The thing with Ismo is that even when he's doing stand up comedy in his native language, Finnish, he still appears awkward and clumsy, but suddenly he comes up with shockingly smart and funny observations, often about language.
George Burns once said, "It's not the joke. It's the delivery." I think that's what makes Ismo so funny. He has an awkward- sounding delivery. I think it's intentional and effective. Plus, he points out how silly our language is if taken literally. George Carlin was a master of pointing that out.
When Ismo did stand-up in Finnish, I always thought he was studdering. But it's actually his style. He does it in English too. Greetings from Finland.
