gets any time for myself to do the things that I actually want to do anymore, and who couldn't go to the funeral of my partner last year because it was out of state during the weekend before Fourth of July (i.e., big sale weekend)...this mod makes Morris hit so close to home that it hurts. I love it.

I honestly kinda love Morris. He doesnt even destroy the town, he doesnt take Pierre out of business and until you fix it up, the only person who cares about the community centre is Lewis. Morris goes out of his way to go for a disused building people dont care about
He also provides jobs for at least Shane and Sam
well people do go to the community center periodically, it's pretty cared about/for. follow the junimossss

I played this mod and it actually really made me feel for Morris. Taking the community center route, I really felt him grow and change as a person. He really wanted to be a good guy, he was just misguided

I'm guilty of have searched for this mod when it was in the works and monitoring it until it came out... I'm in love with Morris. Before the mod. After the mod. I saw the Joja people saved me when I passed out, and I imagined Morris saving me. I fell in love that day. Ever since then I've loved him.

Nah, I like Morris just fine. I especially enjoy his retail-themed insults to Pierre when Pierre challenges him to a fist fight.

I loved this!! It was really well-written, the new Morris area and his marriage room really fit his theme, and the end with the photos was amazing, honestly I like this more than some of the actual in-game content.
I find it hilarious that in the pictures morris took you could see seanie’s character blinking.

He isn't evil, he is just the competition to the store, and nothing wrong about that
The kid on his own started buisnesses very young, pulled his family up from being maintained by a factory worker to being maintained by a well paid manager
The guy goes out of his way to fix his employee's mistakes even if it takes time from his personal life
And genuinly belives the money Joja brings could help the town
He just let himself be consumed by his job and his devotion to the company

I find it so odd that some of the best writing in a stardew romance mod I've seen is for Morris, but the mod fleshed him out and maked him seem more well-meaning and ignorant than antagonistic and arrogant.
I really wish this was included in the real game. His life seems really interesting to learn.

one of the better character expansion mods out there. albeit it was a bit heavy handed and tragic for stardew standards lol. most character scenes are little meet-cutes with some drama sprinkled in, but this just felt like morris venting.
